New episode of dubbed Space Dandy in about an hour, people.
Non burger here. How do I watch?
Well you need a Toonami stream.
I actually think we should really discuss this on /co/, they got the toonami streams and the toonami general.
We can talk about Space Dandy afterwards here if it turns out to be so groundbreaking that you can't wait until the japanese airing.
I am get hype.
As painfully post-Gurren Lagann as it is at times, it's incredibly entertaining. And I remember being lukewarm towards Samurai Champloo when it started too, and we all know how that turned out as the series continued.
yeah me too.
still not sure how we should handle this early american airing boardwise.
Anyways, this stream should show it. I will delete it in a few minutes because some fags here might want to report it
>painfully post-Gurren Lagann as it is at times
What does that mean?
Will wait for subs as usual. He sounds more groovier in a way.
>tfw the dub is actually betterer
Watch dub as it's airing ==> Watch downloaded HD dub ==> Watch HorribleSubs ==> Watch Commie subs ==> Watch Commie's subs with dub audio
Making everything really over the top all the time for no particular reason, basically. It's not TTGL was the first show to do this (Gunbuster 2, for example, was way hammier, and that came out first), but I feel like a lot of anime that came out afterwards use that trope a lot.
Mind you, this really isn't a complaint. Also, we're only one episode in (soon to be two).
>for no particular reason
I watched ep 1 almost twice in a row doing this, so... yeah.
I haven't looked forward to the weekly airing of anything this much since the Aoi Hana anime. It's been a while.
>gohands makes space dandy
This show is dandy
/co/ >>>>>>> /a/
>fake instant ramen
does...does this mean Space Dandy shares the same universe as Cowboy Bebop
>>The currency is Woolongs
Are they just gonna gloss over the whole "everybody died" thing?
> Gogol Galaxy Street View
anyone elsen otice this is like a space anime johnny bravo if johnny bravo was an anime captain kirk bounty hunter?
I'd imagine yes but either really really far future, or else really really far out in the galaxy.
>mfw Goggle Galaxy Street View
Do I look bovverid?
Scarlet is the best girl.
>ship not named the Gogol Chrome
missed opportunity, guys.
>full metal noodlist
I hope they end this one the same way
Am I an asshole for thinking this episode's too Japanese?
I just got back from work and 2poor4tivo. are there any sites where i can get a stream or download?
Next Episode looks lewd as fuck
Torrent for the dub should be up in a while in tt.
You're joking, right? Try checking your usuals.
Killing his waifu in a funny way.
More fanservice in the next episode.
Dandy back to being a boob man.
Alien bosozoku episode when
There could be bike races.
well, we already know that Dr. Gel goes to the same barber as Jet.
Watanabe finally delivered.
>implying I have usuals
This shit is entry level as fuck and I know it. Really the only anime I watch is stuff on Toonami. I just went to /a/catalog and ctrl+f dandy for the thread
And you still expect to be spoonfeed?
Damn, I ain't gonna lie.
That second episode delivered.
The go-to "usual" site is the second hit on Google for the terms I used. Please fucking feed yourself if you're going to come here and post. Seriously, no one should be this helpless.
Can we all agree Meow is bro of the season?
>You were born too soon to travel the galaxy staring at boobs with your cool ass cat friend.
>entry level as fuck
OFFICIAL LIST OF REQUIRED VIEWING MATERIAL TO APPRECIATE SPACE DANDY
Cowboy Bebop + All other Watanabe works
Lupin (Original TV versions + Mine Fujiko)
Space Runaway Ideon
Star Wars (Original trilogy only)
That was fun. And guess what? Fun things are fun.
I almost shit myself with joy when I heard this. I hope so.
Given the nature of Space Dandy, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some interdimensional rift bullshit that caused the Dandy and Bebop crews to meet.
If that happens, I can die peacefully.
I liked it.
Episode 2 was actually way more sakuga than 1. Who woulda thunk?
Much better than episode 1, but the quality will probably be sporadic since it doesn't look like it has any continuation at all unlike Bebop and Champloo.
Hot diggity that was fun
his waifu ;_;7
meow's perfect ramen ;____;7
for all the laughs there where tears too
Jesus Christ his 'incident'
That may be the hardest I've ever laughed at an anime
Tears of laughter suddenly became tears of sadness.
