So guys, I haven't seen any threads about this. Video came out not a month ago. It's an anime called, "Attack on Bahamut: Genesis"
So what do you think? I read up on it a bit and it appears to be based off of a mobile game, but holy fuck this thing looks action-packed.
>Horse riding on rooftops
>Some kick-ass looking magic summoning (1 nigga has a fucking goose on his shoulder, good lord how cool)
>A dude that looks like fucking Odin summoning what looks to be an Apocalypse Rider, only size x1000
>Colorful looking cast of people
>Helped being made by guys who worked on Tiger & Bunny, Animatrix: Detective Story, KARAS
I don't know, it looks fun & I'll definitely give it a watch when it comes out. Since it's being adapted from a mobile game, this is one of those occasions where I hope the adaptation out-do's the source material.
It could suck, it could be this decade's Berserk (in regards to medieval anime, I don't think any rape is gonna pop up here), I don't know. They shouldn't have a hard time screwing up, since this is a fucking mobile game adaptation we're talking about here.
What're your thoughts, concerns, what-have-you? 'Tis be a friendly thread, it be.
>Pay to Win anime tie-in
Forgive me if I withhold my enthusiasm. That said, if it's good then I'll at least be pleasantly surprised.
>not only keeping cute girls on your team
I can dig that. I'm basically gonna go in the same way as well. Not have any expectations except be entertained. If the video was any indignation, I'll have plenty of it.
Why there are males in Shingeki no Bahamut? I thought that franchise is full of cowtits.
That picture looks way cooler than the one I posted. To be expected, since I just ripped mine from the video with the best quality I could.
Is it? I wouldn't have known. I'm not exactly privy to mobile games in Japan, so I'd be none the wiser
Reminds me of the Golden Age movies.
Is this based on a game or something?
I got that Berserk feel too. It's based off of a mobile game, of all things.
Two 30+ year old guys at my old job were absolutely obsessed with that game to the point where they would talk about NOTHING ELSE.
>social card game
Let's hope it's not something like the Egypt arc in Yugioh seeing as it is based on a card game. They also used summons and stuff like that in the trailer.
But that was the best arc.
Meh. That iron golem reference from Dark Souls.
Anyway the dragons look retarded, very bad design in my opinion.
As opposed to what exactly
What? The dragon design? To a good one?
Eh, it's CGI. CGI can never be perfect, in my opinion. At best, it just looks passable. They could probably put more of an effort into them, but I'll gladly take a dip from the CGI budget so everything else can look like sex. The Dragon design looks fine though, looks just like what a dragon should look like: big, scaly, giant wings, the whole shebang.
I have hopes because of Mappa.
Show me a well designed dragon.
That was the one thing I saw in the promo that I didn't quite understand, s'why i didn't put it in my green text.
Is Mappa an animator or an anime? A director? What is it exactly?
I'll give it a try but i won't have high expectations
I'd rather have me a kancolle
A studio. Madhouse's founder left with a bunch of staff and formed Mappa.
Oh really? They probably left for a unpleasant reason. Kind of sucks. Though, if it's the founder of Madhouse fronting this, I can expect the animation to look awesome. Funny thing is, i just looked it up myself and apparently they're working with Watanabe on an original anime. I thought maybe it was Space Dandy, but it looks like I was wrong. We can expect another original anime from Watanabe with Mappa after Space Dandy gets done.
Thats the sprit. And hey, if it turns out to be decent, you'll be pleasantly suprised.
Nah. Look at the eyes design of the dragons, it seems like a fucking moe design, unberable.
And that neck and head. Just no.
Record of Lodoss War? Miura? Or this.
Make it fully CG done by the same team that does FFXIV cutscenes.
Holy shit Kalameet
That was best (optional) boss fight, It felt like i was playing monhan again
From what I've seen on /a/ the game is mostly about big tits and monstergirls.
Although I don't like the eyes that much.
Well, I just rewatched the video and I didn't really see any instances of 'moe' design in the dragon's eyes. You sure you weren't watching another video?
How to summarize up that intro in one sentence:
>The fucking moon turned into a dragon.
It was all right, but if we're talking full CG, then I have to give my counterargument and say I want the guys who made the FFXV E3 Trailer to make this. That trailer was just unff
They should have put the FF franchise to rest already
From someone who plays it regularly, that's exactly what it is, albeit with added Pay-To-Win bullshit and semi-interesting story events.
Almost all the powerful cards are cowtits, monsters or beefy men. There are very few options for a lover of the DFC in terms of strong cards.
Half of that's live action right?
Live-action as in actual live or as in gameplay? Because it would be the latter if thats what you're talking about.
What else would Squeenix milk to death though? Gotta have something, + if there's a buyer, there will be a seller, so as long as people keep buying it, they'll keep pumping out more FF. Though, I'm being cautiously optimistic for this one since it actually looks decent, to me anyways. Haven't played a single FF, so I got to start somewhere.
As in the cutscene was made of real people.
>semi-interesting story events.
If you do play it regularly, are you hoping they adapt anything specifically? If even the story is 'semi-interesting', you hoping they do something original so as to try and make something better for the anime?
I believe the characters were modeled after real people, but nah man. That cutscene was all CG.
>altered medieval setting
>running on rooftops
>fighting giant monsters
>a giant thing coming out of a wall
This all seems familiar...
