I think that, for the Anzio OVA, the guys who make the series will troll us all.

How, you ask?

Well, maybe instead of showing us Oarai vs. Anzio, like everybody expects, they will show us Anzio vs. Maginot (A.K.A. the first round match).
After all, between everyone calling this the 'Anzio OVA', the series' creators apparently mentioning somewhere that the events on it would be 'different from those on the manga' or something like that and, IIRC, a... commercial? Ad? Anyway, one such thing in the last page of one of the spinoff manga showing an Anzio student (possibly Anchovy, can't recall exactly) and someone with a rather French-looking uniform (beret included) that hadn't been shown before...

What other conclusion would you get from that?
>>
>>100189452
As cool as that would be, this seems like a crack-theory.
Just because the events won't be the same as in the manga doesn't mean they'll pull a complete change like that, just that the way the battle pans out will change.
Plus they've introduced Earl Grey in an ad like that I think, that doesn't mean she'll be something major. And berets are a good generic piece of tanker headwear, though I have to admit I don't know if the Italians use(d) them.
>>

Does anyone else feel really bad for Anchovy and her crew?

I mean, think about it, Anzio High School isn't just some dinky little school, it's world-renown!

Their Culinary Club wins cooking competitions all the time with their Italian cuisine, and they are always a favorite in the world championship.

Their Art Club holds some of the greatest young artists the world has seen, working in the line of Leonardo and Michelangelo, and is almost always going through a "Renaissance" of sorts.

Their Theology Club has its work published around the world and they're even called on by the Pope to give their opinion on some religious matter of other.

But their Sensha-do Club? Well... It ain't their fault the best tank they have is the P.40... They try just as hard as the other clubs, but when the majority of your tanks are actually tankettes...

I just feel bad for them, that's all.

Well, now that I think of it, the 75/34 cannon should be able to penetrate the B1 from the sides and rear.

So yeah, the P.40 in theory could take out the B1, but one hit from the B1 is probably enough to take the P.40 out

So, uh, not sure if I'm late, but I just found this and... and wow...

http://g.e-hentai.org/g/661895/394adee1be/?p=1
>>
>>100191489
The B1's 75mm was a short-barreled, low-velocity howitzer with very poor AP performance - in fact I'd have to check if it had AP ammo *at all*. Its medium-speed 47mm gun was roughly comparable -maybe a bit better- to the similar guns of the Japanese and Italian tanks, and those had considerable difficulty penetrating a Sherman's armor (to which the P40 had comparable protection). Both tanks would likely have to go for the sides; P40 is faster.
TL;DR: B1 is actually slightly disadvantaged against the P40.

>find it odd how the Heer using captured equipment is frequently mentioned, but the Allies using captured stuff is hardly ever brought up.

Extremely late reply, but the reason the Western Allies didn't use captured equipment was because they didn't need to. Whole different set of logistics, repair knowledge etc. It also greatly increased friendly fire risks. The Russians on the other hand by wars end had entire divisions of German tanks they took from the field and repaired.

I do know an American crew DID in fact use at least 1 captured Panther for quite some time, its been documented and photographs exist along with the story but it was risky due to the high chance of friendly fire from roving fighter bombers. They also used plenty of captured German field artillery and gave it to guys with the instructions of "figure out how to use it."

Yes, and the Murricans paid dearly for their pants-on-head retarded armor doctrine. Fighter-bombers didn't accomplish anything aside from incurring more losses than they inflicted on tanks.

>no differential (could hardly change direction even slightly while in motion)
>weak brakes (might as well be no brakes when driving down inclines)
>near-uncontrollable on rough surfaces
>overly difficult to shift transmission into 5th gear >feeble 78hp engine = pathetic power/weight ratio and torque for a maximum speed of 15mph on a level surface (if you can get it into 5th gear)
>installation of more powerful engine required elongation of chassis, adding more weight and largely negating gain in hp
>ridonkulous bell-crank/helical spring suspension raises a horrendous racket, provides no stability and is very unreliable
>uneven wear of vehicle components due to awkward engineering
>no standardization between multiple manufacturers led to incompatibilty between components for the same vehicle (and sometimes even the vehicle itself!)
>radiator fan also used to cool fuel tank (especially precarious since it runs on gasoline)
>hull comprised of 6 different sections bolted together, leaving armor and structural integrity wanting as a result (so much for modularity)

