Today was a good day. Let's make tonight a good night.
Aguri is still a bitch.
Why is Rin such a sniper?
That's true. Rider is for boys so it was more leeway than Precure but the biggest problem for Precure right now in my opinion is consistency, not only of the formula but of the writers too. It's almost like none of them try to spice things up, which they do, Ace was a "fresh breeze" after all, but not in a manner that is also appropriate for the little girls. I've always said that while Smile and Doki are as different as possible they share one very important thing: They both went to the extreme of whatever they settled to be and decided to forgo all the other aspects that are also part of the series. I hope from the bottom of my soul that HaCha goes for a far more simple but balanced approach like Fresh.
I wonder how much Toei/Bandai actually try to meddle with Precure to be honest, and if the writers let themselves be buttfucked by them or if they actually try to fight back. I know that has happened many times in Rider, W writer whose name eludes me now butted head with Toei all the time, biggest example I can think of was how Bandai wanted W colors to be Red and Black but he fought with them because he wanted it to be Green and Black.
>Mana and Regina front and center, holding hands
>Rikka struggling for relevance to Mana
>MakoP far away and sad
>Alice outside everything drinking tea
Dokidoki in a nutshell right here.
>Bandai wanted W colors to be Red and Black but he fought with them because he wanted it to be Green and Black
Of all the dumb things to fight over...
I do think because of how young Precure is, they may still be trying to find a sustainable formula that can carry the franchise. Kamen Rider and even Super Sentai have tropes (hate this word) and themes they can always fall back on if they have nothing else.
Sentai has the team aspect, red being the central character (even if he isn't the leader outright), giant robo battles that ALWAYS happen, etc. Kamen Rider has the slightly more mature themes, lone rida, belts, justice, and so on.
Does Precure really have something that we can say is present in most/all seasons beyond magical girls, fairies, and toys?
Having the same colors all the time is kind of boring, especially if the personalities actually have anything to do with the colors. (In PreCure the connection is tenuous at best, which is good, because predictable personalities would be more boring.)
>Bandai wanted W colors to be Red and Black but he fought with them because he wanted it to be Green and Black.
...Wait, really? How strange. W's base form being green and black makes perfect sense, as it combines with a number of other design elements (his scarf, his wind theme) in what is obviously a callback to the original. Even the 2-in-1 thing can be seen as a callback to Rider 1 and 2, who shared a series, and following through with that, Joker Extreme is basically him doing a Double Rider Kick with one body.
why are the heartcath dresses so lewd
do they want that the lil girls that watch the show begin to dress like that believing that it will make them badass
Midriffs are a tool of justice.
Maybe they wanted the base form to be Heat/Joker, with a fire scarf and all, and also Fuuto would have been the fire-y city instead of the windy city, located near a big volcano and with gangsters firing guns at each other all the time and salarymen getting fired left and right as relevant plot elements. The firemen would also have had a large role in the plot, somehow.
Well, Toei did produce halloween costumes of them. So I'd reckon yes.
Three more weeks until our happiness is fully charged
>not having your happenis constantly charged
Kamen Rider's real main recurring thing is that the villains and the heroes use the same powers. Even more than bugs, this element is constant.
For Precure, it tried to start out with a recurring gimmmick: "futari wa". It just didn't work out. We say that to mean the first series these days, so it's easy to forget that it actually refers to the first three. The handholding two-as-one transformations were supposed to be Precure's thing, in the beginning, I think. I wouldn't have minded them taking it further - if you need four Cures, have two groups of two, or have any of them able to transform by holding hands with anyone else. Or they could even hold hands in a circle or something. I think ths is a wasted opportunity.
Most of Precure's other defining elements seem less significant because they're shared with toku series, I think. If "coloured teams with Red as the leader" is a defining trait of Super Sentai, "coloured teams with Pink as the leader" are just as much a defining trait of Precure. And just like Riders have belts, Cures have Communes. Instead of Justice, they fight for Love. Stuff like that is easy to dismiss, because it doesn't feel original or specific to Precure.
I want to lick hime's sweet eyebrows
You will never wear an Itsuki costume like the slutty little girl you are ;_;
Nothing lewd here. You're reading too much into it, yep. Defiitely.
I blame Splash Star for that. Toei probably tried going for a V3 with them, but something just didn't click in the final product.
But yeah Precure does just feel like an animated Sentai for girls, which as you said just simply has to do with the fact that Sentai did it first. Keeping the hand-holding would have helped, but I still feel like Precure needs that one last push to have a working formula. Dare I say it, I think sans-Smile, the second era of Precure nearly got it. Here's hoping HaCha finds that sweet spot.
Not saying that Smile (or any season) was, just that they all so far feel standalone and are only really connected to Precure in name only.
Why is Candy such a bitch?
>but something just didn't click in the final product
Copypasting too many elements and, even worse, designs. At a first glance, SS is a Chinese knock off of FW.
get out ,,,, we dont like slutty girls
I wish they had tried copying KR rather than super sentai. At the very least, it's more versatile.
This is another good point, actually. Kamen Rider has the original seven and the post-Decade continuities, plus Decade to tie everything together. Super Sentai has every series ostensibly following one another in real time, at least according to Gokaiger.
But Precure has nothing like that. The crossover movies don't even keep proper continuity with themselves, let alone with the main series. Precure needs something like Shocker or Foundation X to tie everything together.
>Having the same colors all the time is kind of boring
That's one of the things I don't like of HaCha. Same colorset as Doki.
>especially if the personalities actually have anything to do with the colors. (In PreCure the connection is tenuous at best, which is good, because predictable personalities would be more boring.)
Heck, no. Precure is color-coded as fuck. I'd say even more than Sentai.
Blue: Ladylike and smart
Yellow: Kawai moe uguu
Green is the only color that has no archetype associated to it because there's been only two Green Cures.
Funny that you say that while posting a Smile picture which is the most color coded Precure to date.
The main recurring thing in Precure is that the plot involves a faraway fairy kingdom that needs saving. I think that's terrible though, they could try so many different things.
