I just watched 5 Centimeters Per Second
what the fuck
Man, that title is so depressing if you think about it. Five centimeters per second. People, slowly drifting away. But yet, how hard is it to move five centimeters per second? It's an easy speed to make, an easy thing to do, something anyone could've done. Five centimeters per second is not an insurmountable gap, it's not an impossible goal, it's not a force of nature which would take a great deal of effort to overcome, it's nothing that can't be done, and yet... We let things drift away, we don't run to catch them, even though, all they're moving at, is five fucking centimeters per second.
If you thought the ending was sad, you lost the game.
and delicious copypasta
Op here, seriously, what the fuck
It was pretty.
Surfer chick was hot, I want porn of her.
I was expecting to cry, recomend me some anime that will make me ;_;
Beyond The Clouds (same director, better movie) even though 5cm is awesome too!°
The clouds where fucking well done.
Kind of a sad, disappointing ending. But at the same tragically beautiful.
But the whole movie is a lot of build up to nothing.
Seriously, he should have taken the girl from his high school. I BAAAAWWWED for her
Glorified harem anime.
Shin Hokuto no Ken.
Not knowing moonspeak, I don't know which is the more accurate translation, but 90% of the time it's translated as "The Place Promised in our Early Days". Maybe it's just the title of the licensed version.
will grave of the fireflies make me BAAAAAWL
Voices From a Distant Star way better in my opinion. Like one of the best anime I've ever seen. It just captures the feeling it's supposed to portray so perfectly and uses the metamorphic setting so freaking neatly that I doubt that there is no match for it when it comes to anime.
Pretty much captures the theme of all of his works
Voices is my favourite Shinkai work, one of my favourite movies ever, but I still think about how unnecessary the whole "alien invasion" plot was. It could have been replaced with any number of more realistic scenarios, which would have had a stronger effect since the viewer is most likely already relating the story to his or her own life.
/r/ torrent links of all movies.
I'd say that the story needed to distance itself from reality to work properly. Love isn't the most realistic feeling out there, you know. And there was that hallucination scene with the venusian in the end that kind of explains the allegory.
The Place Promised in Our Early Days is better, check it out for lots of win.
Voices of a Distant Star is shit. And that's Voices OF a Distant Star, not FROM, you fail goats.
Voices - Alien Invasion = Planetes
Movie could be a hell of a lot longer and more elobarted, but I liked anyways.
