Will any season surpass summer of 2010?
SYD, Denyuuden, Amagami and Campanella were the best shows that season.
What about Shiki?
I'm not sure what you're smoking but I want some too.
For me, nothing can surpass spring 2007
Didn't watch it, but I enjoyed reading the threads made by people who did.
Salsa a best girl that season. Golem.
That season was so bad I actually almost quit watching anime forever. I've still not finished any of the shows I picked up that season.
6.5 years later, Tetsuko no Tabi still not subbed.
>no death note
You could have learned to speak perfect Japanese in that time, anon. Why haven't you?
I remember picking up only Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi out of those series for Summer 2010.
Disappointed with the ending, but I didn't dislike it.
m33w actually finished it like last year while no one was looking
don't worry, I'm sure Triad's working on it right now
What's a good season for you, tough guy?
>that True Tears picture
Oh yeah, back in the day it was supposed to be an adaptation, not an original production, right?
These were the shows I watched, dropped Occult Academy, Nurarihyon, LOLHeroes, Tono to Issho (textbook awful japanese humor), Ookamisan.
HoTD peaked at episode 8, The first half of Shiki was boring, Amagami was dull (and first half has Sae, so shitty)
Fall 2013 was better.
>Only 18 shows
"Anime is dying" they said.
Death Note was fall 2006. We got our charts from 2ch back then. And we had to walk 15 miles in the snow to get them! With no shoes!
Not enough mecha.
>Toward the Terra
>Seto no Hanayome
>Seirei no Moribito
There's also other good stuff like True Tears, Kaze no Stigma, Bokurano, sola, Heroic Age, Ookiku Furikabutte, Skull Man etc. Such a good season.
at what, being complete shit?
The wrost seizon of anime ever nown
Jesus that was nearly 4 years ago. It seemed like I watched them just yesterday.
Makes the whole season shit automatically.
Thank god it never came back.
Picked up three series far after their broadcast schedules: Seto no Hanayome, Saiunkoku Monogatari and Overdrive.
Did anyone rage about what happened to Mikoto in Overdrive?
We will never get a season like that again.
2007 is anime's 1998.
What's the deal with True Tears? It didn't even air in the season of that other picture.
Also Sasami Magical Girls Club looks like a shota anime with her hair cropped out. I was tricked for a second.
Fuck you. I liked it...for scientific reasons.
Sasami happened in the Tenchiverse, IIRC.
Surpass? Summer '10 was kind of shitty imo. Couple alright shows like SYD and Mistudomoe, almost all the rest of it quite forgettable. '11 and '12 and '13 were all between better to much much better.
I'm partial to '13 myself as best in recent memory, it had fucking everything -
However '12 had Joshiraku, Jinrui and YuruYuri 2, so I'm kind of at an impasse there because YY and Jinrui are both top 10 all-time favs for me.
Nigga you dont know anything about anything.
I know, thank god for Xros Wars
You are talking so much shit this looks like a scat ferish thread
I assume they just used whatever picture they found on the anime's website. GA II and True Tears were both made by Broccoli.
Some of these charts have errors, as some shows got pushed back a season at the last second.
Spring 07 is hard to top, but fall 2012 is my personal favorite.
In his defense, the plot was super interesting.
Oh man, that OVA. That fucking OVA. The memories are all coming back now.
>fall 2012 was 20 years ago
how time flys
>Litchi Hikari Club
>Seitokai no Ichizon 2
Man, that sure was a disappointing season.
Holy jesus, 2006 sure was a shitty year.
At least we got Haruhi and Death Note.
Agreed. It was the season I was most hyped for I can remember and nothing came through. JoJo did ok for being budget starved.
'12 was overall a pretty crappy year until Fall came along and by itself tilted the balance all by itself. So many good shows; if someone didn't like that whole season then they are both tasteless and don't like anime period.
>No VN translation ever
I liked the anime.
The only shows I really enjoyed from that season were SSY, Chuu2, ZnT, JJBA, Magi, GuP, Jormungand, Medaka Box and Psycho-Pass; I've seen better.
>still not subbed
Isn't the second season of SZS partially unsubbed? I've never seen any subs of it that don't include the middle episodes subbed by [anon], /a/ users and not a real group.
Picked K (because simulcast), Little Busters and Robotics;Notes. R;N is still stalled because I'm still not done with Steins;Gate. Picked up Chuu2 right before Ren aired.
Which episode or R;N are you on? It gets really good during the second half.
>>Highschool of the dead
Fuck these charts the only things I've seen n any of them are Kyousougiga and Gurren Laggan.
Pic related is best year.
Episode 9. That's probably the part where Nae Tennouji debuts.
I'm the only person on /a/ who remembers Busou Shinki besides the "redesign masuta" thread
I think you typed the last digit wrong
Spring 2011 was fantastic.
>dat Kaiji 2
>dat steins gate
Fuck you, I remember it.
oh my god
compare that stuff to today and just...wow
what happened to anime?
Most seasons since have.
