He looks amazing, sounds GAR, and fights like there's no tomorrow, but I can't get enthusiastic about him.
He might be manly/badass but there's something missing from him for me to call him GAR.
The whole episode was framed sort of like a video game, with Sabrac being the boss and Wilhelmina being the repeat player trying to explain his fighting patterns. The way she talked about him, he wasn't any different from an NPC.
So what's his weakness?
I hate boss fights where you have to sit around for an hour trying to find the guys fucking weakness
flatchested redheads with swords
Someone said earlier it's that his power isn't unlimited. He uses up most of his strength in his initial attack, then uses everything else he's got to protect himself. He'll run out of power if occupied too long in a battle, which is why he's afraid of getting flanked by multiple Flame Hazes.
He's not really fighting for anything, It's more than just hax powers and a badass outfit to be GAR nowadays.

I got Touhou vibes from it. Sabrac's flames are the same color as the cherry blossom and most of his sword spams looked like danmaku.
translation? Anything about Sairei no Hebi Sakai Yuuji?
At first he appears fucking HAX, and his design is a little simple to think anything amazing from him. I like his cold-bloodiness though.
I prefer hot-bloodedness myself, nothing quite as satisfying as crossing your arms under the shadow of a colossus with the promise you're going to fuck up it's shit.

is there a vector of this or atleast a higher resolution to this so i can vector it myself?
> repeat player
Wilhelmina sounded like some kind of kiter waiting for everyone to show up and start applying DPS. Seemed to me she was getting annoyed that they were taking too long to re-enter combat.
Margery's wounds may have been serious, but Shana's looked minor.
Entertaining as it is, it feels very much a fight designed to be placed in whatever videogame they make of Shana II.
I liked Sabrac. He kicked ass, moreso than any other person in Shana.
But his HAX cannot be denied. His power level basically exploded all over the place.
Too powerful. There is no GAR without glory and awesome, and it's hard to get those without surpassing your limitations.
1. execute overly elaborate plan
3. hunt down stragglers
Shana just just go flame of heaven on his ass
Excellent description of Sabrac's method.
Awesome strategy. Decent character to execute it.
Screw honest fighting. He's an assassin.
He's basically a rogue that backstabs with a nuclear bomb.
Sabrac seems like a guy who just likes to chill, even when he's busy fucking people's shit up. A really nice guy. Nothing personal, it's just that he's been hired to kill you.
The fact that he is to all appearances so far nigh-invulnerable and capable of regenerating from a piece of his cloak only encourages that laid back attitude.
Can't wait until next episode.
Hopefully Yuji gets some hot GAR fighting scene.
fighting against *who*? This time he's up against someone who can actually fight *back*.
Chances are slim. Maybe he'll stumble upon some sort of mystical artifact Sabby hid in the sewers and/or use his newfound analytical powers to figure out his weakness, but other than that he'll just hang out with his loli.
He has his own loli? damn, this guy has everything
Sorry, that was probably uncalled for.
Yuuji joins the dark side.
Sakai Yuji will be the one who beats his ass down after the 3 Flame Hazes lose.
Yuuji's the most dangerous opponent Sabrac has to face because he's basically a Crimson King with the same kind of non-detection ability. Not to mention Yuuji is a brilliant strategist. He already figured out Sabrac's weakness in that brief fighting interval, I still haven't figured it out.
Something about this episode that bugged me is how stupid Wilhelmina is. Why the fuck did she protect Yuuji? Surely she knows he's wearing the Azure Ring that makes him invincible against magic, and as a Mystes he's inherently immune to physical attacks. Sabrac has to extract the Reiji Maigo to kill him or drain his power somehow.
The nuke wasn't going to cut it.
Do want to love tenderly.
They were swords, not flames, so he wouldn't have been safe
ring only protects against Fire magic, i think.
He's immune to physical attacks. He hasn't bled at all during the whole series and got chopped up in the first episode if you might recall. The only thing he has to worry about is getting the Reiji Maigo stolen, which won't happen for three reasons:
1. The Keeper prevents most Tomogara from stealing it.
2. The Flame Haze and Yuuji himself are pretty good and preventing it from getting stolen.
3. Sairei no Hebi is now awake, and rather than let the Reiji Maigo get stolen and lose his host he'll take over and fuck shit up.
Almost all magic in the Shanaverse is fire-based, there's only a handful of Unrestricted Method's we've seen so far that aren't. Stigma happens to be one of them but YUUJI DOES NOT BLEED OR GET WOUNDS.
THEY DON'T KNOW YUJI IS GOD HEIBI
From the novel Anti-Flame Ring Azure grants protection against all types of flames and explosions, including the ones of Flame Hazes.
So anything fire based or lined with the concept for fire is useless.
Yuji is an experienced kid. What fighting skills he *does* have are useless against someone as ridiculous as Sabrac.
Yuji has a flame ring, but that doesn't make him immune to *all* spells, and that spell was a particularly wicked one. He would still have been toast without protection.
>and as a Mystes he's inherently immune to physical attacks
Hell no. Mystes don't get that kind of protection. Yuji got lucky once during training with a physical reenforcement, but that's it.
If he's so invulnerable, why is he always screaming in terror when someone attacks him.
because it's funny?