The other thing as some people say is that they predominantly use physical combat unlike other magical girls.
Also, Wizard villains didn't use rings.
Well that's pretty much what V3 was. The final product was just more polished than season 1 and made it what many fans consider the real "start" to the franchise with the first season being a prototype.
When you describe it like this, it just sounds like Futari wa+Max Heart vs Splash Star, at least to me. It's just very confusing to me as to why SS is considered the black sheep of the franchise when V3 is held up on a pedestal.
I don't think that we're in a position where we could (or should) tie everything together.
Everything happening in the same world makes no sense. Everything happening in different worlds would directly contradict the crossover movies.
Not like it matters anyways, giving series that kind of continuity would solve none of the issues the individual entries and the franchise as a whole have.
>The other thing as some people say is that they predominantly use physical combat
I like no continuity. Canon arguments regarding Rider and Sentai are the dumbest shit ever. If there's something I'm glad Precure has never tried ever is to connect the series in any kind of manner.
>Also, Wizard villains didn't use rings.
Do you know what the Wizards powers came from? From Phantoms.
Some did. And Haruto's magical ability comes from his phantom: his powers are from the same source as every monster of the week and enemy general.
Yeah, Tsubomi is so dumb.
And Erika is a god damn genius.
Alice is so moe, god damn.
And remember when Aguri was all about sports?
And MakoP is such a gosh darn bitch.
Red doesn't fit for Passion or Ace, Blue doesn't fit Ellen or Erika, Yellow doesn't fit Itsuki or Alice, and Purple doesn't really fit MakoPi after the first few episodes. Heck, Pink don't fit Tsubomi or Mana.
>A few exceptions overrule the majority.
>Blue: Ladylike and smart
>Yellow: Kawai moe uguu
Not all tomboys are red (Hibiki, Nagisa and Saki all spring to mind). Also Setsuna was a Red, and she was not tomboy at all.
I have no counterargument.
>Funny that you say that while posting a Smile picture which is the most color coded Precure to date.
I know, I'm using Smile as an example of what I want to avoid.
I wonder if HaCha will do this. that little conversation on Twitter piqued my interest.
>Precures all over the world
>they could be referring to all worlds of Precure being on the same place
>Enemy is invading Earth
>we get episodes looking back on the legacy
When there are only 10 seasons, pretty much.
>Blue: Ladylike and smart
>Yellow: Kawai moe uguu
This literally only applies to Yes5 and Smile.
That many exceptions? That means that there is no such rule.
Mana. Tsubomi. Love. Did Saki even fail anything?
>Blue: Ladylike and smart
Miki. Erika. Ellen.
>Yellow: Kawai moe uguu
Setsuna. Aguri. Heck, that's two against Rin and not-Rin.
That's kind of arguable. And isn't really a defining "coding" personality trait.
ZETTAI NI YURUSANAI
And considering that Smile is thematically a remake of Yes, that's not saying much.
That you people can single out the exceptions so easily just prove the point further.
Saki was, but it probably mattered the least with her.
>every fucking episode of Suite.jpg
This shit rivals "ARIENAI!"
Precure's main gimmick right here.
Have you seen all the other Riders? 80% of the new ones are black and red. It's a good thing to fight for.
See now if there's something Precure writers have figured out, its the loli cure formula. I'm hard pressed to think of a single season where the girls' younger selves weren't great.
Toei should just make a whole season about loli cures.
>the plot involves a faraway fairy kingdom that needs saving
Not in the sequels (to a large extent), Fresh (although fairy kingdoms existed) and Heartcatch.
When the exceptions apply to most seasons, it stops being a rule.
Doki didn't have that at all. I don't think Smile had much either.
And yet most every non-final boss villain gets redeemed in the end anyway.
Well, there are always fairies at least.
Not in the early seasons.
In FW and SS, they fucking meant it.
If we had had inter-series crossovers in HaCha we'd have heard of it by now. There's no way they would be able to keep such a thing hidden, they would be advertizing it to left and right too because it would be a gigantic money maker.
>That you people can single out the exceptions so easily just prove the point further.
Your point is easy to disprove.
That does not make your point better.
I don't think the Smiles were capable of negative feelings of any kind. At least not directed at others. All the Smiles bottle up their emotions internally and let them fester until they manifest as mental conditions.
There were over two decades of difference. Even since the beginning, Precure was riding on a lot more lore (both from other mahou shoujo and toku) than Kamen Rider. Audiences of differnet times are also used to different things.
Where V3 looked like an earnest experiment to get everything right, SS looked like a ball of fear of change.
Precure's First Era left very few survivors in the bad guy's side. You can practically count them on one hand.
Let's hope HaCha saves us from the redeeming curse. It's the 3rd era after all.
Are you implying they wouldn't keep a surprise, especially for the 10th Anniversary of Precure?
Well, there are legacy cards. That confirms nothing though.
ZETTAI NI MAKENAI
When exceptions are well over 30% of the total, yes, they do overrule.
Are you implying Toei is capable of keeping a surprise?
Aguri would like to say hi.
You can probably literally count them on one hand. The shota from Max Heart, and I guess Desperaiah technically. Who else?
YOKU WAKANNAI KEDO
Not more than the rest of the team.
>Are you implying they wouldn't keep a surprise, especially for the 10th Anniversary of Precure?
Did they for Decade and Gokaiger? No.
There's no reason to keep it hidden here either then. Toei and Bandai think with money on their heads, not sentimentalism.
Those are just for the toys. Sentai and Rider have had that kind of stuff for years. Toys themed after previous groups for use on the current series toy.
Kiriya reincarnated which sorta counts. And Michiru and Kaoru.
Oh, and Bunbee
Bunbee and somehow Kawarino-san.
That scene was very Gainax.
>Are you implying Toei is capable of keeping a surprise?
There have always been legacy cards and crossover cards, for collecting or for the arcade games. HaCha s just the first to unify the character card toys with the series items.
Bunbee is an exception though, he was not redeemed, he turned good on it's own.