Agreed, I did feel for him
His centuries of loneliness ;_;
That scene made my dick rock hard
DID THEY SKIP THE OP AND ED AGAIN?
yup, doesn't look like we're getting it on NA release, guess i'll hold out for commie dual audio
not enough time due to commercials
>space dandy crew meeting the bebop crew
>dandy hitting on Faye
>Ed and meow combining their cute
>Ed playing with Meow
I would probably die
why so mad
its on youtube
>everyone meets bebop crew
>they don't meet spike
because spike is dead
it's a licensing issue, not the commercials. The current OP and ED are almost the same time, and in the past they have cut commercials on the opening slot for full OP and ED
God damn this show is beautiful animated and handled.
>it's a licensing issue
3,000-years-later successor of Spiegel-style school of jeet kune do.
Funimation doesn't have the rights to the OP and ED apparently.
Stupid Japanese music rights. The OP and ED are great, best songs of the season. LONG LIVE MAH TEARS
>Ed teaches Meow how to take selfies for Spacebook holding the camera with only feet
Why are they so lazy
I NEED THAT OP
How are Commie's subs for Dandy?
commie/10. But they have dual audio, so you can switch between languages to compare how things get translated.
The best. But you should already know the answer to this question, because you aren't a newfag crossboarder. Commie is shit most of the time, but they decided to not make trollsubs on this show like they usually do..
Is there a gif of Dandy of Dandy dancing as he tries to hit on Scarlet?
so was dandy
I was under the impression that they went FULL Commie for this show and that was kinda the point. Wanted to know if it was funny at least or just >commie
Let's be honest here, Dandy is much funnier with a bit more liberal translation.
Anyone mind reminding me how to >imply mid sentence after moot broke it a few months ago?
So ep2 is here, and even though I thought that this show is simulcast webcasted in subs, this is just the dub right? Does anyone know?
Well fuck it, I'll download it anyway and find out.
Isn't it still done >the same way?
The dub shows first, before the sub, doesn't it?
Well, there's nothing wrong with the dub.
Did you even watch the subs? If anything the dub is what one would expect from translating the script "full commie" style, with memes and weird references and wording thrown in.
It's not simulcast, we get it early.
Guess not. >Maybe?
Fucking crossboarder newfags.
First of all, use CBM for this http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=511197
Secondly, Space Dandy airs in English on Toonami a day before it airs in Japanese. The "simulcast" subs on Crunchyroll always come after it airs in Japan, so there's a delay.
Besides, you might want to wait for Commie's release, for both the sub and dub. CR/HS is bitrate starved and hardsubbed with bad font/typesetting and translations.
Someone the other day was posting pics saying Commie's encode was even worse than HS.
Yes, but I expect that from a dub. The added convenience of being in my native language makes it ok as well.
Plus I watched Horrible --> dub and I found the dub much funnier, even if it was much, much more liberal. Just wanted to ask /a/ if Commie was a decent compromise between the two without getting too cringeworthy because, at the end of the day, >dubs.
Why the fuck do you need >three
In the 3000 years post-Bebop they found the cure for death.
How did you feel about the animation in this episode?
It's really pretty good. Is it just Funimation or have all the companies that do English dubs stepped up their game recently or something?
This show is so bad it's not even funny anymore, and to think i've tried this expecting good animation..
what's his name again?
It was great, better than 1.
Since you're probably not the only one:
Yasuyuki Okamura: Viva Namida
Note that this is the regular edition that came out in 2013; there's going to be an anime tie-in rerelease at the end of the month with a couple new songs I think.
Now back to waiting for the ED release.
It was distracting outside of the situations that animation is expected, like Dandy dancing over to Scarlet or the fight scene. Regardless of its appropriateness, the actual animation was good.
Made me hungry for ramen.
Do people really seriously unironically enjoy this?
I have yet to watch subbed but the dubbed version was atrocious. The "humour" was appropriate for 10-14 year olds at most.
The only good parts were the animation and the setting.
Will watch this ep to see if it improves though.
How was it distracting?
And animation is expected in all of the shots. If they have the resources, they shouldn't be cheap on purpose.