I'll slap you silly
Oh, you were expecting Prince Charming?
but seriously, what're you comparing it to, Berserk?
The CG dragon looks bad(it's always the dragons/monsters) but I can't honestly tell if some of the character animation is CG or just very smooth shading.
Gee i don't know, you tell me
I hope you're not speaking of DaS.
>Implying I'm psyphic
>Implying I can read your mind over the internet
Please don't hold me to such regards, for I will fail to meet them, but I'm just gonna say Berserk at this point until I get further evidence. It's fine if you don't like it, not everyone will. To each their own.
This PV seems to suggest they're definitely being original. That's sort of a good thing, since the limited story is built very much around the mechanics.
>Haven't played a single FF
Damn, I guess you also suck dick?
Me neither. I hate rpgs. The only one I like is DaS. I tried playing some but I was too bored.
>all these people don't get what was referred to in >>100226903
>the show is literally called ATTACK ON Bahamut
But rpg's are a fun genre.
I hear ya. I just hope they don't get too cliche with tropes and can make it engaging.
Hey, hey, hey.... hey. Uncalled for. For the longest time, I don't know why I never played FF. I really didn't like it and thinking back, I don't necessarily know why either. Maybe because I didn't like the turn-based combat of the old games or the way the new games played. All I know is, I'ma stop being ignornant and get around to playing some FF's, especially since some of the games I've been playing lately have been turn-based games and I had fun on them, grinding and all. Don't know which ones to start with though, since there's so many.
... Holy fuck, how did that fly so far over my head?
The only one I was obsessed with is Pokemon.
Is that really a bad thing?
Looks cool, I don't know anything of the mobile game though.
How many episodes are we looking at?
8. Everybody likes the emo teenager who tries to be apathetic. Mostly I'd rather you play it for the card game.
To me this looks like shit.
Isn't the emo teenager the reason most people don't like that game? Is the card game even worth it?
I don't know. So far they haven't released anything other than the PV for this. Time will tell though
Did that old guy summon Odin? Looks like a Final Fantasy tie-in.
I took it more as Odin summoning an Apocalypse Rider. The rider looked like Death to me.
>Bahamut getting anime
>iM@S CG is a more popular mobage and still no anime
Dude, it has like 5, what more do you want?
If everyone talks about it, you know you're at least doing something above the norm. It's probably the best part of the game.
Eh, I guess. To each their own. I'd honestly want a medieval card game anime then an idol card game anime. The former has more creative freedom with it. You can only go so far with idols before it just gets stale, imo.
First Teekyuu, then SnB, then in the near future they will finally unveil Dreaming Machine. From Madhouse's ashes, MAPPA will save anime.
I'm the FF guy, not the mobile game.
Oh. My apologies. I don't know whether to find it sad or uplifting that the best part of that game is a card game.
FF VI, hands down.
Oh yeah? Never really heard much about that since everyone tended to talk more about its predecessor more. What makes it fun?
I wonder what the original story for this will be like.
Will it be a bit like Berserk? Game of Thrones? Medieval settings that you see in video games, like Fire Emblem?
I really hope the story isn't cliche as fuck.
ugh, selfish bump. Last time.
It's based on a card game. So everyone will be summoning familiars. My guess is the MCs will have some sort of objective, and enemies will be constantly one-upping eachother to try and beat the MCs familiars.
It's a guess, but I've never seen a card game anime that I enjoyed.
My guess would be Humans refusing to obey Gods, and Demons deciding to attack themselves while other two factions are busy.
So.. it'll be like Jojo in a sense, but with card games?
A more sound comparison would be Yugioh or Pokemon but sure.
It honestly looks heavily stylized like, a western style. Something you would see in the new version of Thundercats, which is something I'm not fond of..
When I think of new Thundercats, I always omit all the shit and just say, "It was a great 1 episode show."
Director: Keiichi Sato (Tiger & Bunny)
Character Design: Naoyuki Onda (Berserk movies, Ergo Proxy, Blassreiter)
Series composition: Keiichi Hasegawa (Rockman.EXE, some Ultraman stuff)
Music: Yoshihiro Ike (Tiger & Bunny, Ergo Proxy)
Damn, everytime I see that name I get reminded of Bahamut Lagoon ;_;
Ha. I'll steal that from you if that's cool.
>Since it's being adapted from a mobile game
They don't really do well in sales or popularity.
No problem, anon.
Saw the trailer and thought it looked nice and just as I was to go about "fuck yeah, epic high fantasy!" I learned this it's based on some card game.
My interest how dwindled considerably. The thing is, coming up with a good story on demand for a 1-2 cour show isn't easy. If it were an adaption of a story that has proven to have staying power as a novel or manga, the great, if it's an original idea and some writer's pet project that he had been cooking for years an now he can make the animu, great, but a card game adaption? The writer will probably have some lolancientconflict setup, that's written on the game site or the back of a booster pack and then try to fit in all the popular characters in some kind of plot that pits them against each other because lolcardbattle.
I'd like to be proven incorrect, but I don't think this will be very engaging from a story perspective.
Nice blog. Did you copypaste it from animesuki?
Not enough demon lolis to be accurate to the source.
Shitty origins but I sense a sleeper hit incoming. When does it air?
Everything looks promising except the story and characters. Who the hell puts a team this talented to work on a fucking card game adaptation?
>Everything looks promising except the story and characters.
Well at least those aren't important.