>I thought Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun was the best thing I'd seen in years
>everyone else thought it was average
not even a shoujofag
It got better.
You can thank Yamakan.
I liked Spring 2012 a lot.
>Mysterious Girlfriend X
>Polar Bear Cafe
From what I watched on Animax, it looks like a happy series.
That shit was literally the beginning of the end of my normalfag life.
It was saved.
It's okay, there are 100+ series every year, and almost all of them have their fans.
I miss that show. It was pretty great.
Name a year better than 2011 you can't.
>Pingdrum, meduka, S;G, Horizon, Idolm@ster
I don't feel like it, you win this round
I remember that season well.
>Polar Bear Cafe
That show had great threads at the beginning. They only averaged about 50 posts, but there was absolutely no shitposting. Slowly but surely as the show continued to air the threads drew in less and less posts until there eventually wasn't any threads at all. It was really sad to see, but a great show.
Anime got better
I really liked the episode of this show with the out-of-date robot whose oldest memory was a space opera OP
Damn, that was a good season.
>darker than Black
Damn, this was also a good season.
Sekai Seifuku - Bouryaku no Zvezda
shame about the ending, seems like he wrote himself into a corner
>there wasn't a single person on /a/ to watch Polar Bear Cafe all the way to the end with me
I think it ended artificially. Either it got canceled, or they told him to end it so they could make a two-cour anime of it, or he just got sick of it. It's really too bad though.
The only good show on that list is Shiki.
>Didn't watch Towards the Tera
You missed the best show on that list.
>no one said anything about Sengoku Basara
The livethreads were diamonds. Fuck me, this was four years ago? It literally feels all of that was a year ago.
>dat feel no season 3 and got a crappy movie to show for it.
Holy shit that season. I didn't even realize how many good shows were there until looking back at this list here.
2014 is truly the year anime is saved
I'm fucking watching 21 shows right now and I'm not dropping any of them, the most I've watched at once during a season was 5
Winter 2014 is the shit
>Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
>Plus a bunch more series that I stuck with until the end, even if they weren't great or memorable.
Pretty good season.
This is the 3rd time today I have seen a mention of asobi no iku yo, what is up with that?
>>I thought Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun was the best thing I'd seen in years
Holy fuck, I don't remember 2007 being SO good.
>This summer marks three years since DESTINY began
picked half of them
2011 > 2012 > 2010 > 2014 > 2013 > 2009
I'm watching a lot this season, but I doubt any of it except maybe WUG and Chuu4 will be remembered even 3 seasons from now.
Im watching 15 shows right now, 2014 is based as fuck so far and I love it
WUG will be remembered for how much of a cash grab it was by Yamakan after he made such a fool of himself with Fractale.
Chuu4 will be remembered because KyoAni.
Sakura Trick will be remembered for years to come.
Fractale was pretty good, fuck you
Chuu2 is the only KyoAni show that I've ever liked, so at least for me that's not why I'll remember it.
>Mysterious Girlfriend X
>Fractale was pretty good
Yeah, but it didn't "save anime" or even do well in sales. Which is why everyone laughed at it because Yamakan acted like such a prude faggot.
Then he goes and makes WUG.
>Fractale was pretty good
>Chuu2 is the only KyoAni show that I've ever liked,
I'm not so sure about that. I have a feeling that Tonari no Seki-kun will be remembered at least, and so will Sekai Seifuku if it doesn't suck.
Sekai Seifuku will be remembered for the designs and TYPE-MOON.
>all those 1 cour shows that are truly great but never get talked about again after they are done airing and they will never get a second season
Like tears in the rain.
> Sora no Woto
> Hanamaru Youchien
> Nodame Cantabile
> Hidamari Sketch
Glorious Fall 2004
It happens a lot. While I used to lament how terrible it was when a unique show like Jinrui, Kaiba or Sora no Woto ended, overall it's still for the best. It's on the same lines of why it's better for a species to reproduce sexually rather than cloning itself; with all the variance between all the shows year to year, things can and do evolve. The industry would be stagnant if it was only the couple of popular shows year after year. Sure a lot of shows year to year are similar in concept/design, but many shows with similar plots and chars are not even remotely similarly written/drawn/executed, and so there is still a lot of variance within those concepts in terms of how good they actually are.
It's also good that good series don't tend to live long because that way they don't get the chance to develop big, horrible fanbases. No matter the anime, the bigger the fanbase the worse it gets, because more people = higher odds of faggots doing faggot shit and tainting things. A flower should be appreciated while it's shining, but also allowed to wither and be fondly remembered, instead of be artificially propped up/glued together with nowhere else to turn. Otherwise we'll end up like /co/, desperately clinging to a couple of shitty shows, becoming mindless drones defending them because it's all they've fucking got period. /mlp/ is that same coddling behavior to the extreme. We don't have that bullshit because we aren't allowed to, because the face of anime is always changing season to season. That is actually precisely what makes us better than them.
Whichever season had Code Geass Season 1.
