Who's your favorite animator? I like Mitsuo Iso for his work on Eva, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, and FLCL. His full limited style is really memorable.
I don't care enough about animation to know who they are individually or have a favourite. Truth is that if the story's good then that's all that matters, and nice animation is a nice but optional bonus.
Well i disagree. Getting into the head of people who worked on stuff you like is part of liking it. If you don't know who got you interested then you're pretty shallow.
>if the story's good then that's all that matters, and nice animation is a nice but optional bonus
People like you are the reason why anime has nothing but limited animation everywhere. I hope you're happy, asshole.
Anime has had limited animation forever.
people like you are the reason why shit like Redline and Wizard Barristers will never get the respect they deserve.
Yes, but it didn't have to. If anime fans didn't tolerate it to the same degree, it wouldn't be so complacent.
This guy knows what's up.
Yes, story is all that matters. I can write Kafka in textspeak and it'll get the same idea across, right?
>OMG I totes trnd into a ckroch rofl XD.
Execution is just as important as the content.
Anime has always had limited animation. 90% of all animation is limited. It's not a bad thing.
And anime in general has always been improving. People who think SHAFT is cheap shit haven't seen real cheap shit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJK6xlG5Y8U
>90% of all animation is limited. It's not a bad thing.
Explain how. Do you think all anime wouldn't be better off if they could afford to fully animate the whole thing? To me, "limited animation" is synonymous with "shitty animation".
>Explain how. Do you think all anime wouldn't be better off if they could afford to fully animate the whole thing? To me, "limited animation" is synonymous with "shitty animation".
All "limited animation" means is that it's not animated at full 24fps. That's it. And most anime isn't animated at 24fps, usually they're animated on twos and threes. Hell, you'd be hard pressed to find animation that wasn't mostly limited outside of Disney films.
It's not a bad thing. Rather, half the time it's not noticeable. Anime could be better with higher framerate sometimes, but it's not imperative for good animation, though Sakuga scenes do tend to have higher fps than the rest of the show does.
>Anime could be better with higher framerate sometimes
Then how can you say, in the same post, that lower FPS isn't worse? I feel like I've hit a bump here.
I know it's a bit obvious to say this but I really love Yoh Yoshinari, and the trigger team of animators.
Hideaki Anno is the MASTER of dynamic explosions by the way.
I also love the lesser known Koji Yamamura, chack out what he does you guys it's really incredible and he has a style that is all his own.
Atama Yama, is my favorite, it's really short too (10mns):
He also did Country doctor (20mns)
I'm really not even sure his stuff counts as anime at this point
I'm a pleb.
Story is really getting overrated at this point and aesthetics are truly underrated.