So just like Kill La Kill?
Dubs on average have been not-terrible for the better part of a decade now.
Overall stronger than episode 1, but the ending was no Waltz for Venus or Speak Like a Child, that's for sure.
Except that has shit animation and setting too.
Sounds like anime to me
OH FUCK, I MISSED IT
I have comcast/xfinity, can I watch it through them somehow or do I have to DL a recording?
Meow was even cuter than in episode 1. Who agrees?
I loved Dandy laughing his ass off at Meow not being able to taste ramen tears.
How did episode 2 compare to episode 1 in your opinion? Did you enjoy it overall?
Stronger beginning, weaker ending.
I love KLK and I've loved shows with far less animation (they still had good storyboarding and generally made good use of visuals, though - I'm not a loser who judges cartoons as if they were books) and I thought this episode looked pretty fantastic.
It was more consistently visually and atmospherically interesting, which was a definite plus. The first half of episode 1 felt far more "normal anime" while this was overall high tier.
Episode 1's action at the end was still fantastic though.
Really? I thought the ramen stand stuff was really nice. Pretty chill and downplayed but appealingly so.
People who get "distracted" by good animation are far, far too deep into the rabbit hole
Kyoani has a lot of animation and motion in something like KnK, and it isn't distracting then.
I'll just wait for the subbed one myself.
Oh christ that would be great.
Anyone know when the Sub shows up on Hulu?
You want a link to tonights episode?
two are you too retarded to look in this thread?
You should already know where to go to download it because you aren't a crossboarder and/or newfag.
>+ Mine Fujiko
But Space Dandy is fun and Fujiko was self-absorbed incompetently-written shit
It's one of those things that I like to imagine is a troll but is probably serious in half or more of the cases where it gets posted.
Don't really have much to say about the animation in this episode beyond, 'this is what ep 1 should have been like overall'.
+ Mine Fujiko
spoonfeeding? no just asking a question is all
Link to tonights episode
My question was if I can watch it through comcast somehow, not where I could download it.
I had so high hopes for this series, but it keeps getting worse and worse with every new episode.
No one cares about you and your shitty service.
It's just a fucking reference you autists.
>using autist as an inslut on /a/
>still making direct Bebop comparisons
What were your favorite parts of the episode?
Ramen chef flashback.
when he flamethrower-ed his wiafu 10/10, best bancho
Episode airs tomorrow in Japan. Sadly last week was just a leak.
The whole part with the ramen guy. It had no reason to be deep or intriguing, but it was strangely touching, the thought of sitting there in that little hut for 10,000 years, the secret ingredient being his tears etc.
lot of good parts, Gogol street view, meow obsessd with twitter flaming waifu and scarlets action scene were all fantastic.
im sad we didn't get much QT comedy this episode but it was still better than episode 1
Just goes to show you how long it's been since I've had a reason to watch one.
Here is a quick comparison of space dandy 01
taken around 10:13 the running scene of HS/CR CBM Commie. The raw looks exactly like HS.Apologies on filesize
It airs today.
The leak wasn't subbed, though.
Don't expect it to be Bebop. That's unrealistic and you'll just be setting yourself up for a disappointment. That show was lightning in a bottle, like Utena was for Ikuhara - more than the sum of its parts, and reacing a level of success that it's probably impossible to duplicate. (Even Samurai Champloo, which is a very good show, didn't have that same magic.) Just try to enjoy it on its own merits. Fortunately, it has enough of those to go on for at least the planned 13 episodes.
i fucking love the animation in this show
>dandy dancing up to scarlet
>scarlet kicking ass
>dandy running on the ramen counter
>meow outside the spaceship
>dandy laughing at the end
I think this was everyone's favorite part.
GODDAMN I WANT MY GALACTIC STREET RACING CONTEST EPISODE, ARE YOU LISTENING BONES GUYS?
It's 2 cour.
Just wait for that Bones ending
I need to start making a mosaic of Dandy's awesome facial expressions in every episode.
Bones endings come from having to make up some anime-original crap. Space Dandy in of itself is original however so there is nothing to really set us off on a rage for "getting wrong", because there's nothing to fuck up.
The show really doesn't seem that serious anyway, I don't know how/why the ending will matter all that much.
