All right, /a/. It's that time again. It's time to face your deepest fears again. You just cannot ignore the magnificent things Naruto has brought to modern anime. You just cannot by any means speak against the positive influx this series had amongst the new generation (millenium scrubs). They came to /a/ because they watched and enjoyed Naruto. ACCEPT IT ALREADY!
You tried hard, it could've been perfect if you just said BELIEVE IT ALREADY instead.
And postet the german intro, yes. But that's not what i aim at. As always, this is intended to allow serious discussion as to why exactly this piece of shit anime was that successful. I do not deny the fact that it is objectively bad, but isn't it interesting... how much of an impact this shit had? What is it that made it that popular? I want to discuss the "Naruto" formula" rather than shitpost, why do you think it had the influence it had?
I can't think of a single way it influenced anime or manga.
Naruto was good (untill sasuke left), shippuden is shit.
It is popular, it's an entry level anime that airs on your usual offender channels. It gets people into anime. It is literally the next NGE of some sorts. You may not have the empathy to be aware of that fact, but this is what got kids into watching anime, and maybe even more than that, make them into active people seeking out older anime, making a backlog and exploring all the things that have been before it. This is sailormoon level i'm talking about here. And as much as i'd want it to not be, it is.
That doesn't make it influential, that just means it's popular and mainstream, how has it changed anime?
addendum: along with bleach, but let's not talk about this right here, that's a whole other beast to slay. My point is: the relevance of this anime cannot be denied, no matter how hard they troll you with it, no matter how hard /v/ tries, wouldn't it be better to allow discussion rather than just shitpost/automatically assume you're being trolled? All i ask is for opinions as to why it has become the massive success it just is, no matter the actual quality proven by other works out there. WHY WAS IT NARUTO?
So, I'm just going to assume you're sincere and reply based on that assumption:
Everyone has an entirely different experience about anime. Naruto may be a gateway for some, I don't judge. But Naruto isn't really a shining star of the format, any more than Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Ranma, Tenchi, Sailor Moon, whatever. It just happens to be this generation's flagship. Or one of them, anyway.
I don't hate Naruto at all. I actually quite like some of the characters (Naruto's mother and Anko) But Naruto is more or less an average shounen. Idiot hero, the power of friendship, etc, etc. It is not groundbreaking in the least. If you think it is, Naruto might be the only anime you have ever seen.
nah, i'm in no way saying that naruto has quality to it, as i mentioned. Objective quality is no factor in measuring this phenomenon. It's just maddening that it has the impact it has, similiar to the (admittedly) rather bland and oldschool anime of old. This brings me to
>popularity doesn't equal influence
tons and tons of kids got into anime because of this show, deal with it. more than anything else. this show is the "go to" anime nowadays, or it was some years ago, at least. influence is directly related to interest, and this show had the most interest over a damn long period of time. Is it a bad sign for anime that a bland 08/15 shounen anime is the generation jackpot?
Don't you dare lump in Tenchi with the rest of that shit.
You're welcome to actually make a point instead of ruining this thread. You'd be better off in that other Naruto thread which is obviously a poor attempt at shitposting on /a/.
>the magnificent things Naruto has brought to modern anime
I can't think of a single one.
