AOTY hands down. Anyone who says otherwise needs to stop breathing
What did you like about it, anon?
I really like the show, but the fujoshi pandering makes it unworthy of AOTY.
seriously, this makes up for every shitty Azumanga Daioh clone from the past ten years
Art, snappy dialogue (so far) that doesn't make me wanna vomit from inanity. AND whimsical depictions of hell. It's gold
Hipster choice of the year.
where? don't tell me it's because only men/boys have been shown so far... also best OP/ED of the year. Jigoku-jigoku-jigojigojigojigojigo....
what anime is this
yeah whatever, why don't you go back to watching Naruto or whatever it is the majority of plebs on /a/ watch these days
>Art that doesn't make me wanna vomit
Is this nigga serious?
Because I'm waiting for Mushishi 2 which will be better than any anime from this year.
goldfish flowers, that's how.... also see>>100216134
hoozuki no reitetsu
The last few "Hipster AOTS"s has had something in common, but it's killing me not being able to put it into words. Can someone help me out?
I just don't like the humor. The preview for the second episode in particular seems ominous.
>being a spoonfeeding cunt
They've all been related to japanese culture/mythology at least.
Not yet man, but the first episode wasn't bad, and it could become a contender depending on where it goes.
Not really. I enjoyed Kyousougiga.
Seems like another "you don't know japanese" show like joshiraku
stop using that word pls
If the rest is more like the first half of episode one it could finish in the top third.
nigga can you read?
Honestly, I don't think you watch a lot of anime if you're acting like the artstyle and theme of this are so damn unique.
From the intro I thought it was gonna be a show about a demon that goes to earth to convince people to be good so they stop overcrowding hell.
i guess this is ok too..
They've become jaded.
if more anime was like this I would watch it waaaaay more often.
huh that's funny, joshiraku was the last anime I truly enjoyed I think
ooo ooo oo ok what were the other hipster AOTSs?... and why do you think it's a bad thing?
Please don't induct this as this seasons hispter anime, the last few hipster AOTS have been good (Aku no Hana, Uchouten Kazoku, Kyousougiga).
If anything this season's should be Sekai Seifuku.
ooo I haven't seen that yet... I will check it out.
I watched half of it skipped sections.
It was boring as shit, absolutely sleep inducing
And so is D-Frag, Nonbunagun, Witch Craft and some other garbage that I've already deleted and can't remember the name of
Stop typing like a fucking retard.
Top show for me this season, I really like its style of humour. Reminds me a bit of the Batsu Games where they're just sitting around talking.
>Reminds me a bit of the Batsu Games
I had a playlist of stuff I needed to watch and now this show has been bumped to the top of my list.
You're going to spending many hours then if you're starting from the first one. You have to though because a lot of in-jokes develop each year that they keep using, like Endo's relationships, for example.
You're going to need to justify that statement.
It's the most well written.
no idea what it is but I'd nibble them ears.
Ah, I meant Hozuki. Though, I really do need to catch up on the Batsu Games also.
That part about Australia and it's animals. It was just funny but odd because i wasn't expecting an anime to mention Australia that much and now there is probably an episode about that takes place in Australia, which might be good
It's not good. This is the choice of wannabe anime hipsters who will force and tell themselves it's good just to be different. Trying so hard that they can't see that the show isn't that clever, and that it sometimes tries too hard to explain jokes to viewers because it doesn't trust them to be smart enough to figure it out. And the sad thing is that they're probably right.
oooOoOoooOoOoOoo you're funny
I think your definition of hipster is a little different to everyone else's.
I cannot be the only one who thought it was boring as hell, right?
I'm obviously going off of what /a/ considers the hipster anime of the season, which most of the time aren't actually hipster. It's usually just the most well written or directed anime of the season. I was just making fun of /a/'s usage of the word when I used "hipster" last few posts.
You've got brain problems if that's how you interpreted it. Further brain problems if you just solely go off of what you see on /a/.
>Further brain problems if you just solely go off of what you see on /a/.
Did you even read the post? I'm making fun of the fact that most anime that /a/ dismisses as "hipster" are in fact quite good. When making fun of /a/ I would obviously go entirely off of what I see on /a/.
Oh that makes perfect sense! I will go back to watching the dumb-as-shit loli/mecha/harem/SoL shows out this season immediately instead of this refreshingly quirky depiction of hell.
Ah, forgive me. I'm the one with the brain problems here. I don't know why I interpreted your post the way I did. Thank you for not using mean words in response to my mistake.
Someone should really update this chart.
Did you read the thread?
The rest of the thread is mostly circlejerking faggots over this snooze-fest
so basically all of anime belongs on this chart since you know it isn't really mainstream in the west
Thats the fucking Artsy list and some faggot renamed it
They may just have an unusual art style, character designs or presentation.
Jin-Roh, Alien 9, Tatami, Eve no Jikan, Neo Tokoyo and other shit are well loved on here
Jesus I've only been watching this shit for two or so years and I know this shit isn't hipster
obscure and artsy is basically the definition of 00's hipsters
then why do so many hipsters love kanye west
hipsters are retards and follow trends. but still need to feel special so follow trends that seem to be 'not mainstream'
Is there anything from that list featuring romance?