Me, and I was expecting him to be super annoying just based on his design, too. Best ottercat furendo. I'll even forgive him for wearing Crocs.
Now that he's a loser otaku I just feel sorry for him.
I would love a "Meow's SUPER HARDBOILED past" episode a la Jupiter Jazz. That would be pretty funny.
No mention of the dakimakura yet?
Meow confirmed for Space NEET.
shit I meant Black Dog Serenade. Space Cat Serenade (Baby).
Oh fuck, the quality during the fight scene was bad.
>MFW Space Dandy is something new.
For some reason I thought this was some 80s classical that they revived. Holy shit. Was just about to say "I hope I can enjoy this as much as those who watched the original(s)" then thought I'd check how many anime it had in the past and visited Wikipedia.
I guess they really got their 80s feel right. Although I was born in the 90s.
Imagine a dude going to Hooters, eating alone and taking pics of the waitresses. He's that guy, only in weasel-cat form. It's no surprise he's a loser.
I just wonder if he will keep vaguely remembering rare aliens to help Dandy find shit, or if he will actually have some actual use besides that.
Missed the first few minutes. Did some kind of miracle happen that made them show the full OP?
Who knows, lucky guess maybe?
the facial expressions make this show, you can notice every little movement to show the characters expressions.
It's never gonna happen. RAJ rights are fuckexpensive.
Are the [denpa] releases good or should I wait for HS?
I never had a problem with denpa but I watch dubbed
It's the dub, worked fine for me.
So...she's obviously going to join the crew right?
Oh so the dub is actually good for this show and comes out even sooner than the Japanese version?
I'll re-watch the first ep dubbed to try out.
When are the subs supposed to be out?
Space Dandy is the epitome of a Saturday night show for me.
>"am i...am i cool now /a/?"
Raw tonight, subs tomorrow.
The dub is good and the subs are about
the same in my opinion I chose subs due to video
quality but I think the dubs are worth watching.
>But you were just going on about how butts were the superior feature.
>Oh, really? I don't remember that.
>No, of course you don't.
QT's VA is OK.
It's so-so, fairly similar to the sub actually. I just really don't like QT's english voice because warbly autotune, but he/it hardly talked in this episode anyway. This was more of a Meow-centric ep.
As long as I like the show enough, I'll just watch the dub and then the sub later when it's out, since the different voices/line deliveries make for a different experience/interpretation watching it. For now this doesn't matter much, but if I recall correctly, one of the nips who worked on the show said he was annoyed that the dub changed some important plot-related lines later on, so it'll take more willpower to hold out the extra time for subs later on especially if shit gets real and spoilers will be floating around for a day before.
It's only distracting when you have to read subs. Like KLK episode 1 had a lot of background stuff happening and as a result I had to rematch it a few times to catch everything because subs.
With the dub though, you can really appreciate the great fucking animation when you can just innately understand with your ears instead of reading.
I really like that vocoder effect they use for her too. Wish they had that in the Japanese track.
Next episode features a trap! How will the casual audience react to this shocking news?!
captcha: large inconfi
You know Kenji Hachizaki & Hiroyuki Aoyama at TMS did their part you know, Dones did not do this alone.
In fact, Aoyama's unit did Episode 2 of Dandy, just to let you know.
In terms of video, there is no definitive release of Space Dandy.
CBM/denpa/NTb releases are captured from CN, which is a universally terrible channel quality-wise (most cable providers seem to broadcast it at 9mbps).
CBM re-encodes HDPVR caps of CN (i.e. MPEG-2->HDMI/component->H.264->H.264) without even cropping. Not sure why people even bother downloading them.
denpa caps from Comcast, who sharpen the video before re-encoding it to MPEG-2, resulting in a fuckload of mosquito noise in static shots and awful-looking chroma.
Commie uses Tokyo MX, so you get typical Japanese HDTV quality (better than CN but still macroblocking galore) and darkening.
HS is typical Funi shit with ugly hardsubs, fucked up levels/colors, and banding.
Are you just basing that off its voice?
Don't tease me like that. I wouldn't have minded a trap at all.
Nah. She has a real job, doesn't she? Plus she is too competent to want to put up with their nonsense on a regular basis. But they'll probably have amusing run-ins from time to time.