Desparaiah is stuck in hell, I'm not sure if she counts. But hey, she's immortal, so she might as well.
I thought Shiri was just a look-a-like.
After liking seasons were the cures did argue with each other, this bothered me in Smile.
Kiriya?, Hikaru, Bumbee, Michiru, Kaoru. Yup, one hand.
i want to lick not-nagisa's salty eyebrows
But the original post didn't say redemption, it said survivors.
And honestly, Michiru and Kaoru are kind of in another boat. If we're talking about kiling villains, no one complains about Eas and Siren. It's the lesser conversions, like the epilogue-only reincarnations of Heartcatch or the hugs of death that final bosses receive, that people mean when they say that the new series are less ruthless.
Muse did leak months before her debut.
I want that Muse plushie.
Not in this thread you don't. Watching precure is one thing, but buying merch is decidedly pedo territory.
What makes you feel good, /pc/?
I wonder if Miyuki would flip her shit once she sees Cure Princess
Isn't Shirayuki Hime the japanese name of that one fairy tale character?
Let's see how much people die and do not die in the 2nd Era. Let's include movie killcount too.
Setsuna, Westar, Soular, Toymajin.
Northa, Klein, Moebius (Not killed by the Cures)
Sasorina, Kumojacky, Cobraja?
The Desert Generals are a strange group. They technically survive but also technically die as the personalities and memories they had while being Desert Generals are erased completely. For all intends and purposes they died but they survived at the same time too. I'll just count them on both sides.
Sasorina, Kumojacky, Cobraja?
Dark, Sabaaku (Not killed by the Cures), Dune.
Trio de Minor, Mephisto, Noise.
Trio de Major, Howling.
Wolfrun, Aka Oni, Majorina.
Demon King, Nico.
Joker (Not killed by the Cures) Pierrot.
>financially supporting a thing you enjoy is bad
Screw you. You can't take my tiny Soul Guitar Rod from me.
That Muse plushie is kawaii as all fuck.
This is prime crossover material that should happen in NS3 or any other movie.
Complaining about things and other peoples' opinions.
Thank you. I was intending to make that gif for a while now.
As expected of history's cutest Precure.
Miyuki x Hime OTP
>It's the lesser conversions, like the epilogue-only reincarnations of Heartcatch or the hugs of death that final bosses receive, that people mean when they say that the new series are less ruthless.
Even if they reincarnated for all intends and purposes the Desert Generals did get killed.
Way different than, let's say, the three stooges, which felt like they were getting redeemed just so that they could say "Look! We didn't kill them!" It felt rather shoehorned and last minute.
>It felt rather shoehorned and last minute.
It totally wasn't though, but okay.
Even in Smile, more villains were eradicated than redeemed.
Survivors (coincidentally, all in cute form by the end):
> Dark King or whatever from Nico's storybook
> Bad End Happy
> Bad End Peace
> Bad End Sunny
> Bad End March
> Bad End Beauty
Honey VA when? Hell, ANY info about what Honey/Yuuko is like when?
>Counting the BE Smiles in the kill count
You might as well be counting all the Akanbes too then.
>implying Honey is real
What will you do when it's revealed that Toei wanted to "trick" the viewers again like they did with Ace, except this time they advertised a Cure that simply doesn't exist?
Clock or no clock?
I counted them as mid-bosses, mainly because despite their short existence they did receive much more characterization than any specific Akanbe ever did.
No clock, no life.
You've sure got a Smile hate boner going.
What group of cures had the highest killcount?
I sure as hell don't want her to be Ribbon though. I would even tolerate the Honey is Seiji theory, but not that shit.
Thinking about Yayoi and Miyuki.
Do Sunackies count?
>A boo boo someone said something I disagree with ;___;
What's wrong with her being Milk 2.0?
Futari Wa or Yes! 5.
Literally bags of sand
Series for girls, they said.
I wonder how the Desert Kingdom fares now, hell, I wonder if there were Sunackies left on the moon base at all.
When Precure used to be manly and hotblooded.
Good times that hopefully HaCha will bring back.
Do you (or anyone else) have that NS3 promo image with Kaiji and Waldo?
White and Passion are left handed?
I will also be very sad if Honey is a fairy. I'd be quite happy if she's Seiji, though.
Milk is a 6th ranger, she gets to be special. I don't want Honey to be non-human, because HaCha seems to have all four members being relatively equal.
>Diamond is Unbreakable
Was that a JoJo reference?
Quick, someone go and re-watch Futari Wa, Max Heart and Fresh to see if they are left handed in the series too.
Precure has always been manly.
Passion maybe. White is probably just used to firing Marble Screws left handed out of necessity of the stance.
>Actually wanting Male Cures
Oh, how quickly they grow.
I'm on it.
>I don't want Honey to be non-human, because HaCha seems to have all four members being relatively equal.
Also because Honey's civilian form looks delicious.
Resolute in her loyalty to Mana despite countless NTRs. Truly made out of diamond.
I said tolerate, and Honey would be a complete sex change, not a male cure.
Honoka is indeed left handed. And right minded huehuehuehuehuefuckingkillme
We're talking Itsuki 2.0, not an actual trap here.
Yuuko a cute indeed. And people were saying she looked too plain at first!
And here's Taste the Rainbow for double confirmation.
Diamond actually breaks very easily. It's the resistance to scratches that's good. She said kizu, so it's right in Japanese though.
Look for a shot of her writing or something. Those moves require her to shoot left-handed because of their stances.
>Also because Honey's civilian form looks delicious.
Does she really? For me she has the blandest design in years.
She still does look plain. I hate how everything she wears is yellow after Megumi and Hime had just a little bit of pink and blue in their outfits.
Well they are holding hands duh.
The thing is that there's just something about her that they're hiding. Goddamnit, Toei, I actually want you to spoil me on her.
Well, that doesn't prove anything. How else would they make the pose?
Try to find a shot where she's writing.
Check the episode where they write stuff in their diaries to each other, that should have one.
Do you want her to use her right hand while holding hands? Even if I was right-handed, I'd have to use my left one.