>useless for recon
>no turret cupola
>operational range of only 80 miles
>wider turn radius than a Murrican muscle car
>taller than it is wide and topheavy and therefore highly prone to rolling over
>initially armed with a sawed-off, low-velocity 37mm gun (can barely punch through armor not much thicker than half the shell's own diameter)
>"upgunned" armament consisted of the 37mm gun after being bored out to 40mm (severely shortened tube life and unable to use standard ammo)
>only 34mm of armor (6mm less than mandated by French Army)
>armor was initially overly malleable; post-hardening it was overly brittle and highly prone to spalling
>improper armor tempering resulted in air bubbles, further compromising armor integrity
>lots of armor was bolted on (boltheads tend to snap free and ricochet around the interior when armor sustains a strong impact)
>ergonomics unfit even for people with dwarfism
>crew of 2 results in tank commander having to fill 4 positions
>leather hammock seat in turret is highly inconvenient for reaching into the hull for ammo
>can't live innafield without bringing an entire camp along because no room for stowage of supplies (yet they somehow managed to stuff 100 shells and 2,400 bullets in there)

I also loved that the brits actually tried to make it worthy, and made the Firefly which was good, (just look at these happy germans driving one) but the Americans still didn't want them because of their armor doctrine. I mean, tanks surely don't fight tanks, only tank destroyers, amirite?

>>100227979

Don't start this.
>>
>>100227979
Let's say they were roughly equivalents with each other outperforming the other in just small things with neither being clearly on top
Armor: Panther better frontal but FAR worse sides, they both could penetrate each other's frontal armor at short ranges
Gun: Panther better AP capability but worse HE load, they both were adequate nonetheless in both tanks
Gun range: Both over 2000 m (read: more than enough)
Speed: 2 Km/h difference (negligible)
T-34 had better cross-country performance, Panther had better engine reliability, both were at first plagued by general mechanical problems that were both solved in later models...
Hint: The Panther was a german copycat (pun intended) of the T-34-76 with a better gun and turret layout. The T-34-85 was a T-34-76 with a Russian copy of the German turret - similar gun included. Small wonder they are similar, then...

82% of the T-34's produced was left on the battlefield while germans maintained a 3:1 ratio during the war.

>The new 76mm gun represented a modest increase in anti-tank performance, bringing the 76mm Shermans up to rough parity with the PzIV and StuG III (the most commonly encountered German tanks) at combat ranges. However, it remained incompetent against the frontal armor of the Panther and Tiger, eventually necessitating the Sherman Firefly (equipped with the excellent 17 pounder gun) be developed to counter them.

Your dellusion is staggering.

El 28 de diciembre ya ha sido, and there's still long months for April First. Err, I mean... (polite thread, polite thread) Sorry, Anon. The ballistic data seems to indicate otherwise (standard AP round for the M1 was able to penetrate only about 90mm vs 130 of the 17 pdr)

>Americans gave their Fireflys to the British
Sure, Anon. Right along their tea, fish and chips. and double -decker buses, all of whom are exactly as an Amercan invenion as the Fireflies
>polite thread
Err, I mean... Nope, Anon. The Fireflies were a 100% British deal, that they offered to the Americans (who rejected tehm) and not vice-versa. It wasn't an up-gunning of the Sherman, it was placing a tank around the 17 pounder. The Sherman was used because they were around, as a stopgap (if highly sucessful) measure before a British tank carrying the 17pdr could be designed.

Before someone mentions it... 76mm M4's had up to 4 when first issued to FL units, but then became as rare as hens teeth, with replacements next to zero. When averaged out over all US 76mm equipped AFVs, the distribution turned out to be about one round per vehicle per month. And even those had a tendency to bounce off the glacis of the Panther until 450 yards.
TL;DR: Good on paper, irrelevant in practise.

This is what Britbongs actually believe. Let's face it, American tanks were the main platform for the 17 pdr until the Comet, which was introduced after most of the fighting was over and only came with a shortbarrelled version.

>most targets did not need the difference.
If by "most targets" you mean "everthing from the ubiquitous Panzer upwards", then yes. You are plainly under the same mistaken mpression than the then-current US high command: that the Panzer was a scarce heavy tank. It was, in fact, the third most comon German vehicle produced all along the war, and after Normandy it was being produced and fielded in larger numbers than the Panzer IV. That meant that finding them was not a possibility, was a certainty.
And the Panther front was inmune to the 76mm M1 unless using usually unavailable AND unreliable HVAP ammo. The basic ammo for the 17 pdr was the Allied weapon of choice for the task.

>fireflies
Let's say it once again just to make it clear: the Americans made NO fireflies. Period. They made only M4 chassis. It were the Brits who used said chassis (after major turret modification) to carry their 17-pdr guns.

>muh HVEP
Kindly refer to the U.S. Army 1944 Firing Test No.1, whih concludes that HVAP, and I quote, can not "be depended upon to penetrate the glacis plate of the Panther in one fair hit on average quality plate."

TL;DR
Admit that you were wrong about the 76mm Sherman being a battlefield equivalent of its British-modified cousin and move on, Anon.