I would love several more episodes of Dandy trying to lay the smooth on her and Scarlet just utterly failing to notice because she's in the middle of busting mooks' heads or something. And Dandy fails to get out of the way and takes repeated barstools to the face only to get back up every time like "hey girl, how YOU doin'"
That fucking dub
Dub of the year hands down and we're only in the second fucking week.
Cat a best
The voice is pretty feminine in both versions, I think it's a safe assumption.
Then again, Space robots don't even have sexes as far as we know.
>She has a real job, doesn't she?
Dandy is obviously at the center of something really important. Whatever her job is (space detective, space secret agent, space bounty hunter), it's going to force her to stick with the crew.
So its just all shit and we will have to wait for bd's?
Anyways on a related note I like the episode, but distaste for episodic series is definitely going to hamper my enjoyment of it, which honestly makes me sad.
I found this on r/spacedandy which is actually a real thing.
We know what her job is, she works for the Alien Identification Bureau.
Granted, any excuse to have her appear a lot would be fine by me.
This, it's really well done
Are you sure you didn't steal that right out of the Louvre?
Could be a genuine 12 year-old?
Wash your eyes and move on.
There's no way Bones could do this alone. They have so much shit coming out this year, I'm surprised they can allocate all their resources accordingly without going broke.
Seriously, don't they have 5 projects plus an unannounced one?
Why does his character design looks SO FAMILIAR? It's a direct takeoff on something, right? I can't seem to quite remember where I've seen it, though.
Have you seen a jalapeño before anon?
Space Dandy is a creative retelling of the search engine wars in the 21st century.
Space is the Internet. Dandy is a new search engine being hunted by Google before he can index new content (aliens) with his bot. His technique is flawed though since he keeps getting distracted by porn (T&A) and cat pictures (cat).
+ mojo jojo as boss
I love you.
I want to smoke what you smoked.
This is great
>Those last few minutes with the Ramen Chef
This was a great episode by the way
Oh god damn it, this guy fucking figured it all out didn't he.
What the fuck is the Jaicro empire then? Guess it's just some random imagined future competitor.
Pretty much. If you want a ranking:
Commie ≥ HS > NTb > denpa ≥ CBM
I edit/QC/dubsplice Space Dandy for Commie, so I might be a bit biased.
Anyone else love the part where Pops killed his love? I was expecting it to go a cliche route
Weed has been legal here for two weeks so ...
True, the only other show I know that Bones is doing is Sole Eater NOT! I'm not that into Bones that much, only got draged in because of The Daughter Of 20 Faces.
I'm just glade that TMS is doing something besides Aikatsu (they outsource for Ghibli all the time and Toshihiko Masada & Kazuhide Tomonaga worked on Lupin Vs Conan the Movie as Key Animators).
So what do you prefer /a/, the wacky and fun pacing or the opposite?
That's AutoTune(tm) bro
I don't mind the opposite, they were my favorite parts of Cowboy Bebop, but so far the Space Dandy hasn't any good, sad sounding music that really seals the deal.
I enjoy that they've disabled downvotes, and it's still been downvoted twice.
I think the ending did a good job at portraying those kind of things though, you can tell a lot of love and care is going into this show
Well for starters his head is an eggplant. Just reverse the color of his face and hair.
Just finished ep 2, it wasnt bad.
>that Bones logo in the ramen dimension
Newbie here, what's Bones?
I can't wait to get the episode on my hard drive, the cat had the best reaction faces
No one spoon feed this retard
Never mind I'm a fucking idiot
this is bones
They have Hitsugi no Chaika in spring along with Captain Earth, and Soul Eater NOT!'s season has not been announced other than this year.
Currently airing this season is Space Dandy which gets a lot of shitposts, and Noragami, which /a/ seems to unanimously like, and agree had one of the few good first episodes this season. That already puts Bones at 5 projects.
Then they have one more unannounced project I believe. So that's 6. They're fucking stretched thin this year.
Hope this helps.
Don't bother with him.
Fuck off back there.
I'm glad this show will have its slow parts, I really enjoyed that last segment
A fundamental part of the human body.