Next time on America's Most Wanted Serial Killers - When good girls go bad over cake.
Precure will never be as hot-blooded as the first few seasons.
Ozma, what the fuck are you doing in Precure? Get back to the fucking Sky Garden where you belong.
It's plain, but really really cute.
When Toei WANTS to keep a secret, they do a very good job of it.
>Implying HC wasn't Hotblooded as fuck
>Implying Y5 wasn't some pussy shit
I'll see if I can dig up something of Honoka writing, then. I'm still marathoning Futari wa, so I'm not going past episode 35.
Nice blue banana hair
Like Isuzu in Log Horizon.
I want to fuck Blossom's ass ferociously.
>Does she really? For me she has the blandest design in years.
I like her girl-next-door appeal. She's plain like vanilla ice cream. Some people like vanilla best.
No, it's her penis. We already figured it out.
I'm trying the same, I'll check after episode 35.
just like Jojo
I like vanilla bean. Would that be equivalent to adding freckles?
Pls no sexualize
are there even any good Tsubomi doujins?
She used her right hand to call out. She's not left handed.
>The thing is that there's just something about her that they're hiding.
What makes you think so? I think you're all trying to find a big twist or surprise where there isn't any.
I mean so far, most of the scenes I've been looking at, she does actions with her left hand. Even if it's not writing, people usually do most things with their dominant hand
I'm the guy who was saying she's bland as fuck, and I have to say that adding a small detail like freckles would make her 10/10 in my book. It's not that plain or simple designs are bad, it's just that she's unremarkable even in between the unremarkable.
And that fucking ribbon being only on her right strap is killing my autism.
But why Passion though? I found this clip and the gesture she does at the end is left handed even though she could have used her right hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBpyXjXlswk
A lot of lefties in the class, though...
But she handles the knife with her right hand on both the farming and the sleepover episode.
I use a fork with my left hand and cut with my right hand. Some people are ambidextrous, or close enough.
Maybe she's ambidextrous?
Maybe the animators are inconsistent because it was the first season on a tight budget?
She could be left handed in the script but the thing is these shows have multiple animation directors and it's unlikely they would give a shit about remembering stuff like that.
I could see raising your non-dominant hand. I don't think it'd be that unusual.
This is somewhat solid evidence. But are there really no shots of her writing?
>I use a fork with my left hand and cut with my right hand.
Good on you for following etiquette.
>I use a fork with my left hand and cut with my right hand
I think that's how you're supposed to do it regardless of which is your dominant hand.
And on her attack she uses the Harp with her left hand. I think Passion was always cannon lefty.
Using her right hand to hold something.
Depends on your tastes. What kinds of things do you want?
In the US, you're supposed to move the fork to your right hand and cut with your left, I'm pretty sure.
I don't know if this is a righty or lefty pose.
Nope, even Americans are supposed to follow proper use of knife in right and fork in left.
Anything but futa. Preferably not huge tits either. Yuri, Het, Faceless man rape, so long as it has good art, bring it on.
Passion being a leftie makes no sense. She was born in labyrinth, a world where everything is dictated by Moebius so that everything can be perfect and I'm sure as hell a computer program wouldn't want a leftie ruining his perfect Utopia.
Unless everyone else in Labyrinth is a leftie too because Moebius preferred lefties for some reason.
Good fer her. It's about time she murdered that screentime hog.
>she's unremarkable even in between the unremarkable
What if that's the point? Like, "You don't have to stand out physically to be a hero to somebody."
But that's wrong, you uncultured bumpkin.
It's lefty. If I were to do that, I'd leave my right arm on the front, not the left.
Episode 12. The science fair episode.
It's ogre people. I was wrong. She's a righty.
> Dropping (parts of) buildings on enemies
Cures should do this more often.
Man Precure's action budget is awful. You can still see the wires they use to jump around in the fights.
Now move on to Passion.
Honoka is ambidextrous because she's friggin Honoka.
Or her handedness switched as a symbol of her rebellion to Moebius.
Passion is fucking broken man.
Evil, remember? So she uses the sinister hand.
Let's just settle with ambidextrous.
Someone else will have to do that. I haven't even downloaded Flesh yet.
Who's the best Smile and why is it Akane?
She does the harp twirl with her left hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6NzmtEj6GY
Was a righty when she was Eas then?
Does that mean every villain is a leftie too?
Or she was just raised to write with her right hand. Some people are like that, they'll prefer their left hand for many activities but still write with their right like me, who bats and throws balls as a leftie, among other things.
So Honoka confirmed for not gay?
It's over shippers. Honoka wants the D.
I don't think attacks should be used as base for this.
Then Honoka's is right.
Possibly. At the most she's ambidextrous.
I know as a lefty, I do a lot of things right-handed like batting, using a mouse, and holding a guitar.
I'm right handed for weapons, I thought that was implied. She's attacking like a lefty.
It's possible that different animators are drawing different scenes without any consistent cues concerning her hand preference.
Just finished Max Heart. That was a huge drop from FW; it seemed like Black and White totally forgot how to fight properly. And it was just as I was told—the first half was arguably awful, but it picked up the pace a little bit before the midpoint. I think what went wrong was that there was only a single plotline the entire time, whereas most (every?) other series has a clear first and second half. The finale was really good though, and I don't even mind that pretty much everyone good survived and got to live together. Next up in my personal watching list is Suite. You guys convinced me in the last few threads with all the images of Cure Rhythm.
The only reason she plays wingman for Nagisa is so that one day she'll realize that she's her perfect soulmate.
You don't seem to be Brian, so I applaud your pick.
>I think what went wrong was that there was only a single plotline the entire time, whereas most (every?) other series has a clear first and second half
If you disliked that then you'll like Suite a lot. It's segmented in very clear arcs.
She is attacking like a righty you mean. Obviously you position your main hand in the back to do more powerful push and left hand in the front to direct the force.
You misspelled "Best Precure"
You won't be disappointed.
Oh, I forgot to mention how much I loved the like 5 episodes in a row of throwbacks to the first season. All the characters returning like that blond Madonna senpai who's rivals with Nagisa and some of the locations they visited too. I guess if you can't make new interesting things, just go back to old interesting things.