No, no legitimately. Sorry, that was put in a rather baiting way but the question was honest. Or rather rhetorical, and a question on you opinion on such things.

"On May 28th 2005 while Germany's unconditional surrender was being commemorated, Estonia inaugurated in Tallinn a memorial to the glory of "those who perished in the fight for liberty", or to be more precise, those who had joined the 20th division of the Waffen SS." Robin-Maire, R., The Bifurcations of Memory in Politics of Collective Memory: Cultural Patterns of Commemorative Practices in Post-War Europe, Wahnich, S., Lasticova, B., Findor, A. (Eds.)

Be careful with the filters, they are supposed to be of other tone that the colors you used, but not brighter or darker, it usually happens that you just end up darkening the colors when that's not the objective.
About washes, oil washes are better in my opinion, but only cause they have a more fluid consistency thanks to the thinner, also they have a longer dry time so you have more time to work and clean.

Seems you haven't watched it, so I'll ellaborate for you while waiting for someone who knows the answer.
In the "Heartful Tank Festival" GuP fan event, the seiyuus of Anglerfish and Turtle teams did a rather amusing half in character, half out of character. questions and answers number. (Obviously, the Council team girls were doing the questions, and unsurprisingly, the prizes were Oarai sweet dried potatoes). All the answers Yuka Iguchi (Mako's seiyuu) gave were silly jokes, and all but one of them were censored with animal noises and a floating icon of the Anglerfish God over half of what she wrote on her chalkboard.

So, has someone been in that fan event and knows what she actually wrote? The reactions were priceless...

That's why I like small scale stuff- it's generally significantly cheaper than 1/35 stuff, and you can get away with shittier paint jobs.
On painting- keep the scheme simple, make judicious use of washes & pigments and most importantly have the patience to not make shortcuts and correct your mistakes.
Also, think your mother-fucking paints

love building 1/72 cause you only need 3 paint colors for it. Base color, black and a metallic one.
Paint it base color, details and wash it with black and then dry brush-it with metallic. Simple, they always end up looking good and it's a lot of fun.
>>
>>100248936

I built them since years and can not say something other than: practice.
Do some cheap, simple tanks at first, try simple things, basic color schemes.
Then, step by step try more complicated things like drybrushing, chipping, washes and so on. it's simply a matter of practicing.

Now that I think about it, regarding the home carriers/towns. Each team comes from a town based on a WWII aircraft carrier design, the only exception to this being Pravda, and for some odd reason Saunders. Considering the Soviet Union never had an aircraft carrier during the war, it is justified that they use a Kiev class, meanwhile, America had at least three different classes of Aircraft carriers during the war. Why are they using a Nimitz then?

You know that logic sort of falls apart once you realize that these carriers are like 3 miles long and are more advanced than anything we have currently.

I doubt there's any real connection between what real life carrier they're stilled after and how advanced they are in universe; or rather if there is it's more on the creator's sense of aesthetics rather than the carriers being actually from World War 2 in universe.

What most jokers fail to realize is that France's surrender in WWII was after it had already been defeated. Instead of futilely having every man killed off in a suicidal hopeless battle like Hitler. So, basically, they are criticising France for not being Nazis - all while bragging about they weren't nazis themselves. I know, it's retarded.

He also founded the "Society of Alcoholics", which shocked the high society of Paris (except for Napoleon). One evening Lasalle made Paul Thiébault count all the empty wine bottles. Thiébault asked "Do you want to kill yourself?” which prompted the famous reply from Lasalle: "My friend, any hussar who does not die by thirty is a blackguard..."

Does anyone have any good photos of ARVs based off of the T-34? I know there's the WPT-34, the Czech VT-34 and something Polish based off of the SU-100 too. But there's some confusion on whether the Polish one is the WPT-34 or if this thing is.

And I'm being serious about it. It's the single best end that a tank, plane or warship can have at the end of its career. In fact, I hope that when Panzer IV-sama and the others finally become no longer repairable after another half-century or more of being reliable warhorses, they are turned into reefs instead of being turned into slag.

Well, apart from omitting the Saunders fight and including the Anzio one there are no really big differences to the anime.
It was already said that the OVA isn't going to be an adaption of the manga battle IIRC, but I hope they keep manga Anchovy's personality. She's the closest thing to being Miho's arch enemy.

This is just cross over fanart with Call of Duty series.

Fun fact: The girl with the rabbit ears in-universe is an ex-soldier from the moon. She's also noted for being the only character in the series to wear modern style clothing despite Touhou's ancient Japan setting and shooting bullets that look like modern bullets rather than nebulous energy balls.

I was pointing out how Mr. 2huPatch patch designs seem to be based off of the bunny girl's patches from this series of Touhou/Call of Duty crossover fanart .
