>Hugh Everett III (November 11, 1930 – July 19, 1982) was an American physicist who first proposed the many-worlds interpretation (MWI) of quantum physics, which he termed his "relative state" formulation.
>ED has people walking along light cones
>I spot at least the equation for relativistic velocity and what looks to be the Schroedinger wave equation in the credits
So he's a womanizing PhD Physicist with amnesia (retro AND antrograde) from traveling through dimensions/time/space? Based loosely on Feynman perhaps?
Wait don't tell me discussing this series is informally banned on /a/
you should try and make a Dandy thread on the day it airs, any other day the threads go to shit at record speeds
also meow is the best
I expected something like that but I can't find a thread for this basically at all on /a/ or /co/
I held off watching because I thought it wouldn't be very good at the threads would be a horrible perfect-shitstorm because of co/toonami/IRC/etc but that was nothing at all like what i expected and i really liked it, although i'm probably a bit too far into it
How is this working though since apparently the toonami broadcast airs earlier, is the japanese broadcast significantly later?
I'm guessing HS is still broadcasting it since HS has the first releases.. it's not like you can sub the japanese release directly from the dub, but i suppose it might help in some small way, for context or whatever.
Is it unconfirmed if it's 1 or 2 cours? Wiki just says '2+' which leads me to belive that
idk how you caught all that but maybe?
sounds plausable. who's Feynman?
A pretty damn famous physicist who did work with Quantum Electroydnamics (QED) for which he won the nobel prize, as well as a number of other things. Considered one of the greatest teachers of all time (at least in physics/science), his lectures on physics he gave at Cal-Tech (i think it was) are pretty damn famous. Also notorious for being a womanizer (albeit not in an overly negative way) -- a famous story of a stripclub in his town was going to be closed down and he was the only one who showed up to testify in its defence
so based on that you think Dandy could be influenced by him?
I keep seeing "IRC" but I don't know what that actually means.
Loosely, yeah. If they're going to the levels of mentioning Everett, a physicist who quite honestly I didn't know by name, I wouldn't be surprised if they take or took some influence from feynman.
But I am pretty tired and this is just idle speculation
robot's the best sorry but meow is right behind
dandy is third for the time being since we don't know what's up with him
Best ED of the season.
I really like this ending and wish I could find more music that's in the same style as this. I guess the style is jazz, but I've never heard any other music that combines strings and sax like in anime jazz. Has anyone else?
It reminded me of this for some reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H4jg2xM6M8
It strikes me as early 80s synthpop, with some slight disco-y elements to it with the violins.
It figures that there are quantum physics involved; the ED basically proves that Dandy got fucked up in the space-time continuum and we're already witnessing the resulting shenanigans. Thinking about it a bit, for example we're hinted that the dandy in ep2 may be a different one; there could be a bunch of the Aloha crew kicking around now, as this one is different in that he prefers tits to ass. Also
>in ep2, apparently they warped away from the Dr. Gel's fleet when they all zerged on Meow's phone. So did he warp out of there, after realizing they were following the phone? Wasn't the ship not supposed to be able to warp in ep1? Is this a different Dandy whose Aloha ship has a normal warp? Or did they just disappear from existence briefly because they're all fucked up in the space-time continuum?
>Was it a coincidence that the Gogols couldn't find him anywhere in any galaxy until that phone gave away their position? Were they looking in vain for a needle in a haystack, or are they actually capable of scanning the whole universe with precision and were puzzled it wasn't working and he appeared totally gone?
>How big of a coincidence is it that of all places in the universe, Dandy happened to bump into the lady from the alien registry at a restaurant? If there are countless Dandies everywhere in all sorts of timelines right now, this wouldn't be nearly as low of odds as occurring.
Also I'm banking my chips on Dandy's "secret weapon", a supernova-level explosion in something the size of a surfer doll, being what the Gogol are after. Due to Dandy's job making him travels to the far reaches of the universe all the time, if anyone would stumble across something profound way out there, he'd be one of the first to do so.
I think its pretty fitting that the same artist who sings the Space Dandy ED also did Tatami Galaxy's ED.
>I guess the style is jazz
No? It's pop.
Internet Relay Chat?
A bunch of guys who hang out on the IRC channel that are actively looking for popular shows to try and troll both /a/ and people outside of /a/ that come to discuss the show. For example KLK, and now space dandy.
