Greetings all, Fancutfag and Coconut here. We're hard at work on Madoka 02, so I wanted to announce our release plan.
Episode 02 is mostly ready, but there are still a few scenes that could use to be touched up, and it doesn't have subs yet. We want to release it tomorrow anyway, in order to make the original air date's three year anniversary. However, there's another alternative that would give us more time to finish it up, hopefully add subs, and perhaps even increase the nostalgia in the process: release it on Thursday. We're not sure which option to go with, so, we decided to ask our fellow /a/nons.
Releasing on the exact air dates is a great touch, but on the other hand, Madoka Thursdays were an incredibly memorable time for many on /a/. It would be a shame to waste either opportunity, but alas, we can't do both. So, which is more valuable: releasing on the exact historical date, or releasing on a Thursday? Or should we just not care at all? http://strawpoll.me/1011301
Other questions about our release plans are welcome.
Are you releasing a v2 of the first episode?
Yes, we've got a (very much) improved version of ep01 coming as well, probably at the same time as ep02.
I have absolutely no idea who you are or why I should care. Shit thread.
Hm, good point.
We are cutting together a release of Madoka Magica using video frames from the movie release, reorganized into the TV series format and pacing. Previous thread: http://archive.foolz.us/a/thread/99715792/
Will the slow version of Magia from the TV series be played in the first scene?
Yes. We're keeping as much TV audio as we can, since the movie versions tend to be very clipped.
Cool. I meant the actual original broadcast version which was a fitting mistake though, I'd think you would normally be using the BDs as your base.
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. We're using the BD versions only, nothing from the TV rips.
Also, we could use some help making the subtitle files, as well as help from people who know what they're doing with encoding. If you're willing to help out with either, please contact.
They are doing a fancut of madoka.
At first i thought the same but the dude is alright.
>original air date's three year anniversary.
Wow, doesn't feel that old. Anyway, good job on the first episode. looking forward to episode 2.
Keep up the good job, doing god's work here lads
Either way's fine with me. Keep up the good work.
Yes! Do want! Madoka Thursdays will rise again!
I guess when you still see frequent threads about a series it makes it feel like it hasn't been that long since it aired. I get the same sensation with stuff like Psycho Pass and Nichibros when an anon says "it's been x years." Pic related I suppose.
Anyways, good shit OP, looking forward to whatever you put out, whenever it comes out.
Just out of curiosity, are you using the UTW encode?
Just rewatching the first episode and I felt the need to pause here for some reason.
What exactly are the improvements for Ep. 1 ver. 2? I'm one of the anons that actually like the use of Luminous in the first episode (my preferred ordering of the openings would be Luminous ep1, Connect ep 2-10 Luminous ep11) so if you changed that I'd like to know so I can just keep version 1.
The first episode didn't but the v2 will.
Yes, we removed Luminous, as it was just too spoilery to keep. However, we will be releasing the Avisynth scripts used to create our cut along with the files themselves, so people can easily create their own customized versions.
Other changes include using the TV audio for the whole introduction (which is about 15 seconds longer), restoring the Homura-in-a-dream flashback in the classroom while using movie frames for everything else in the scene, and keeping Connect through Madoka's headphones as well as the neat CD selector from the movies.
Fancutfag and I had a disagreement about Anthony scene: he wanted to keep new movie BGM "Encounter", which he insists is better, and I wanted to keep the original BGM because I'm a TV purist. In the end we agreed to disagree, and we'll be including both versions in the same file, thanks to the magic of mkv edition tags.
>restoring the Homura-in-a-dream flashback in the classroom while using movie frames for everything else in the scene,
So that means the school will keep the movie-updated look of the school throughout the episode, yes? Definitely better than switching partway through. Although obviously you'll have to use the series version of the classroom for the scenes that weren't in the movie.
And since there's someone who actually likes Luminous instead of Connect, it's possible to have Luminous instead of Connect in the version with Encounter, which is more movie-y anyway.
Are your filesizes still gonna be bloated as hell?
Alright thanks guys. I really appreciate all the thought you're putting into this release.
We're no longer using VideoPad, so the restrictions it has are no longer a problem.
We're keeping as many movie frames as possible for the classroom scenes, but yeah, there are going to be some scenes that don't exist the movies that we'll have to use, so there's going to e some inconsistency there. The alternative is cutting out every movie classroom scene, which we decided wasn't worth it.
They should be about the same size as Meguca/UTW's. Also, to repeat what I said in >>100117866 we are now accepting help/advice about encoding...
