At episode 68 now. Will this keep up being good or are there any lows?
>Also Gintama great moments threads
It gets more consistently good.
>are there any lows
Occasionally. The Hard Boiled Detective thing springs to mind.
I always thought the earlier episodes were the weakest.
Please be true.
I already cant contain my laughs the point I will start crying from joy
I almost dropped it due to 30-50 for some reason.
You got through the hard part, it will all be smooth sailing from here on.
I skipped ahead because I though the start was too boring and I thought it only got good around the episode 200 mark.
Yeah it gets better.
I started rewatching Gintama again. The beginning was pretty unfunny unfortunately.
Are there any arcs you often rewatch? For me it's the Owee arc, never gets old.
It only gets better.
First episodes are medicore and later episodes are god like
Also: can I watch the movies or do they require having seen every episode?
Benizakura movie was made between seasons 4 and 5 so may as well watch it there.
Final Chapter movie can be watched after season 4 too I think, IIRC there's no new characters in it who weren't introduced by season 4.
The "Tosshi tries to conquer all otaku of all interests" arc was kind of boring for me.
and then there's Kurokono Tasuke
It had its moments, like TAKA-TIN
I think it drags a little in the first bit of season 4 where they get bogged down in anime-original episodes while giving the manga a chance to get further ahead.
Would you agree that half of what makes you laugh is the voice actors? probably one of the best cast in any show
Ryugujo arc took longer than it had any right to, but Monster Hunter, Stand onsen and Yoshiwara afterwards made up for it.
It's kind of classless that half the humor is various guys screaming NANDE DA NANDE, but it's a guilty pleasure.
I found the first 3-4 episodes interesting, but watching the others before 28-30 was really hard. But I continued, and it turned into some awesome random shit.
I personally thought it picked up at episode 25, the one where they fight over nabe.
Best OI OI OI show ever.
>various guys screaming NANDE DA NANDE
But that's just Shinpachi
Sometimes others pick up the tsukkomi stick when Shinpachi slacks off.
Tfw watched final chapter 5 times within a week and have managed to cry bitch tears everytime
If I had to choose, I would say my favorite arcs are the first and the second Yoshiwara arcs. I love the second one because of the black and white scenes - it's a bit like the manga I'm reading started living. And the first is simply awesome.
You're not hard boiled enough.
seriously one of the best moments in the whole show, and that's saying something
The entire anime has no filler so it's pretty much decent to good throughout. Like the others said, the hard boiled arc was a bit boring though.
What eps are those?
I love this movie so much, it had some flaws but it managed to deliever everything I love about Gintama. I'm still on the fence about importing the limited ed.
Gintama is one of my favorite series that I can never recommend to anyone because of the "you have to be this japanese to ride" power level to enjoy it.
I love how this show has some of the best comedy (Popularity Poll Arc, Monkey Hunter) and the best action (Yoshiwara, Kabuki Leaders).
I rarely have the main character as my favorite in an anime, but here Gintoki really suits to be my fav. The other one is Hijikata, I don't know why. Probably because I feel they're similar to the two sides of my own personality.
And I lol'd so hard when I read after watching about 200 episodes that the mangaka originally planned one character instead of those two, but later he separated the character to two people and made Toshi and Gin-san.
Sorry anon but www.yorozuyasoul.com/anime/episodes/filler
>tfw I actually cried a bit during that arc
>not having a patriot
What are you doing with your life?
I rewatched this episode yesterday. It's definitely one of the most hilarious.
Fuck it. Best moments thread? Best moments thread.
Definitely not hard boiled enough
Yoshiwara arc is still one of the best action arcs of any anime ever.
There are filler episodes but they don't feel like filler at all
My only complaint is that it's not enough episodes.
Yes, because there are no long arcs and the whole anime feels like random shit in every episode.
We'll get Gintama this year, r-righ? Or in 2015?
And I also love that it isn't only a random comedy anime, but it also has amazing battles.
You know that one joke some shows have that they keep reusing and that you eventually get sick of?
This isn't it, its funny every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VzWlmsqg0Y
That's not in the anime yet
This gets me to cry way more than any comedy should.
>that dog and old man episode
It was a bit lolable, though.
Anons, I've recently started watching this little gem here and the MC is basically a female Gintoki, up to the dead fish eyes and bored voice. She's a poor, laid-back samurai lady with sake weakness who travels from town to town and solves problems, usually with her sword skills. It's a short comedy (only 13 eps) with great animation, so give it a shot if you feel like watching something relaxing.
Also she has a Chinese sidekick.
