Hey guys I'm come from various boards such as /mu/,/x/, and r9k...I must say I'm still very green on anime. A majority of my friends have pretty much seen/read anything anime/manga.
I'm much into anime films than series. But I'm particularly into the darker more serious stuff. So things like Soul Eater just don't really do it for me. And I fucking hated Sword Art Online.
For instance the stuff that I was really a fan of have been Gantz, Monster, Attack on Titan, the latest Ghost in the Shell, and Watanable stuff
My favorite anime film is Perfect Blue.
Why don't you just ask your weeaboo friends.
Boku no Pico
>darker more serious stuff
all that edge ouch
I politely posted here about a year and a half ago and was lambasted by a shit load of seriously unwarranted anger and intense immaturity. I told myself never to come back. Thought it might be different this time around...Nope.
>voluntarily going on /r9k/ and /mu/
Clearly you have learned nothing, and are still just as retarded as you were before. Fuck off.
/r9k/ is basically for NEETs/Hikis who haven't discovered the joy of anime.
>Touching the fire again after burning yourself.
What disability do you have
Me-Teru no Kimochi
you fill the void of any real personality, empathy, or interests so you base your lives around one thing, and its obsessively watching one country-based version of animation. And being angry and apathetic about it. Fun people.
Thought I could have a constructive conversation. Just got more autistic b-tards.
What a terrible fate.
Maybe reddit suits you better.
I hear you anon.
I really enjoy Watanable's works too. He's the best.
Check out his other stuff like Boku no Pico and Bible Black.
You should try watching "Wake Up, Girls!" (thanks to Yamakan saving anime).
>Can't even use google to look for anime
Haha, look at this retard.
You're insulting us when YOU can't even use google?
I'd fucking live on this board before I even considered reddit. And I swear this is worst board on 4chan.
I recommend watching JinRoh the wolf brigade the character designer of JinRoh is the same as Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiments Lain.
if you liked attack on titan's helplessness aspect read gokukoku brynhyldyr or the like. Millenium actress is better than perfect blue.IMO
Why though? I think you're just letting peer pressured into avoiding reddit when clearly you belong there with the rest of the fedora tippers.
>Implying you're not when you go on /x/ and /mu/
possible same fag.
I thought maybe I could get personal reccomendations fro real people, which we could discuss various types and themes, etc. Again, you people don't get anything. Are there like any non-sexually repressed 15 year olds on this board that aren't immediately looking for trolling?
>Sensei, am I helpful?! Look at me! I'm not like all of those other vapid /a/ssholes, right?
I'm going to be mature and 100% honest with you then.
We are angry with you and "immature" because you waste our time by asking for recommendations when you can easily find a good show to watch by lurking the front page for more than 30 seconds or by searching /a/ recommendations on google.
Now you know.
Report and hide
>Regularly posts on an anime board
>Calls me a fedora tipper
Can I spoonfeed you?
>/mu/ IS NOT A PERSONAL MUSIC REQUEST SERVICE.
The same fucking thing applies here, dumb ass. Now get the fuck out. Go to Reddit if you want to be spoonfed, and discuss anime.
Some people just enjoy sharing series they like.
mu is whatever it wants to be. We recommend albums and bands to people constantly. In fact that 's a majority of what we do. Again people like to recommend things to people who are familiar with the medium or genre.
It's like trying to convince 14 y/os. This fucking happened last time almost to a T.
See this is fucking perfect! This is exacty what I would be looking for now I'm going to go and research it. Others could have reiterated what he said or expanded or argued. That's how a fucking board works.
>mu is whatever it wants to be.
If you're using that argument, why can't /a/ be whatever it wants to be?
here's your genre discussing recommendation list...
Honestly, it's easier to just post this shit and let it go than to try to educate these fucks.
For the record, I do this out of pity.
That being said, I hope you learned SOMETHING today.
>We recommend albums and bands to people constantly. In fact that 's a majority of what we do.
And /mu/ is a terrible tripfag infested board who circlejerk over Fantano, Pitchfork and Scaruffi. What's your point?
>Honestly, it's easier to just post this shit and let it go than to try to educate these fucks.
So now he knows he'll get recs from /a/ if he posts long enough. Great fucking job, you faggot.
Speaking only for myself, I opened the thread intending to give you a couple recommendations (because I also really enjoyed Perfect Blue), but your whiny and insulting posts made me change my mind.
Google random curiousity.
Find their best of 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 threads.
Read anything mentioned that interests you.
I don't think they have the best taste in the world, but they name basically all of the watchable stuff from any season and you can figure it out from there.
To toss out some obvious starter recommendations.
Kara no Kyoukai
These will all have what your'e looking for. Higurashi and Geass might be a bit more of a stretch, but they should be seen anyways.
boku no http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmGr4yfXBCg
I still don't see why you wouldn't bother to go somewhere else. Literally any other anime forum will help you.
/a/ doesn't work on the same frequency and that how most of the board seems to like it.
No, I'd say all of them are chastised and used as a sort of irony. And even if that were the case, how would that invalidate the fact that the recommend things to other users?
This is why we don't spoonfeed. Users who don't have the brain to use google to look for anime have absolutely nothing to contribute to this board.
You're defending /mu/ and applauding them for recommending things to newfags who don't take the time to Google before starting up their own self-centered thread when it's obvious the board is pretty shitty itself.
Hey man, 99% of the time I just ignore these threads but... I don't know what came over me honestly.
Anyway, I hardly gave a real recommendation. I just gave a list I happened to have saved.
And look on the bright side, that list should, in theory, keep someone from ever posting a recommendation thread again.
At some point, you've got to weigh the cost/benefit and ask "is it worth it?"
Anyway, here's my atonement for my transgression.
You are the cancer that propogates.
