Is Evangelion entry-level tier, or is it worthy of a high power level?
Never seen it, should I watch it
Entry level because things are actually happening (well at least as long as they still had money).
High powerlevel is totally retarded moeshit that nobody that's even remotely able to remember how to hold a real conversation with an actual human would be able to stand more than 5 minutes.
You can watch it as an entry-level show and enjoy it. You can also watch it as a high power level show and enjoy it much more.
You should watch it if only to understand just how it changed anime.
Tons of the trends that were around before the Moe craze started were started by Eva.
Entry-level, but keep in mind that doesn't mean it's bad.
If you want high power level, watch something like High School DxD or Bleach
Stop thinking of things in such ways.
TV show: entry level
Liking Evangelion TV is pretty much a textbook example of ignorance.
Its a great show.
There is nothing wrong with an anime to be entry level. This is positive, in fact.
Where's that image of the posts from 1997 that said that moe anime was a passing fad when you need it?
It's entry level because it's so popular, but I would say it's as good as it is popular
It's entry level for the fact people feel obligated to see it to join the club so to speak. This doesn't make it bad however, and high power levels can still discuss stuff about it like the homages laced throughout it, and its overall impact on the industry.
I figured entry level were the best and most well known. Basically the first ones someone would suggest to someone to watch.
In most cases. With anime however entry level means it isn't going to scare away normals with incest pedophilia and harems.
Even the last two episodes? What about Rebuild?
The only one who spit on those "entry level" animus are dumbfuck hipsters.
Not even entry level, but idiots like to think they are "hardcore anime fans" and that Eva is 4deep8me and that's the reason I dislike it.
So being entry level mean it isn't shit ?
AI've aways generalized entry levels as ones that are easy to understand and follow, whether they are good or not is more or less public opinion
What's entry level mean, anyway? Liked by a lot of people? Isn't that the goal of every anime?
Depends, Elfen Lied is pretty entry level as in well known and edgy teens first rape and violence fest, but most folks here tend to say its quite bad.
"Entry level" is an anime or manga that someone who is not used to watching anime or manga can enjoy easily
First 2 rebuilds are great, third is ok but goes off in a weird direction
I'm talking about in a sense of entrylevel/not, not how good they are.
The goal of every anime is to sell tons of overpriced crap to ronery nerds
It's like babby's first attempt to be a big boy. It's the worst kind of entry level: The kind that thinks it's deeper than it really is. It's truly the Madoka of Anime
That being said it still holds a special place in my heart. Maya is my waifu
>It's truly the Madoka of Anime
Isn't Madoka the Madoka of Anime?
Not all entry level is good, it mostly just means accessible to people unfamiliar with anime. There are both good and bad emtry series.
I would also say that there are actually two or three tiers of entry level:
>babbys literal first anime, something tough to not know of as a kid such as pokemon or dbz
>babbys second anime, something people who have a passing interest in the medium tend to drift here, things like FMA, cowboy bebop, one piece etc
>babbys first "otaku" recommended show, I put that in quotes because it is rare to get real advice on this from a real high powerlevel at such an early phase.. here we have evangelion, k-on, haruhi etc.
As I just said, eva is in this later phase of entry level because you can't find it on TV and you hear from animu fans that it is like required baseline knowledge/supposed to be really amazing
Just because every anime wants to be liked doesnt mean it will be.
Entry level, but it becomes true high power level the moment you realize EoE is an insuperable masterpiece of anime.
No you fool, Madoka is the Evangelion of Anime
Damn, I've been living a lie!
Why didn't you tell me that before?
I always thought Dead Note was the Evangelion of anime.
It's too popular and well-known to NOT be entry-level. That said, I don't dislike the show, and I really like EoE and the rebuilds.
It changed the industry for pretty much all the bad reasons, but the actual show's content wasn't revolutionary. It was tired and cliche shit taken from material older than Eva. But don't tell that to Evafags. They happen to think it's the most original anime of the 90s.
Eva is in the second category end of discussion.
NGE = Entry
EoE = only for the gifted
Death Note was the Madoka of Evangelion
You only dislike Eva because of it's fanbase?
That's fucking retarded.
