So I will start this Anime tonight. Will I get the intriguing and emotional story I am hoping for?
Who wants that? There's cute girls though.
No you will not.
You will get this.
No, you will get an incredibly random story with some intriguing and emotional parts which are pretty short and not very strong. But that doesn't mean it's bad by any means.
Well, good enough.
Expect to see plenty of this
whoever voice acts the mc needs to stop voice acting forever
no, but i liked it nonetheless
Sounded like that big boned guy from Accel world.
Alright, it's the same guy.
Be ready for disappointment.
Wait, she's voiced by Toki's voice actress?
If you don't like cute and small girls, you're fucked. I watched it for Tsukiko, she was cute as fuck.
Also this song was nice.
Just remember that Azusa is the best girl.
Watch it for the cute girls and don't question the logic.
>intriguing and emotional story
Kinda? It's cute but it get's really terrible near the end and you will only keep watching because of your favorite girl doing cute things
It's just ok, has some cute girls in it though.
>intriguing and emotional story I am hoping for
>watching a JC Staff romcom
Another show with the worst girl winning.
Azusa > Tsukiko > Tsukushi
2nd best girl won, you fag.
She had great legs
OP here, I watched the first 2 episodes. When will it stop being shit?
When you develop taste.
>Thinking generic harem series #35463247375461345 is good.
>Tells someone else they have bad taste.
He never said bad tastes, he said develop tastes, faggot. If you weren't into harems why would you watch a harem?
So they're going to develop from good taste to good taste?
Yeah, that makes sense.
Are you retarded? Let's say you're into mecha, you might not like SoL because it doesn't appeal to your tastes, does that mean SoL is shit? Obviously OP wouldn't like a harem show if he wasn't into harem.
... Are all haremfags this brain dead? Like, this is so simple I'm not sure how to explain it any simpler.
Says "When you develop taste.". Implying their taste is currently bad. Why would he be telling him to develop something he thought he already had.
This is all in lieu of the fact he himself has bad taste, which is the irony.
I won't even get started on the objective value of the genre.
OP here, I'm into harem like Love Hina (Mango), Clannad, School Days or Haganai. Though this one here doesn't work for me. The character introduction is too rushed and everything feels forced.
Okay, that's cool. it was irrelevant to my point. You can't have good taste and like harem. It's fine to like harem, you just must also know you have bad taste.
Which is why it's ironic >>100191256 told you to develop good taste.
Quoted the wrong one. I meant to quote this:
So you're saying there's no good harem?
>If you like a different genre than me then you have bad taste.
Our apologies for ever doubting you, oh great god of anime. Please enlighten us more with your wisdom.
There is the rare objectively good one. But that's because it's other merits outweigh the negative value of the harem itself.
Would you mind telling us the name of THAT objectively good one?
>the negative value of the harem itself.
Which are? You can just throw random acquisations without explaining what you mean. Right now, it is just looking like you are saying something is bad but you can't say why it is bad. But if you are this opinionated on it, then I would assume that isn't the case.
I thought this show was pretty fun and cute, anything else like it?
So what is a good genre then?
...Are all anti-haremfags this brain dead?
Most of the anons who watched it died from heart problems. We're the survivors.
It's quite good and later on becomes dark and deep.
I wouldn't say deep, but it does get pretty dark.
Your mistaking boner with heart.
Get started on the objective value of the genre. What makes it so bad in comparison to others
It had both.
Why is she so perfect?
It gets pretty deep when you find out what happened to that guy's memories
Did I imply it was a single one?
But, It's the bigger names like Haruhi, or Monogatari.
I won't go to do into it. But, one negeative value is how harems in and of them selves are devices to pander. The author shotguns out a wide spread of girls with different personalities in order to appeal to larger fan base without actually writing skillfully.
Of course that's just one.
Any genre that isn't inherently built to pander.
Care to give a reason, other than senseless ad hominem?
See second point in this post.
So who got the doll of her. To cum into.
>tfw no good doujins
Haruhi is a harem show? Nah. And Monogatari is just blatant fanservice hidden between wordswordswords with good character designs though.
>one negeative value is how harems in and of them selves are devices to pander. The author shotguns out a wide spread of girls with different personalities in order to appeal to larger fan base without actually writing skillfully.
