Good scene composition thread, round 2.
>>
Post clouds /a/, I need another cloud thread badly.
>>
No one ever explains why right is shit.
>>
>>10021534

Because anyone with an actual sense aesthetics would see how shit it is.
>>
>>10021547
I don't see it.

Explain, or there is no difference.
>>
Different genres, different atmosphere, different audience target.

Learn the difference.
>>
Because framing character close ups and long shots diagonally just makes it look like you have a crook in your neck. It looks silly.
>>
>>10021514
I was never a fan of Mononokes style. Felt like it was trying to distract from fairly bland plots and weak pacing.
>>
>>10021514
>Horrid comparison of completely different genres scene composition thread, round 2
>>
>>10021561

Color design, sense of space, how effective they are to the storytelling, balance, coloring, being overall good-looking...

>>10021564

But the shots on the right have no atmosphere.

LET ME TRY. I know nothing of art shit.

Right:

1 and 2: shitty speedline things and lighting/shading, not sure whether to focus eyes on the figures in the foreground and background

3: WTF is going on? blob of light looks shitty. probably makes more sense in context.

4: I don't really see what is bad??
>>
>>10021651
I think 1 and 2 are from still shots just before break or at the end of episode.

You realise you missed one of the bigger mechs from Gurren Lagann, right?
>>
the difference is

High budget shows and films on the left side and low budget TV shows on the right

>>
>>10021702
The girl who leapt through time was a low budget affair. Also, budget wouldn't have an effect on composition. Animation quality maybe, but not composition.
>>
>>10021605
>But the shots on the right have no atmosphere.

It's actually very simple. GundamOO is trying to focus on the mobile suit battle. Why should they show a beautiful scenery? It's totally unnecessary.
>>
>>10021702
big budget does not necessarily mean good art direction.

things like kyoani shows have good animation, but rarely memorable art direction/scene composition
>>
>>10021740
brings a new meaning to fapping at the cloudwork
>>
>>10021761
Then why are they buried under motion blur?

Wait, shit, the huge tower. Disregard!
>>
>>10021788
then what about the bottom left scene which has Gurren Lagann flying off into the distance? To small to count or are you simply a BAWW fag?
>>
>>10021743
The girl who lept through time was not a low budget affair
It was a movie
even if it did get less money than a series it would still look better and be better animated than your average TV show

budget is relative to composition
it's colour scheme and effort put into a show will vary depending on the level of artists you can hire
higher end artists cost more money you know

also you're looking at the shows static composition when shows themselves are dynamic
you can't judge a scene based off just a screencap of it
>>
>>10021841
However, remember that Gurren Lagann had like a fucking lot of frames, and that shit equals pie.
>>
>>10021809
What about the bottom two "shit" ones?

In fairness though, I wouldn't call the lower three shit more than generic and bland. They're not bad but there's nothing interesting about them.
>>
People saying the one on the right is like that because it's a mecha, or that it's focusing on the action, are fucking retards.

Gurren-Lagann was a mecha, it focused on action, but it had good scene composition, it had a quality about it. So stfu, you can focus on action and have good cinematography at the same time.
>>
>>10021639
Fresh and witty, 10/10.
>>
>>10021841
>higher end artists cost more money you know
So low budget = worse artists?
So you're admitting that the scenes in question ARE poorly composed if only due to budget?
>>

Conclusion: OP was right.

/thread
>>
>>10022004
Yeah
I guess you must've thought I was arguing against the OP or something

I only wanted to say that the collage better portrayed a "low budget vs high budget" comparison
>>
>>10021987
Bullshit

Gundam Seed, Destiny, 00 individually had much more budget than Gurren Lagann and Dennou Coil combined.
>>
>>10022067
Evagelion had some great composition and that was made had a few bottle tops for a budget.
>>
>>10022161
Haven't seen that posted in a long time.
>>
>>10022096
Yes, but consider that GL 15 had over 22000 frames of animation, whereas an important episode in your normal series has around 12000.
I think it still equates to GL's being superior even against a high budget animu because even by normal standards it is so infinitely superior.
>>
Anyone who says the stuff on the left are better than on the right should get a new brain. It doesn't matter how much money or frames you have, shit is still shit.
>>
Usually when you make things like these, you make the differences obvious.

Here, they're not clear, and they are arguable as well.
>>
>>10022357

Go and troll somewhere else.
>>
>>10022420
That was as much trolling as anything said in this thread. Just because it's opposite to your arguement doesn't mean it's trolling.
>>
>>10022467

He called Tokikake, Gurren-Lagann AND Mononoke "shit"

Obvious trolling is obvious.
>>

At least he got that right
>>
>>10022096

Than Gurren-Lagann and Dennou Coil combined? THAN GURREN-LAGANN AND DENNOU COIL COMBINED? YOU MEAN, THE TWO SHOWS WITH NO KOREAN OUT-SOURCING WHATSOEVER?!
>>
I still can't see the difference.

Dude, he said combined. Not only Gurren-Lagann or Dennou Coil... he says Gundam00 has more budget than GL and DC TOGETHER.
>>
>>10022096

That is bullshit.

Gurren Lagann is one of the most expensive anime series ever made.
>>
>>10021585
>Because framing character close ups and long shots diagonally just makes it look like you have a crook in your neck. It looks silly.

Or, you know, it means they just aren't flying in the same fucking horizontal plane as you are. That's a bullshit rule and you know it.