So dandy is pretty much just having adventures in different universes? Cool, That explains the ending of the 1st episode
that's pretty autistic
I wish mods did their job on /co/
I'm digging on the show. Something's definitely up a little bit deeper than him just having terrible memory, because like...well, they fucking exploded. To a really kick-ass song, but still.
Although the humor needs some work, it hits my love for fun thins on space spot on. Visually is really good and I can't wait for the OST.
>you will never watch anime in your own comfy spaceship
>tfw no QT
>you will never watch anime in your own comfy spaceship
You mean you still don't own an Oculus Rift ? What are you waiting for ?
But it's not the real deal man
Sounds like an asian version of 'the bird and the bee'. Like literally.
I like the theories but watanabe dose has a habit of of making at least on episode of his shows where the cast gets killed off.
After listening to Yakushimaru Etsuko for a while, you'd stopped caring about her song's lyrics.
look up penelope pitstop by breakbot
I really like like '8bit love'
Is he a Schroedinger's cat?
Fuck this is good. What genre is this?
idk id put it in the same genre as daft punk. His songs always change it up baby is another good song by him.
I can't tell if this is a compliment or an insult to her work
I think i'ts called something like nu disco
I hope this is true.
Because otherwise it appears to be like Looney Tunes in space instead of a sci-fi because of how they survived shit like planet-destroying explosions and getting sucked by black holes.
Shit like those are why it's impossible to take this show seriously.
It's more evident when she's composing for Soutaiseiriron
>And then there are the lyrics—it's like various types of otaku splashed their fantasies and daydreams against the music sheets. “Jigoku Sensei” is a Japanese schoolgirl (Nabokov's) Lolita story in pop song format; “Fushigi Descartes” has to do with supernatural phenomena, with the main line saying, “Even if you're a ghost that's OK with me/ If you're a ghost that would be even better/ If I were a ghost wouldn't that be OK with you?”; the song “Shikaku Kakumei (Square Revolution)” describes a guy from the 25th century running away from the Time-Space Police and meeting a girl from the 22nd century; “Renaissance” is about, um, mathematics.
that doesn't really say much, I can write a song about a man taking a shit in outer space and fornicating with his own fecal matter and it can either be the most famous musical masterpiece ever conceived or the shittiest thing ever made.
Soutaiseiriron is a good band to me
What I'm trying to say is that her songs are so good that you don't even care about the lyrics anymore.
Me too. Have you listened to Town Age? Shit's amazing.
>In other words, you can't get any information about this band other than from their music. It's like they want to be the Thomas Pynchon or Salinger of J-pop. But is that even possible? Can a rock band succeed without publicizing their image or personalities at all?
So they're The Residents but for J-pop? Neat.
Personally I like Synchroniciteen only because this fucking song is in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldsil7KfaLE
I really like YOU & IDOL in Town Age, the steel drums are nice. Bataco and ジョンQ are also nice songs.
>impossible to take seriously
>implying youre supposed to take space dandy seriously
>what are jokes
I really liked Tatsumi Tantei and Kyuushin myself.
Also something for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1_QLjEy6Pg
Holy shit thank you
Would you go on a journey with Meow across the universe to find the best ramen and cutest girls?
>In astrophysics, spaghettification (sometimes referred to as the noodle effect) is the vertical stretching and horizontal compression of objects into long thin shapes (rather like spaghetti) in a very strong non-homogeneous gravitational field, and is caused by extreme tidal forces.
>mfw they were spaghettified when traveling to the ramen dimension
Well this anime got interesting after knowing this theory.
Just pointing out that ep1 ending has not actually been "retconned".
>before arriving on that planet they pull a quantum string
>this is supposed to cause space-time distorsions, including multiple dimensions/universes
>the crew from ep1 did die in the end, and in ep2 we see a crew from a parallel universe
>this is also true for the villain, whose ship explodes too at the end of ep1
>related: in ep2 Dandy is more focused on boobs rather than ass
Also, best ED ever.
Are people really under the impression that the deaths in episode 1 were retconned?
I thought everyone was past the grade school level to be able to use their context clues
I know, but trust me I've seen this complaint about ep2 from so many people now...
I want to kiss QT