I hated the star wars parodies or things revolving around the dog.
There's a few other low points here and there but Gintama stays really really good for the most part.
>Winter of 2014
>still not building your own Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon
I've watched 120 episodes and there's only been 5 or 6 good episodes
>Winter of 2014
>still not building your own Gintama statue
You don't show any respect for Gintoki.
Too fucking spicy for me.
>Winter of 2014
>Still not building your own Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon
Well, there's no snow here.
You've got a very bad case of the shit taste. Unfortunately, it's incurable.
>Not making artificial snow
nice try shit eater
>Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran
Sounds good, thanks for the rec
Guess I forgot about those episodes when reading the manga. Still, compared to say Bleach it's a lot better.
I think it would have been funnier if Gintoki had been mosaiced for the "others' perception" bits.
finally my persistence in hyping this has paid off
April this year IIRC
Thanks anon, been trying to figure out how to google image search on this phone. I'll download it too.
Keep up the good work, Ran is truly the greatest samurai and deserves to be more popular.
you should add thought that the show is not like Gintama, more like a Gintama with a Mushishi mood or smth.
Is stephanie that huge or are those shots just really off model?
she's huge, because she is a giant gaijin
So /a/, what is your opinion on strawberry milk?
it has calcium
I love it. It's hard to find one that doesn't taste of chemicals, though.
There is something about Gintama that no other anime has been able to pull off. It keeps me drawn to it. It's like it can do whatever it wants and it does it WELL.
I think the Ghost Ryokan arc is really underrated. I found it hilarious.
Best episode is still the toilet one though.
>Just watched that episode yesterday
Yeah, it makes you laugh, cry, and excited for awesome action all at the same time.
It just does everything.
I developed a love of strawberry milk after seeing this.
>Will this keep up being good or are there any lows?
After season 2 it gets really old and repetitive except for certain episodes.
Most of the time they don't know what to do and just put the same characters over and over in situations who hate each other where they have to do stuff together that makes them unfconfortable instead of coming out with a good plot.
They did this in the movie too, 75% of the movie including the ending was watching how the characters got along in the future
nabe shogun ep
I LOVE THE ANPAN EPISODE
The Tsusengumi arc was one of my favorite. It was a bit stretched but was golden over all.
The Hedoro arc is one of the funniest arcs.
Goddamnit /a/, I'm a 26epfag and I never dared to watch anything with more than 72 episodes, but now I've decided to break that rule for Gintama, you convinced me.
should I manga or anime?
Anime is far better. The voice actors do a magnificent job, especially Sugita.
Just go with the Anime. It doesn't really matter for me, found both hilarious, but the seiyuu really do a great job.
Let's all be madao
Did we ever have a thread without someone asking this question?
Honestly though the later times when anpan came up were almost as good on their own as the anpan episode itself.
But the hallway running part is one of the best moment in the whole series.
I just randomly ran into a scene from the manga in which Gin was in a cinema with a bunch of guys and then he fucks up with some dolls of his and ends up grabbing and then sucking a guy's dick and eating Tae's head.
Why do I have the feeling that I'll never be able to laugh again after finishing Gintama?
You'll be left with a terrible realisation that you will never sprout.
Anon, I sprouted long ago
Gintama was the first series to consistently make me laugh since the non-shit first couple of seasons of Keroro.
Can a kind anon post gifs from Be Forever Yorozuya?
Can I make strawberry milk by blending strawberries with milk?
Only gets better. Enjoy the ride.
I want to watch Gintama
Currently on the cat arc.
I wish there were more Katsura and Shinsengumi team up arcs over random shit like this. It's fucking hilarious.
gets shit after ~150-180..ish
>ever relevant again
He'll be a gag egghead forevermore
Every single thread I see, I want to watch the whole thing again.
Okay, you can feel proud, you made me download it, probably watch it too.
Why is Studio 5 so awesome?
The spa mini arc was my favorite part of Gintama.
>that fucking Xavier with his rifle
>that fucking Jojo parody with the stands
>that fucking best ghost girl who wants Gin's dick by the end
I tear up at the end of every arc with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmo6SsHDN8U
I mean, it really is just rehashing the same toilet humor, but it keeps up the mindless fun.
Oh god why won't these tears stop?
I was just about to mention this. The Stand arc in the spa had me laughing to tears in several occasions.
>tfw you will never become his excellence
katsura's stories are the best. especially the loyal daughter in law one.
why is sugita so perfect
Dat song name wut
>yoshiwara in flames arc
They said it was in flames but there wasn't actually any fire until the big spider arc was there?