It's relevant because the other three use the Cure stick with their right hand.
You know when I first watched Smile, Akane and Nao weren't really my cup of tea, but looking back they were bretty gud. All the Smiles really grew on me except Reika.
The first episodes of Suite might be hard to watch for some people, but for those who lived through MH they are but a breeze. You're set for enjoyment, considering you wanted more subplots.
Did you not enjoy Ice Sword or Unlimited Ice Works?
Kansai girls are always the best.
If you have Exhentai, here's a few:
> I guess if you can't make new interesting things, just go back to old interesting things.
You're gonna love Smile. Especially if you watch Yes 5 before it.
But she PLAYS it with her right hand.
She's not a lefty.
If it's pushing like you say, then you're right about it. I thought she was swinging it from above in a downwards stroke.
She was good for fight scenes, but her episodes were the most unenjoyable for me. In general I don't like the responsible hime-sama character archetype, so that probably had a lot to do with it.
Beauty's autism moe is the best. She could give Nozomi and Urara a run for their money.
Osaka monkeys pls go.
Then why make her a lefty in the DX2 attack at all? Might be a cannon lefty, but had inconsistent animation. Or just whatever mang.
I was going to go Suite > Yes 5 > Smile > GoGo (maybe)/SS > Doki and then follow next season with everyone here.
Nozomi was ADHD, not autism
Urara was just stupid
Karen was the autistic Y5
Forget Yes 5. Just Suite > Smile
There will never be a Gachaman Crowds x Precure crossover movie.
THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH THE PATH
Gogo is pretty forgettable outside of Kurumi. I don't think you'd miss out on much if you watched it last or skipped it altogether.
Urara is too cute to be just plain stupid. Karen is stupid in a non-amusing way.
Crowds was terrible and I don't want the obnoxious Ruifaggots ruining our threads either.
So there are no left-handed cures.
Well that sucks.
>people actually waited for my subpar speedsubs
>my face when
And here I was sitting dissatisfied with my output and looking for a proper editor (no, sorry, proofreading is not really enough).
Then Aicaps RIP in pieces and there was no CCs.
At least I got Doremi to post the script early, lol.
Guys guys who is gayest Doki^2? I think it's a tie between Regina and Rikka
Kenji Nakamura will never direct a Precure season.
Crowds only issue was having no budget or time. Everything else was excellent.
Rikka is omnisexual, so it's not her. Regina is considerably gayer.
Only good thing of Crowds was Berg. Everything else was terrible, specially Hajime who makes Mana blush in terms of mary sue-ness.
>deconstruction of the magical girl genre that philosophizes and questions the need for individual heroes when the world is connected to the point where ordinary people can step up and do great things
I enjoyed it. Probably because I never watched the original Gatchaman and I'm a sucker for media that relies on babbys first philosophy as a plot point (see: Bioshock).
Mana. Of course.
Rikka is into frogs and Ira and Regina is into papa.
Having an option to Doremi's monopoly is always good. You could always get better and stop being so hard on yourself if you just kept doing it.
>Forget Yes 5
Why would he skip the better version of Smile?
If you were implying he should put something between yes!5 and Smile I would possibly agree though...
We love you LolipopHiphop
So much Yes 5 in a row might burn you out. Maybe switch Smile with Splash Star. Or move Yes 5 to the end.
Doremi only has a monopoly because people let them, both viewers and subbers.
I personally have no problem with the quality of their subs, but competition never hurts unless it turns into shitflinging between the two groups.
Definitely keep it up, tripfriend. You only get better the more you work on it.
>competition never hurts unless it turns into shitflinging between the two groups
It's okay, I'll be the one doing the shitflinging for both groups.
That's good. We were being too supportive and for second I forgot we were on /a/.
>I personally have no problem with the quality of their subs
I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate them, but I do have problems with their quality. Not huge, but enough to notice them. Enough to think that having a different group with different translating styles would be better.
I wouldn't mind if Commie got their shit together and subbed HaCha.
They're already swamped this season, though.
Unless there's a really good reason why I should watch Smile before Yes 5, then I'll stick to the chronological order for those two and put SS in between.
They're only swamped because they insist on taking practically everything HSbot rips and editing them all. If they instead focused on a few good shows each season (and cleaned up their attitudes), they wouldn't get nearly as much flak as they do.
>Unless there's a really good reason why I should watch Smile before Yes 5
There's not. They just want you to switch because muh preferences. Don't let yourself be influenced by those faggots and form your own opinions.
Are the Fresh the only Cures with nicknames?
Akane is going to end up in a news report in 10 years about sexually abusing a junior member of her sorority.
Well, it's not like there are that many groups anymore.
If not for them, it's HS for everything. And that's just not ideal.
Their Suite subs were pretty subpar to me. More in the area of spelling mistakes and that kind of stuff.
Smile I actually prefer them over Aesir because there are a few translation choices Aesir makes that I think are bad and don't like.
Haven't watched enough of Commie's Doki subs to comment on them in relationship to Doremi.
You asipre to be a real translator, right? Nothing is more helpful than practice. You should cotinue to post scripts even if you don't have a proper editor. I know I'd give them a once-over, at least.
I just somehow started going back and forth between older and newer series. I'll get to them all and form my own opinion, but I'm trying to avoid burnout this way.
There is no reason to watch one before the other, though there are similar episodes in them so whichever you watch last will somehow have this "ah, I've already seen this" kind of taste to it, but I think it's really a minor thing.
Commie vs. Doremi is a one-sided fight.
Shiawase no Ouji
Magenta hated Smile so it's no surprise he probably didn't give two shits about translating it.
Don't worry about editors, just dump the translations here and let us shit on them for you.
This. Trust anon.
Both Commie and Doremi have fuck-ups. Commie just picks terrible words for their translations but at least they get the thing right unlike Doremi.
He's talking about Magenta's localization attempts. Even if he hated it he did finish it. That's something to be admired, not many would be able to do that.