I wish I could deliver fluorouracil to your corrupted minds.
> That's how a fucking board works.
>Shame on those of you who spoonfed.
>1. requesting outside of /r/ is a bannable offense and we do ban people for these kinds of threads.
again google is not personal or concise. A personal discussion with people who know their shit could have narrowed down suggestions and possibly know the perfect show for me.
Why does your need warrant an entire thread to itself?
Mal has recommendations based on user input. Your argument if invalid. Mal is also extremely accessible.
I honestly want to know, how is this that bad?
All his friends have higher power levels than him
I'm all for preserving board culture, and I ignore almost all of these threads, but *sometimes* you can throw the dogs a bone.
In this case, there may be a lot of people lurking right this instant looking for anime recommendations.
They're always told to "lurk moar", isn't this the moment they've been waiting for?
/a/ is not your personal anime search engine. Google is. We do not want discussion with you. We do not give a shit about your tasteless opinions. You have nothing to offer or contribute to the board.
All you've done is whine, and complain while asking to be spoon fed. That's all you'll ever have to contribute until you've educated yourself, which will never happen.
Okay, never posting here again. No wonder I'll never entirely understand anime culture, especially the people who spend their time posting on a board entirely centered around it.
Someone have the copypasta of the math behind every faggot making their own rec thread?
Setting aside the issue of whether /a/ chooses to respond to a given topic, asking for recommendations is not a 'request' any more than asking for opinions about a show or character is.
Good job on automatic doubles.
The reason they're told to lurk more is so they know to Google for their recommendations instead of making yet another rec thread.
Speaking of which, lurk more.
Shut up if you dont like it dont come in the thread you baby.
>They're always told to "lurk moar", isn't this the moment they've been waiting for?
No. After lurking they learn that they can use google to look for anime. It's not hard. You literally just have to type in anime recommendations, and it gives you a fucking list.
Here's a strange thought about rec threads. 4chan has had at least 190 million unique page views in its history (that was 2011, but it still works as a lower bound). /a/ is the third most popular board, so lets assume that at least 2 million people have visited /a/. This may be a bit low, but let's run with it. Assuming that each new person made a recommendation thread when they first got here, distributed evenly throughout 4chan's history, that would come to ~25 threads an hour, or a thread every 2 minutes. That would mean that this board would pretty much b e half recommendation threads, none of which actually contributing toward any productive discussion and just being some idiot who can't use google, or better yet, just figure out what he wants to watch himself. Continuing on, logic would dictate that that person would need to make another recommendation thread after having watched the series he was recommended, meaning that this cycle of making these useless threads would continue ad infinitum until any actual discussion was left to take a backseat to indecisive mongrels such as OP. Therefore, it is not just that you failed to lurk long enough to figure out how things work around here(or god forbid just look at which anime people are saying are good on the board and watch those), you have failed to use basic logic to deduce why making a thread such as this is so moronic.
Yes it is. Mods agreed, don't bother them about it.
If they wanted recommendations they should just google.
Also, when I got here I just lurked some threads and put highly discussed things like Madoka, Eva, and shit I thought it could be good like Nichijou in my backlog.
Soon I was watching thing without ever making a recommendation thread, they aren't welcome here and never will.
>asking for recommendations is not a 'request'
They still get banned. Because they don't belong here.
But who the fuck are you anyway?
All we know is that you come from a shithole.
From that I would recommend [DATA EXPUNGED] to you, since that would be what you like to watch.
Please, I just baited people who watched Symphogear in Nobunagun thread.
One, just one fuckin seasonal will give you enough.
I also lurked many years ago, never made a thread like this until I lurked almost a year.
Man the lurking, I remember filling up 7 different windows of my botnet with /a/ threads.
I enjoyed it a lot, even from shadows.
/a/ was better back then.
>demand people spoonfeed you in your worthless rule breaking shitty thread
>insult those people and make wild assumptions about them
Well that isn't how you ask for things you spastic. But this is /a/ and you don't ask for reccomends period.
Darker than Black
Good job missing dubs like a baby.
The one that was just made up numbers and unfounded assumptions?
/a/ isn't required to spoonfeed anyone, but rationalizing that decision by pretending there will be dire consequences if you do is just stupid.
Spoonfeeding is perhaps the number one peeve of /a/. It's your job to lurk and understand a boards culture before posting. Understand that you committed a (very common) faux pas and that this is nothing personal.
No I'm aware google takes less than a second to get valid results.
Alright, alright you guys are right, I fucked up. What's done is done though.
Yeah I went through the same thing. I guess I incorrectly thought I would have appreciated getting the answer given to me directly... But I never made a thread, and I'm realizing that finding it out for yourself is actually way more satisfying anyway
It's fucking hilarious how every fucking OP who makes a rec thread devolves into this. Look how angry and spoiled they are that people aren't serving them.
And people still expect us to help these pieces of shit.
>WAAAAH WHY WON'T YOU MAKE ME A BACKLOG TAILORED JUST FOR ME
>asking for recommendations is not a 'request'
>I'm realizing that finding it out for yourself is actually way more satisfying anyway
Hear a bunch of people saying something is good and watching it is good.
But picking up something you never have seen before just from some pics and a small thread and after watching it realizes it is good is awesome.
Discovering by yourself is part of the fun.
I hope you newfag lurkers are reading this right now.
/a/ is for discussion, not questions or requests.
Besides, I don't know why some people think we will give them better, faster and more reliable answers than Google. We're not smarter than Google, are we?
>never made a thread like this until I lurked almost a year.
I didn't make a rec thread of course, oh wow I just realized I never made a rec thread in /a/, I made a YRYR thread as my first thread.
well if you havent seen akira, thats a pretty basic one that every anime watcher should see