Oh yeah, a lot of the stuff was taken from Tomino's works and Devil Man among other things
Even NFL players have Evangelion Dakis
So you decide.
No, I didn't make it clear in my post.
What I meant to say is that they think I dislike it only because it's 2deep4me and that I didn't understand it.
I dislike it for quite a few other reasons.
People really need to stop thinking that entry level = bad.
The fuck are dakis
It's high power level since I stopped counting the number of anime I watched several years ago, and I still didn't watch Eva.
fuck pillows for very lonely people
which players? somehow I get the feeling Tom Brady sleeps with a daki
>I don't know what google is
Get out of here.
>for very lonely people
Only talk for yourself, please. I'm not lonely, I'm alone by my own choice.
He also frequents /a/.
It was a mecha anime that trashed and spit all over the cliches of mecha anime.
And the people who were being spit on fucking loved it.
I have no real hatred of entry-level shit but when people claim themselves to anime experts because they watched their first "mature" or "deep" anime are like me claiming I've found gold when I've barely dug. There's a shit ton of anime and manga out there and people have no real right to claim they know shit if they haven't seen or read at least 50% of it.
I feel I like it less and less with each passing year for my own reasons, but I'm not so stupid as to deny that Evangelion had a lasting effect on the anime industry and that it can be lauded just on those credentials alone.
shit. A famous football player can't get a girlfriend and sleeps with an autism pillow? I'm doomed
My stomach hurts, I'm laughing so hard.
What did they take from Devil Man? Never seen it before.
too bad the Texans sucked ass this year.
He also wrecked /vp/ in pokemon
> First half of NGE
Entry-level, still alright
> Second half of NGE
Becoming less entry-level, very good but not a masterpiece
Only for true masters of anime, 10/10 masterpiece
Not much except for an apoocplaytic ending. DM is about a guy fusing with Satan to fight demons from hell, at the end the real Satan shows up, destorys the world, reveals he's a hermaphrodite and fights the MC. Usual Nagai stuff, OVAs are pretty good if you want gore.
id tweet about other shit too if my team went 2-14
And the only fallback I have for football in texas is the cowboys. Jerry Jones is fucking immortal and they wont be good til he is gone.
At least I can go watch the Rangers. Yu Darvish should be pretty hot this year he has been adjusting well.
or you can watch it and not enjoy it. you always have the choice
It's probably not his fault
He could get a girlfriend but he chooses superior 2D.
>up late at night early last year marathoning EVA
>finally finish the last episode and move onto EoE
>at this point its 4am and I havent slept for days
>literally in tears by the end of the movie
Anno truly is a creative artist, for at that point in my life I had witnessed what it meant to live in this universe. DID HE JUST JACK OFF?
How can one man be this alpha
What if he's in this thread right now?
I'll link him this
>The official tumblr of a professional football player with the heart of a Japanese school girl.
That's cute and disturbing at the same time.
Citation given. Pic from Brennan Williams offensive tackle for the houston texans twitter. I fucking love this guy.
Entry level in terms of popularity, high level regarding comprehension appreciation of plot, characters and events.
Okay, like normal, I was able to find an Eve thread so I don't have to make one. Okay, so lets have an Eve discussion. I just finished Eve Neon Genesis. Before I move on to End of Eve and the others, can someone explain what the fuck just happened?
I want to start off by saying that the ending with them standing around clapping made me feel like an autist watching an autistic child be led through a world with a path made specially for him to be pleased with everythihng around him.
Okay, now to what I want to know. It isn't much. So what happened was they tried to defeat all angels in order to be able to go through with the next project. What exactly was that and what did it require? I though it required the angels to be defeated, then to do 'something' I don't know to Adam which enables them to become "Gods" which lets them for reality to how they please.
Entry-level just means that a series is required watching for anyone who considers themselves a fan of the medium.
Citizen Kane is entry tier because anyone who considers himself to be a fan of cinema has to have watched it. Does that mean its a bad movie? No, it means the opposite.
There's nothing negative about a series being entry-level, the problem is when pretentious weeaboos think that they're hot stuff because they've seen entry-level series and nothing but.
Anime isn't "entry-level" or "high power level". People are.
One day, 4chan will experience a next generation paradigm shift away from the use of buzzwords.