I know for a fact that some lines he chose for episode 46 were because he wanted to see if they would annoy people.
How I loved these
The quality of Doremi's translation never rises far above "workmanlike," but I have to give them props for dedication.
I mean seriously, who the fuck actually thought Commie would keep up with Dokidoki for the long haul.
Stop seducing me Erika
They might have been able to, but...
Onore Calculus class!
>tfw I like "get hype" even though it doesn't fit her character
It's like they figured out how to give characters... well, character in their subs, but gave it to the wrong character.
This. Doremi aren't perfect but they're reliable, and I'd argue that that's more important.
Besides, they're only really "not good" when you compare them to seasonal anime groups. They're still a far cry from shit like TV-N holding a monopoly on older toku series.
That's something Commie does a lot.
I think the translator or editor just doesn't realize that characters have a personality different than his own.
I miss Ace's stock finishers
It's just that herkz is a stupid cunt when it comes to anime. He worked on the Grisaia VN translation and that was fucking great, but when anime he's got this urge to make people mad for the fun of it.
Yeah. It's almost impressive how weird Ace sounds from moment to moment.
"Get hype" is from Doremi. The literal translation is Commie's.
I want to Honey's honey.
Well, I'll be.
>Everyone shitting on the Get Hype because hurr Commie
>It's actually Doremi's
I'd argue that Doremi's is more literal, even flavored as it is. She's stating it as a command, not saying "I'm gonna get your heart a-pumpin'!".
Every fucking time, this is hilarious. Guess they are to blame for having such a reputation though.
I was surprised too. Doremi like one anon described, isn't really known for adding a lot of flavor to their script. The one time they do it, they give it to the wrong character.
Though in my opinion it's good and bad. It's great they're trying new things, but they just have to think about how it fits in the context of the script.
Really I think they're both fine...
Neither one is really great or anything.
She's gonna take you back to the past
To show you shitty plots that suck ass
She'd rather have a jikochu take a diarhea dump in her ear
She's the bitchiest Cure you've ever met
She's the murderous Cure Ace
"I shall make your heart go aflutter!" would be your preferred translation, then?
I'm fond of "please be excited".
I'd word it a little less awkwardly but that's closer to what I'd go with, yeah. "Get hype" is a cute way to phrase it though so I'm kind of fond of it, just not so much as something Ace would say.
That's exactly what she's saying.
That sounds a bit like she's desperate.
Then again, Ace.
What exactly does she say in Japanese?
Of course. Did you think I wasn't serious?
Honestly even "tokimekinasai!" itself sounds like something Ace shouldn't say.
I'm not really supporting Doremi's translation, just saying.
"Be excited!" would probably be more correct, but it would still feel wrong in my opinion.
Dokidoki and tokimeki aren't quite the same thing.
>People seriously thought Kyoryuger was gonna go the Precure route and let all the villains off from death
Yeah but at least "Tokimeki is the romanization of the Japanese term ときめき which can mean excitement or heartbeat." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokimeki
i hope HaCha has mooks the Precure could fight before the main monster of the week
They did kill them? Oh wow.
Also, don't call victory until the last episode. They still can be asspulled back somehow.
PLEASE BUY ALL MY TOY SETS
No, he's being made into the vessel of Deboss ala Titan from Magiranger.
We already know it does. To what capacity they'll be utilized, of course, is still up in the air.
>Honestly even "tokimekinasai!" itself sounds like something Ace shouldn't say.
Her attacks and phrases were probably cemented before her character was written in the show and changed some things. They would need to program the toys way early in production for the sound effects.
It does actually have mooks, you're in luck.
Well, why not? She's mentally a grade schooler. She just tries to act fancy. It sounds fine to me.
ZETTAI NI YURUNASAI
I'd watch it. DameDame doing Precure when?
Which Precure season has the most toys? Doki?
And boy, they did a good job with them. My favorite toys by a long shot.
You see, I don't understand this. She becomes adult in her cure form to show her maturity or something, but then not only it's revealed she is not mature at all in her normal form, she isn't even mature in her cure form?
Just like you said, it sounds like she is "acting fancy". Like she is faking it. I thought she was supposed to be all adult and stuff in her cure form.
I'm going to go with >>100147088 . Maybe they thought she was going to be some "outgoing oneechan" character and wrote such line.
Communes, bow, ace box thing, love kiss rouge, lovely pad, harp addon. 6 in all. That might be the most, I dunno.
Suite has the transformation things, the sticks, the bells, love guitar rod. 4? Am I forgetting something?
Ace is still of the same mind in both forms, as far as I can tell. Acting older than she is is her most notable character trait.
Holy shit can you even imagine how much better Doki would be if Aguri's attempts to act mature despite her age were those of a doting oneesan rather than a bitter cunt?
Well, for one, no one would hate Ace.
Her explanation was bullshit. She grows up because she's Ange. The latest episode confirmed it when KJ saw Ange through Ace having the same features.
It'd ruin the contrast between her and Regina. Ange's dark side being more obviously loving than her light side is the whole point.
That's how I thought she would be the instant she appeared... Maybe she would be strict at time, but still the typical doting sister otherwise. I was very wrong.
Those little niggas don't look particularly angry.
Neither did the Sunakies.
Well, they're only kindabads after all.
My new band name.
I'd definitely say they're better than angry-cell-phone-monster-man. He's the worst.
Well, they're probably used for a number of logistical functions, like communicating with other fronts and using an app to create the MotW.
More like 天王. The role of a servant even if angelic doesn't really fit her sue-ness.
Vote for Mana on Elections 2014
Which is more suffering, being an Alice fan, or being a MakoP fan.
What about being both?
Depends on if you prefer your character being ignored or actively shat on until she's nothing but a frail shell of her former self and has to be saved by the ignored character.
Being an Ace fan
because she's attached to a horrible character
Being a Rosetta Balloon fan.
Alice got cute filler episodes and we got to see her make up with Bitchiko Longsurname and fly into outer space.
MakoP got an episode where she has to brush her teeth.
