I want to start watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, however there are three anime adaptions of it; 1993, 2000 and 2012.
Are they made in a certain order in terms of plot or what? Should I bother watching all of them and if so in what order?
Well if you aren't interested in reading the manga just watch the 2012 anime and wait for the next season. You can watch the '93 anime if you want, it's based on the same content as the next season of the current series but it cuts a lot of stuff out.
Read the manga.
>I want to start watching
Read the manga first, then go to the anime. Trust me, it will be better than just watching the anime.
>Well if you aren't interested in reading the manga
Goddamn it, son.
But she's not a lesbian.
I don't really like reading manga in general unless that's the only form available
What's wrong with you?
Fairly lazy, would prefer not to read. This started around a year ago when I started watching anime more often. I used to read manga on and off all the time
I am currently reading the Welcome to the NHK LN as I hear the anime is awful, if that counts
I know the feeling especially with some of the jojo scans but its worth it.
Besides its not like they'll sort all that copy right for part four so you had better start learning to read manga or you'll miss all the good shit
awful in comparison, I mean.
The anime is decent and worth a watch. Get your shit in order, Anon.
I hear some of the scans are in colour, is this true?
The anime is fine (very good, even). It's just less depressing.
Could be. I don't have them tho. Sorry m8
You might want to try and install the greasemonkey webcomic reader script. It makes reading manga online sooooo much faster and comfortable.
Ther eason I read more manga than anime is because I'm lazy, you see.
I'll give it a go, but some of these JoJo scans look fucking terrible
If you wanna delve in the JoJo world, you pretty much have to read the manga. Anime doesn't cut it
/a/ in a nutshell.
Any show with a lot of focus on the female gender instantly means yuri pandering.
Just like there's morons that think jojo is shounen-ai because of the art style.
I'm being serious.
OP here, I love Nichijou, wasn't sure if that Anon was joking or not
>Anime doesn't cut it
I wouldn't go that far..
2012 is good by itself.
It's just how I name my files so I can find what I want easily.
Like i said..
/a/ in a nutshell.
No, you said;
>Any show with a lot of focus on the female gender instantly means yuri pandering.
Putting deeper meaning behind filenames like a twit.
Hey, I didn't tell you to read JoJo, I just told you about the script for general reading.
I haven't read JoJo myself, but I suspect it's quite ancient. If I were you, I would do what that other guy said and watch the 2012 one and wait for the next one.
Only some in Part 3 and Part 4 do. The rest are all fine.
It simply means this changes nothing.
Try opening a good manga and reading it sometime while sprawled out on your bed it shouldn't take long until you understand what i mean.
This isn't a requirement but do note most adaptations are butchered or changed to a dramatic extreme, jojo 2012 isn't one of these cases but if you actually want to read jojo i suggest finding a guide.
All and all i enjoy both despite the radical differences from time to time when compared to the originals such as lightnovels and visualnovels. They're still enjoyable for what they are and most of the time get me to seek out the original work.
>but I suspect it's quite ancient
I assure you the art is superb for its time and out does a lot of manga artists nowadays.
Age and manga usually doesn't mean anything. If anything i would say we have taken a step back regarding how japan cheats with manga and anime nowadays.
Watch the 2012 one. It adapts the first two parts of the manga.
The 2000 and 1993(yes, in that order) ones adapt Part 3. Avoid them unless you've already read that part in the manga. They have some good episodes, but cut out or fuck up a lot of stuff.
And by the way, there will be a new Part 3 adaptation in April, and it will most likely be superior to the old OVAs.
> I hear the anime is awful
Not really. It just adds/changes a few things. Like, in the anime he doesn't use drugs, just booze. And the senpai girl has more screen time.
It's a good adaptation, especially by Gonzo standards.
I'm sure it is (otherwise it wouldn't be so unhypilly popular), which is why I called it ancient instead of old. Ancient isn't bad per se, but I would doubt the quality of the scans.
Plus, it seems like a franchise you oughta invest yourself in, so I guess waiting a little bit for the remakes/readaptation/whatever they're doing now can be worth it.
> If anything i would say we have taken a step back regarding how japan cheats with manga and anime nowadays.
Ever since I looked up what key frames were, I can't but mentally complain when the background/general pose of the characters doesn't change in more than ten seconds.
I loved the anime without having any knowledge of the manga, i actually started the manga but i had a problem continuing due to how good the adaptation ahs been.
It's something you really have to put dedication into so i don't blame anyone really with the manga being over what is it.. 1200 chapters now? But strangely jojo 2012 feels rather complete even without the audition of Stardust Crusaders.
I only read the first couple of books from the manga, and what I've seen from the Anime it seems to be a pretty good adaptation. Maybe a tad less violent. But that artwork and great coloring make up for it.