Wait... but every genre panders to their audience. That is the point of a genre, so that people who like a certain thing can know which shows they might enjoy.
>Any genre that isn't inherently built to pander.
And that would be?
Next you're going to tell me Raildex is a harem.
You all know that harem isn't a genre right? It's a theme.
Not the guy you are responding to but... yeah...
Uh, yes. And it gets even more so in the novels.
The red head, the robot alien girl, and Haruhi. That's a harem.
No, there is a very big difference between appealing to your audience and pandering to them. Pandering is something inherently negative.
>And that would be?
Pretty much any that isn't a harem. The term harem was originally just a plot device. And is not warped into a genre because it because so popular.
You have to be a special kind of retarded to think monogatari is not a harem series.
People >>100193990 are generally not worth the effort.
>No, there is a very big difference between appealing to your audience and pandering to them. Pandering is something inherently negative.
But what is that difference? I'm just having trouble understanding your view. What is the difference of having multiple types of girls in a show with harem and having multiple types of fighting style in an action or even multiple types of mechs in a mecha?
No one is this stupid. Monogatari isn't a harem because there is no struggle between love interests. Do you even know what a harem is? You seem to think any show with a group of girls and at least one guy is a harem.
I came for the premise, stayed for the best girl
I came for the cute girls, came to cute girls and stayed because forgetting is truly terrifying.
You tell that to her face.
Because the sole goal of action shows isn't to use those girls to appeal to a boarder audience. In actions shows you have side other appeals.
Just take a token harem anime like Index. How many side stories and arcs have been spent on giving useless side characters back story and development.
The girls in harem stories are used as plot devices to either prolong the plot with pointless back story, or force the story along by making a back story conveniently relevant to the plot.
A harem is defined as when three or more people hold a love interest in a single other person.
It's ironic you say I don't know what it is but then say it HAS to be with girls and boys. Which is very wrong.
>A harem is defined as when three or more people hold a love interest in a single other person.
So Shakugan no Shana, Raildex, and Code Geass are all harems?
>It's ironic you say I don't know what it is but then say it HAS to be with girls and boys. Which is very wrong.
When did I ever say that?
I said nothing about action shows and girls. I said action shows and fighting styles. And how is a character development useless, even if it is for a side character? Every anime panders. Harems are just the only ones that use female character development to do it. Actions do the same thing with fighting styles, they will take an entire episode to show how a character, who isn't the main character, developed his skills. I thought you might have had more to back yourself up with but it is still seeming like the only reason you are saying harems are for people with poor tastes is because it doesn't pander to you.
> token harem anime like Index
According to his (!) definition.
Yes, and the blonde one is voiced by Ryuuka.
Man falls for younger, deliberately childlike girl? So its a pedo-harem?
No thanks, ill pass.
You linked the wrong person.
SnS only have two people with a love interest in the single character,
Index and Code Gayass are both harems.
>When did I ever say that?
>any show with a group of girls and at least one guy is a harem.
You are missing using the term pandering again. After I already explained it to you. So I'm not going to bother continuing this.
Pander does not mean to appeal to.
>Thinks Index isn't a harem.
>Posts a picture of Yuru Yuri while critisizing pedo themes on /a/.

Your version of "explaining" is saying something doesn't mean something but not being able to say how it doesn't mean that. I can say coke isn't a soda but just because I say it, doesn't make it true. You have not provided anything to defend yourself other than opinion. You are the worst type of anon. You probably are only saying that harems are bad because you read someone else's post that said it.
It appealed to my tickling fetish
Way to take something out of context, I said "You seem to think that any show with a group of girls and at least one guy is a harem". I never said that was a requirement of harems.
>Index and Code Geass are harems
You have used the term pander twice to mean "appealing to a fan base" Which is specifically told you it's not.
You directly imply it has to multiple girls liking one guy. Why would you say that of all things unless that was your go-to reason of something not defining a harem.
Touma has at least 10 girls after his dick.
Ledouche has... Long haired red head, Short haired red head, CC, Rolo, and that chick with long black hair.
I think it is actually you who is misusing appeal.
Pander works for what you are using as appeal, in the way of indulge.