I dont want some boring shounen shit with pretty colors.
I think this show is lacking something. It was good, but not to the point where I would give it a second watch.
Being an Australian myself, this entire segment was gold.
Not sure if I will continue watching it though, maybe 1 more episode.
do you think hozuki will like the spiders, octopi, and jellyfish?
hmmm, this is true for a lot of them
what about tatami galaxy
How was vexille artsy?
This shit is so embedded in Japanese culture how does any non-Japanese get it?
But if you are Japanese, or have lived there long enough, then this shit is GOLD.
KOKO WA JIGOKU. JIGOKU. TANOSHIIIIIIII JIGOKU.
JIKOGU. JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGO-JIGOKU DA YOOOOOOOO!
I honestly don't get 90% of the references it makes but its not too hard to deduce most of it. Its an entertaining show just based on its initial concept.
Best OP of the season?
Hard to choose. Space Dandy's and Noragami's are also really good.
>tfw you're not as much of a hypster as you thought
The art is amajing!! but the dialogue and mc are awkward and feel forced. First episode was ~ not as good as I expected.
And for a show with not plot it's not really that funny or at all actually.
To people saying thy don't get the jokes, don't use HorribleSubs. They mistranslated a lot of humor and also didn't translate that glorious OP.
As a tip search for "Hoozuki" instead of "Hozuki" when looking for downloads
You liked this?
The "funny scenes" felt horribly forced and contrived, the dialog was stilted and the character interactions didn't make much sense (Like apparently hell is busy as fuck, and Hoozuki is waltzing around with this thumb up his ass doing the job of a courier, he grabs the first vacation he can get despite him supposedly being the model image of a hard working demon) The animation was fine, but the show seems to rely on gag pranks as it has no plot.
Basically this shit. I don't see how this show will pad out a season with what it has going for it now.
It was alright. I didnt cream my panties over it though.
It's been 3 hours since OP posted, anon. He is probably asleep by now.
And the Momotaro scene saved this show for me. The rest of the episode was kinda like a SoL for me, with Enma and Hozuki talking about girls and Australia, too far this is the best episode for me in this season.
But, to be fair honest, most of the animu this season are utter shit, so... Well, this is pretty passable.
Who else is subbing this? I don't want to use HorribleSubs, because they are shit.
I'm liking Noragami so far, I think it's better than this at least.
FFF does a great job
that's a joke, right? i think that's the first dvd anime i owned back when i was a disgusting dub pleb
This is suppose to be a comedy anime, right? What's so funny about this shit? Didn't find anything funny or interesting on the 1st episode. That momotaro scene was not funny at all
The manga is pretty mediocre, you know.
I've this feeling that everyone is building too much hype for this show, but in the end this is no more than a simple shonenshit.
But, well, I think most people will drop this with the episodes that are focused in the annoying shota.
Do you even know the Momotaro Tale?
This is Joshiraku all over again isn't it?
That's some heavy retardation, anon.
Of course I know, but it's just feel forced and the gag wasn't funny for me
I'm sorry, then. It's only a very bland and mediocre manga.
No. Joshiraku was fun, this one isn't.
So this is this season Uchouten Kazoku? That's good to know.
Just because something has a lot of dialogue doesn't mean it's well written. You like it because it's very japanese that's all.
I don't care about this show, it wasn't bad but it was too boring. It doesn't seem to have any idea where it wants to go, what it tries to accomplish and humor didn't connect with me at all. So yeah... meh
Holy shit. It is only the beggining. This show is at very least decent enough to make you try two more episodes, and then build some opinion.
OP is retard too for saying that this is AOTY.
For me, it just doesn't work. Every joke falls flat.
I'm who you're responding to, and am not the first person who responded to this post.
Just because it's shounen doesn't mean it's automatically bad, I just know that I've liked what I've seen so far; and thought that both the characterization of the characters and the plot to the show have more substance then Hoozuki at this point.
Can someone explain what is "very japanese"? Because you don't really need to be japanese to understand the dog/bank joke and if you read manga/watch anime, you should know Momotaro.
There was just a few other references that were more obscure, but that wasn't nearly enough to make it incomprehensible.
I can see how people might not like it though.
Who else picked this up because of this doujinshi? Also, when will this bitch show up?
The jokes involved insulting the other party and the other party faltering beneath the insult. It's funny if you think the three stooges were the apex comedy.
Diffrent cultures have diffrent approach to deliver a story, joke, dialogue, emotion etc.
For example japs have strange fetish of wasting time or pseudo philosophical monologues. Indians like to throw every genre into their movies. Slavs like to do depressing gray worlds. Americans like them romances and they like to abuse high concepts while at the same time not understanding them.
Stuff like that
I get that (even if I don't agree with all your examples), but, beside a few references, I don't see how the first episode was more japanese than most of this season's shows.
It's just a Hell SOL with random jokes.
That don't make it japanese.
Only 10 anons watched this, why would you bother to troll this show, OP?