It was mentioned that Sabrac's magic contains swords, so I doubt the ring would have protected him, since its not flame or explosion.
GRAZE FOR MORE POINTS SAK--- WILHELMINA
He hasn't lost his humanity. I can bet he won't be running scared once he turns into a Tomogara.
Sabrac does indeed have enough swords.
See? FUCKING TOHOU!
So Touhou is indirectly canon /a/ material now?
WHAT HAS SABRAC DONE?
I originally didn't think Wilhelmina was so powerful, I thought she was the kind and tender loving meido.
Unlimited Sabrac Works
That's a pleasantly Masochistic edge to his brutatlity.
We thought that about Kohaku too.
Wasn't Yuji's ring meant to be 'fairly common'?
HOLD SHIFT TO FOCUS!!
You know, Wilhelmina would be fucking awesome for bondage fun with Shana.
No no, it's a one of a kind, very valuable and very amazing Noble Phantasm. Friagne was a killer of Flame Haze like Sabrac even though he was a weakling among Kings, but he had tons of treasure but only a handful of really good ones, and that was one of them.
If we were talking about rarity in TYPE-MOON sense, Azure Ring would be A++ and Reiji Maigo EX.
Blutsauger isn't as rare or valuable (maybe like B or B+ tops) but combined with the other two treasures and Yuuji's abilities, it's incredibly dangerous.
Something like that would be close to an S ranked treasure.
Especially for use against Flame Hazes
So, basically, Sabrac is weak against damage? Meh, that sucks. I was expecting something a lot less obvious.
Blutsauger is just a really big sword right? To be honest the design for it looks uncomfortable as hell.
Season 3 will be good.
I think it absorbs power of existence or something
"He is armed with a sword called "Blutsauger" (German for "blood drinker"), which is capable of damaging anything that it touches if a user channels power of existence into it."
When yuji kills shana? Yes, it will be.
It's big and heavier than it looks, so it's pretty powerful. But the special ability is if you charge it with power of existence and hit something indirectly (like if it's blocked), the attack will go through as if it wasn't blocked at all.
The incest twins used the sword against Shana and almost killed her; they're weak Tomogara without much power of existence. The size of the damage slash inflicted by the special ability is dependent on how much power you put into it.
So imagine what happens if Yuuji, with the Reiji Maigo (unlimited power) uses that sword. He could split anything, cities, mountains, even continents.
Ah. Infinite power + Blutsauger = goodbye to any defense.
Ah, I see. It's been a while since I watched season 1, I forgot about that completely.
THIS IS A LIE
I thought he just had a very large amount that recharged daily
Sounds like he's gonna kick reason to the curb and use a galaxy-sized weapon to ensure humanity's continuing evolution.
Yuuji's basically a monster by the time the Sabrac fight ends, three powerful hougu that synergize well together, his own personal nature/intelligence/cunning and training, plus his Mystes status makes him on par with an average Guze King.
This is all before Snake of the Festival merges with him.
Nope, because of Hecate raping him he is basicially stuck in an infinate loop of power generation.
Reiji Maigo is like a gas burner, the flame stays constant unless you turn up the gas. The gas was turned up once earlier in the show during the Hecate thing (in the novel it was when Sydonay tried to steal the Reiji Maigo and the Keeper interfered) and the other time is after the merger.
Yuuji just doesn't know how to do it, but Sairei does.
Who is Sairai again?
since we're in a Q&A session, what's a unrestricted spell? along with all the other crop terminology they decided to throw in instead of just calling it magic and mana
It's just a spell for all intents and purposes. Put in generic terms, Shana would be a straight up fighter, Margery a mage...Wilhelmina...a...something. And Yuji would be a bard/rogue on steroids.
Do Yuuji and the Snake of the Festival truly become one or is there a fake blending?
Its tok'ra as opposed to goa'uld.
It's a relationship similar to Yami Yugi/Normal Yugi. Yami Yugi is stuck in the Millennium Puzzle but he can astral project through Yugi's body. The two share memories and thoughts/ideas as if they were the same person but otherwise fluctuate in between personalities at times.
Yami didn't even know he wasn't Yugi until late in the show, Sairei and Yuuji are an advanced form of that.
nah, feels more like all flame haze are all purpose solders with one or two special abilities
Margery is definitely not that strong in physical combat. It's been hinted Sydonay, while a powerful Crimson King, is the weakest of the group in terms of power because he has no Unrestricted Methods. He's just a shapeshifter, and can transform into chimeras that are stronger than Margery's werewolf. Typically physically weak Flame Haze are the ones who shift form, and Margery makes up with her weakness by having a fuckton of Unrestricted Spells and being able to make them up on spot.
Shana is very much a straight fighter, she doesn't have many if any spells except Fuzetsu. Wilhelmina's some weird mix between fighter and spellcaster.
What would Shana's normal powers be, if she didn't have her special sword?
It is quite annoying how much I like this story but how much I dislike Shana. Hell...
We've already entertained the notion that Yuuji is like a lesser version of Shirou when it comes to being clueless, as well as eventually becoming a badass. Similarly, Shana shares many traits with Saber.
Plus there's a lot of "SHANAAAA!!" in the show. Just like there's a lot of "SEEIIIBAAAA!!" in F/SN.