YOU were the one to imply that by assuming just because Monogatari has a group of girls it's a harem. I was mocking you.
You clearly didn't even read it.
I implied no such thing. You just assumed it because that's what your baseline definition of a harem is. At that point I had already made it clear that a harem is where multiple people have a love interest in a single person. But I guess it needed to be spelled out for you.
>The author shotguns out a wide spread of girls with different personalities in order to appeal to larger fan base without actually writing skillfully
Nearly all shows have that. I can pull five shows and they'd fit that description.
No they don't. And even if they do it's not to the same degree as harems where's it basically the goal of the story. The goal of the story being many girls being interested in one guy.
Index isn't harem because there's no focus on the haremettes. Touma's just a Mary Sue so the default state of females is lusting after MC cock because bad writing.
It's ok guys, someone probably told this retard that he was intelligent. Now he believes stupidity to be genius. Just stop responding to him. He is never going to explain what he sees the difference is. He thinks that, like some god, whatever he says is the truth, even is it goes against all presented logic. You should probably graduate middle school before you try to post on here.
>no focus on the haremettes
More like I just stopped bothering with you because you can't even be spoon fed.
Watch it for the best girl winning.
And a male MC who kind of earns his love interests.
By your definition of harems you provided, any show that has multiple people with a love interest in a single person is a harem. Nearly all shows do have this. So you are saying that nearly all shows are harems. Which means you are also saying that if you like any of almost all shows, you have bad tastes. Either you really hate romance or you are just stupid for backing yourself into a corner.
>Doesn't have anyway to defend his point.
"You just don't get it dude!"
Who are you, Siztra?
The fucking ending was almost 2dark4me.
Not multiple. Three plus.
And yes, that encompasses a good number of them. But that does not make them any better.
OP dat ED is what you should be hoping for
Yeah the last couple episodes were real emotional, but the series strong point was the amazingly cute girls and the humor. 8/10, real good
>But, one negeative value is how harems in and of them selves are devices to pander.
Stopped reading right there.
That's because people don't understand what the word really means anymore. At least not on /a/, where every word has a distorted meaning. Like troll, NTR, slut, ect ect.
Everyone was really fucking cute. Even the MC
>Any genre that isn't inherently built to pander.
So by your standards, everything is shit?
Any form of art and entertainment is inherently going to appeal to its audience. The only reason you use "pander" is to criticize and judge the thoughts, attitudes, and opinions of the audience of anime you don't like. It's a buzzword. Stop using it. It just makes you look like an arrogant asshole.
>people don't understand buzzwords
What a surprise
I didn't think it was overly emotional but it was pretty funny. I enjoyed it.
Did Tsukiko do this because she secretly wants Yokodera's dick.
u shud rewatch the show m8
Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko best girl
That goes without saying.
>tfw this was basically the madoka of harems
I didn't even know what cute was before this shit
All right, we're going home.
>entertainment is inherently going to appeal to its audience.
>The only reason you use "pander" is to criticize
100% incorrect. The word pander has an actual meaning.
Do you know what a faulty syllogism? Because that's exactly what you're doing here.
There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding whether or not harem anime can be good, so allow me to explain. The only good harem anime are Monogatari and SZS, and both of these are so great that they deconstruct and defy harem conventions to become something entirely different; one could even argue they are sublime masterpieces of art.
>100% incorrect. The word pander has an actual meaning.
Yes, it does have a meaning. Here it is:
>gratify or indulge (an immoral or distasteful desire, need, or habit or a person with such a desire, etc.).
Think about it for a minute. You claimed that harems "pander" to the audience. According to this definition, they satisfy an "immoral or distasteful desire, need, or habit" of their fans.
So, by using that word, you're implying that your desires, needs and habits are inherently better and more moral and tasteful than those to whom harem anime appeal (or for that matter, any anime, genre, stereotype, etc...)
TL;DR it's a fucking buzzword used to insult other people over their taste in chinese cartoons.
>>100205uses phrases like "sublime masterpieces of art" and what you nitpick out of that post is Monogatari? People who don't like the Monogatari series really are the worst.
I'd say at least watch the first few episodes. I enjoyed the series, it was far from top tier stuff, but it was enjoyable. The manga/Light Novel's also pretty good as well.
