So the horriblesubs release of this episode was filled with terrible banding artifacts. Was the FFF release this bad?
>So the horriblesubs release of this episode was filled with terrible banding artifacts.
Wow welcome to every horriblesubs release
nah, CR visual quality is just that shit. blame their encoder (i think his name is Daiz)
I hope you're are only pretending.
HS is ripping from the funimation stream, which is known to be one of the lowest quality streams out there
FFF used a broadcast raw, so no, their release was better
it was funi
CR is golden compared to funi.
I hate to be the one to break this to you anon, but they're the exact fucking same thing.
The quality of Funi is much much worse.
Where do you think CR gets their sources from?
I don't know and I don't care but CR doesn't flicker like funi does.
Not Funimation, I assure you.
I'm pretty sure that CrunchyRoll doesn't fucking steal streams from Funi that Funi doesn't even have you moron
I've been using DamedesuYo uses TokyoMX broadcast rip so quality seemed fine.
Picture for comparison
Is horriblesubs release ever not the worst video quality available? They're ripping from a stream. Anyone else is usually using raws and slapping subs on that, so... I can't think of an instance where HS was the file I actually held onto rather than just the one I watched because it was fast. I always delete that shit and replace it with something else.
Looks about the same as >>100193772
Still not great, but better than HS.
They could potentially be better quality since CR uses an untouched raw when they encode to h264 they just use a low bitrate to save bandwidth and make streaming smoother for more users. Fansubs have to get by with mpeg2 transport streams, the quality is often not the greatest because even at ridiculous bitrates mpeg2 fucks it up and it still requires filtering.
Sorry, not to start shit, shitpost/troll/etc. but people realy fucking care about things like this? Wait, let me back up... people actually watch their shows hard enough to discern banding issues?
Just for reference, I'm some low level pleb that uses vlc.
>not to start shit
Our Lord and Savior Daiz has said that there are shows where CR has the best available video source. However you will still want to perform filtering on their source so you don't have banding and such. I don't know if that is true for HS other sources like Funimation.
Banding can range from subtle to blatantly obvious. Any show with lots of dark scenes becomes shit, I remember Steins Gate from CR being really terrible.
Open the image in a new tab[view at 100% magnification] and look at Yato's jacket.
Most of the time I don't really care myself, but it's really jarring in Noragami.
Ahh I see. I guess if you're into archiving anime, you'd want to get the best quality. Me, very few anime do I watch more than once, and even then...
Thanks for the replys though
If you are into archiving you wait for BDs anyway. For TV rips it's acceptable quality vs speed.
Not to everyone. Different people have different tolerance levels for different things.
I can tell the quality is shit, but I watch it anyways because it tends to be the fastest.
For a few shows with either beautiful art or complicated use of text (thank god Underwater is doing Kill la Kill), it's worth the wait, but otherwise fuck it