MakoP had a cool episode where she sang the dere partially back into Regina while everyone else fought in the background.
That's gotta count for something...
...Are there any lewd teeth brushing arts floating about?
>MakoP got an episode where she has to brush her teeth.
But she got one of the best animated episode in precure history. Well, maybe not best animated episode, but "best animated focus on a character" moment... kind of thing.
How does it stack up to Kasugano "Movie Quality Animation" Urara?
>MakoP got an episode where she has to brush her teeth.
Makoπalso got this, though.
That looks terrible.
And we all know their ultra will be a ball gown.
More stuff going on so more choreography rather than just SPEND ALL THE FRAMES.
And surprisingly, he didn't draw her nopan there.
This pose looks painful, and what does the kanji say?
>Everyone gets a cool fight
>Makoto gets a walking animation
Even in her own episodes.
That whole episode just made me mad. The generals did sweet fuck all for the entire series and then suddenly they're down in the dirty getting directly kicked in the face like it's an everyday thing.
>Forgetting about the MakoPi and Regina fight before that
Precure power level has always been inconsistent. Besides, this time around, the generals haven't been much stronger than the actual MotW.
>The generals did sweet fuck all for the entire series
Nigger, did you miss the first episode?
And the second?
And all the ones after that?
I wish Mana could have worn those shorts.
What is that from?
"It's saaaaaaaaaad/I'm saaaaaaaaaad".
Why? They see older girls wearing similar stuff in public anyway.
I would eat a brioche over a cake anytime. Though I would also eat something Kanade made over something Saki made anytime.
How am I supposed to get out of this predicament?
You learn to love the tomboy instead of some generic slut.
Ira's gonna get some sugar.
Suite DS game
I'm going to pop her loli hips if you know what I mean.
Is any of the games any good? What are they, beat'em ups + minigames or something?
The two GBA games are pretty fun, they're more 2D action/platform/puzzle games than the overt minigame compilations that the games have since become. That being said out of the DS titles the only ones I've actually played are Heartcatch Precure Oshare Collection and Koe de Asobou (let's play with Voices) the former being a relatively decent mini game compilation while the latter is a game where you can record lines from the Heartcatch series over certain parts of various episodes.
I want to try the Suite DS Game, however the game is nigh impossible to find online and most of the roms for the game do not work due to apparent issues with the rom. A fix was made that allowed the rom to work however every download link for the fixed version are long since dead.
So just to be sure, is this the latest version of the chart? I can't seem to find it anywhere to confirm.
Funny, I though they where the ones who wanted more STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS and kept calling out everyone else for that.
I'm am one of the most staunch fans of Heartcatch, but even I refuse to believe there was no negatives to the series what-so-ever.
Its negative is that it's just too good
tumblr's ideal of a strong female character is centered more around masculinity than not. It's hypocrisy at its finest.
So a strong female character in their eyes is essentially just a man.
- the Heart Seeds are really shitty
Cool, I'll try the GBA ones in my phone for the time being then. If somebody manages to find the working Suite rom, please upload it here, so we can find it in /rs/
There's more than one?
>lower animation quality than average
Understatement of the year
You wouldn't happen to have a screenshot that wasn't a distance shot, would you?
You still here? You can find CCs here 10 min after the episode airs -> http://kitsunekko.net/subtitles/japanese/Doki_Doki!_PreCure/
Good villains? In Yes 5? Are you fucking serious? Did we watch the same show?
Character design looks like shit.
>good main characters
Not to imply I don't love fresh, but holy hell is it QUALITY
Just so you're aware the first GBA game is based of the original Futari Wa and involves just Black and White. It's a puzzle game similar to the lost vikings in that you control both Nagisa and Honoka separately and you need to accomplish various tasks by having one character open a doorway so another character and go through etc, the game is also absurdly long IIRC, something like 5 worlds with ten stages in each (9 stages, one boss) and then once you complete it you can do a new game+ type thing with similar stages except a lot harder.
The Second game is based on Max Heart and has you controller all three characters: Black, White and Luminous, but it's more a dedicated sidescroller platform game, there is five levels (one being called Marchenworld) with 5 stages in each (4 normal levels, one boss) each character gets one stage per level (including Luminous who can actually fight in this game for some reason)
Personally I prefer the Max Heart game over the original, but honestly both are rather fun in their own right.
Call them on that and you're a misogynist pig, or even rapist.
I can't wait to see all those kids to fall over their knees due their own bullshit.
I don't like how HC doesn't has any negative.
Specially how their abilities are really asspulls sometimes.
I thought that was a troll chart. To be honest though, this one isn't much better.
>their abilities are really asspulls sometimes
That applies to most of this series.
I would add a comment about Yuri's suffering to HC, since it's not exactly usual for a character to get shat on so much. It's not happy at all; whether or not anyone likes how she was treated, her situation and how things ended for her are definitely anomalous within the series.
All charts are complete shit.
I was here when they made them. That was an earlier one.
The heart seed powers made zero sense, though they made for some cool scenes. I personally don't have an issue with them. The biggest issue with Heartcatch has to due with the nature of VotW itself.
It's more convenient to give someone a chart rather than keep posting what to watch. I personally don't think a chart is absolutely necessary until we have about 20 seasons though.
Yeah, but no one approved of the newer one. Well, fewer people than that one anyways.
>more convenient to give someone a chart rather than keep posting what to watch
No chart: people post recommendations
Yes chart: people post about the chart
I know I don't. The old one is less worse, even though it still praises the Yes 5 villains, which are terribly designed, bland, forgettable and extremely nonthreatening.
I haven't tried them but the Openings are always nice, the Fresh one in particular is better than the show one because it uses all new footage.
Never fails to crack me up.
that is not a face of mercy
Keine Mitlied für die Melodie
I want to ravage her.
The Cures are to be loved tenderly.
I want to do unspeakable things to Yayoi.
You mean really kinky stuff like cuddling with her?
Yes, like rubrub patpat pinchpinch pokepoke and cuddlecuddle
Tch, mods have no respect for the good things.
EVEN MOAR WANT
That shadow looks suspiciously lewd.
Is Kanade the prettiest cure next to Honoka?
Looks like HIbiki and an umbrella.
freaking artist had to make furry trash out of this awesome piece
Isn't that just Hummy sitting on Hibiki's head?
Mai and Karen are prettier than Honoka.
White Cures a best.
Mai is the prettiest Cure.
Mai is the most autistic Cure.
You misspelled Kanade/Honoka/Hibiki/Reika/Tsubomi.
Autism-moe is the best.
You misspelled Rikka.
G-gomen. I meant Rikka, not Reika.
>Talking shit about White
I never implied otherwise.
One of those things is not like the others.
The only beautiful cure is White. All others are the same, or worse.
It's the thought that counts.
I wish more of these adorable outfits were used in the show itself. I also hope HaCha as plenty of casual outfits.
I'll never get over this stupid picture. I probably will never look at Happy the same way again.
I wonder if they poop with more power when they're Henshin'd.
how fittingly retarded
I want to be that toilet.
>No toilet paper
Coffee Shop Rikka
Woah, that's some beautiful art.
Happy wiped her ass with Candy.
I problem, I would offer my tongue.
Why do people hate her makeup so much?
Grandmas shouldn't be Cures.
>talking shit about Cure Flower
I don't really hate it, but I never got what was up with the Love Kiss Rouge changing color depending on the Cure in focus that week. It didn't seem to do anything particularly different.
Oh dear god this is amazing:
So much time passed and she's still getting the best stuff.
They actually do different things. Like paralyzing them and stuff.
What can you say. Peace is sex.
The main issue with Precure is that it was always more or less planned by committee. KR and Sentai come from Ishinomori, a single artist with a very strong vision that carried through all the way to present day.
Precure simply doesn't have this kind of strong basis.
>Kamen Rider's real main recurring thing is that the villains and the heroes use the same powers.
Wouldn't mind that for Precure. It probably would be too complicated though.
Why do people hate on Y5 Villains? We got Bunbee and the evil company out of it - That's pretty creative for a precure season. We've never seen villains that weren't just an "evil corporation," but a literal "corporation of evil." It's also a pretty sharp Jab at Japan's corporate culture, when you consider the show's themes.
>KR and Sentai come from Ishinomori
Even then the Sentai concept was already familiar in previous manga and anime like Gatchaman. Kamen Rider was also strongly influenced by Toei's production, and it wasn't what Ishinomori originally intended it to be either. If anything, they maintain their staples because they are archetypal heroes and teams, not because of an auteur's vision.
Because they're terribly designed, bland, forgettable and extremely nonthreatening. Seriously, you have bug people, fatasses, a guy voiced by a woman and Dracula. And the woman boss is just fucking useless. She doesn't even fight the Cures.
Why do people like that faggot? All he does is being a jackass and complain. He gets better in GoGo, and by that I mean at least he's got some funny scenes, but in Yes5 he's as forgettable as the rest.
>"evil corporation," but a literal "corporation of evil."
So you mean they took the biggest cliche ever and made it stupider? Because it makes no sense, they don't even do anything in that company.
So TL;DR: It's really that Precure has yet to find its tone since Mahou Shoujo just sort of stopped being such a regular thing a long time ago and Precure simply needs to find its own tone from the ground up, ya?
I think that's true of the first seasons, but ever since Fresh it's been consistent with "A group of grils fight bad guys every week with the power of love and friendship". Sentai and KR change tone dramatically every year; I'd say Precure is even more consistent than those in tone and direction.
Phew. I give up. I just can't think straight right now and I don't disagree with you enough to bother (actually, I don't disagree at all it just isn't what I was trying to say).
Speaking of tone: How is Gaim now? Is it still so-so or do the wacky and the serious elements blend together better now?
It's getting real in the second arc. The first episodes don't really hit that Rider feel, but it's intentional to make the second half feel more intense. It had some 'banana on head retarded' moments, but it recovered.
Friend says the butcher is making his move, so who can tell?
Shit's getting real now. Urobuchi's going all out.
That's a troll chart you fool.
Maybe I should try again.
Are they doing a good job at revisiting Ryuki's idea of the Rider War as was implied in that interview?
What's coconut's (that's a coconut, right?) identity? I know Durian is that gay DJ.
It's a multilingual pun. It was "sonna banana?!" in moon.
He said "Sonna Banana!"
It's actually a good translation.
Remember, MANa loves you all.
>Why do people hate on Y5 Villains?
Uh, they evidently do not if they managed to praise them in the chart. The ones who complain are a minority and you rarely hear them here.
That's a subterranean amphitheater. What gruesome games took place among those very walls is anyone's guess.
Alternatively it's a tomb which is only slightly less creepy.
Well shit. HAZUKASHI.
>one fag makes a chart
>it is now the majority
The chart was iterated on several times and nobody took enough issue with Y5's villains being a plus to consider revising that aspect.
If the majority thought they were shit it would have been addressed.
I don't know if it is close to Ryuki now, but it's more of an evil corporation ploy than a battle royale.
Many people commented on that chart. Basically everything was changed multiple times, but never anything about yes!5 villain. I'm not even saying they are good or that the chart is good, but evidently most people doesn't think they are as bad as you make them to be.
He's not me, so we're already 2 people saying they sucked.
There's over 100 people on /pc/ going by how many voted on the polls. So yeah, a minority.
I count 4 people in this conversation, so no, it isn't.
Is this a reference to Futari Wa?
Toei confirmed for bros.
He didn't watch Fresh
>He didn't watch Fresh
What if we had a season of precure that got double the usual budget, with all the talented writers, animators, etc.
But the catch was that Kawano is directing
Would you watch it?
I'd watch it regardless anon, it's Precure
No, I don't watch precure.
He's became the animation director for a whole year? That's a lot of work.
I guess it'd be like Fresh in visual terms, so yeah, I'd watch it.
There are worse fates than Kawano in this life.
I hope the next OP will be alien Rikka
make it yourself then
I dont have the picture