I'm not liking the dub, but I can't tell whether it's because I genuinely find it worse, or just huge weeaboo.
Maybe it's that my limited exposure of Japanese helps it not remind me of the parts of humanity that I hate.
The voices are a bit different; they both have their pros and cons. Meow is very similar in both languages, but nip Dandy has a deeper, less dudebro-sounding voice and QT isn't all warbly autotuned.
I think the big difference there is the aforementioned dudebro voice; English dandy talks with slang that we immediately understand, while nip dandy does not. In fact nip dandy doesn't use much slang as far as I can tell, he's got a somewhat different persona there, slightly more serious. The sub is a bit less comedic overall actually, there isn't much 4th walling etc.
Has anyone made a wallpaper that matches Meow's for a phone or whatever?
Nah, I've heard a few people now say that Dandy's voice is a little off-putting. I know he's trying to do an Elvis impression and his robot is autotuned but I think it works. The side characters could have used some work though. I get the feeling that there aren't enough professional VAs that speak English.
I was happy with Meow's voice in this episode.
In episode 1 I thought some of his line delivery was a little off.
"Jeez, it's a common name~."
The old ramen chef was surprisingly spot-on though, I didn't see that coming.
Scarlet's voice however sounded like any typical lady, just kind of stern, not all that emotional. Better that way than to be overacting though I suppose, I'd rather her be tolerable than an obvious mess.
So will she be a reoccurring character or possible love interest?
So I see we all use reddit.
r/spacedandy is probably filled with 4chan neets
>Meow has a body pillow
So he's /a/
I want to protect those whiskers
Seriously, the animation on the cat is absurdly well done for a TV anime
Of course. Reddit loves 4chan and 4chan loves Reddit.
I don't love reddit one bit. Its format encourages attention whoring / agreeing to hivemind opinions for votes rather than true free speech, not to mention it can be atrocious to read conversations on there. It's popular in the same vein as to why Facebook got popular, it's just what everyone uses and people are too lazy to move somewhere else where they aren't sure if anyone else they like is.
I like her, thats for sure.
Probably. She appears in the OP and was in ep2, at minimum she'll always just be that girl at Dandy's favorite Boobies. It could be that whatever makes Dandy important also somehow involve Boobies, because you know, that place basically defines his life and it would fit with the show being silly and ridiculous show, so he might have to save her at some point.
Even then though,
>possible love interest
Dandy strikes me as much closer to Johnny Bravo than Han Solo in this particular aspect. Maybe he'll get with her at the end in the epilogue or something, but that's being optimistic.
>Y-You wanna be my dakimakura? O-Okay, Anon.
I think it's more of a better animation when it matters thing
What step are we at right now?
Step 1: Its only a pv, its not indicative of the series! Its probably not even final animation. Wait for full episode!
Step 2: Judging the show with one episode? What kind of faggots are you! 3 episode rule exists for reason!
Step3: Dont judge the show based on 3 random episodes. At least wait till the episodes animated/directed by X/Y will air!
Step4: Judging the show that did not finish yet? Are you retarded!
Step 5: Fuck you! I believe.. i might have enjoyed it.. somehow. You all just have shit taste! It was not trying to appeal to fags like you anyway!
Step 6: Never mention it again.
BD sales dont matter, its funded by Murricans anyway!
I don't know what you're on about but I like it
No one's on any of those steps, because the show is actually good. Ep 2 was better than ep 1.
To be fair one of the suits in the OP is from Gendem F91.
wait, does the adult swim version not have the same OP as the japanese one?
No, read the fucking thread
Not at all, it's a basic little 20 second thing that's a basic funky riff with no vocals and some clips of the same stuff from the Viva Namida video, aka of the real OP song.
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon
I really wish the Japanese track also had him saying BABAY.
Recurring? Sure. Love interest? Nah. I'd call Scarlet for that, if there's even going to be one.
Weirdly, I want a Meow pillow.
Not a daki. Just a scale Meow plus that's snuggly.
You retards still watching that shit with dubs? You really are that desperate to take the title of the worst fanbase from the Triggernigger, right?
How is dandy alive?
There are multiple Dandys
When was that explained?
It's implied, both from the ED and since Dandy fucked the space-time continuum royally.
Also he's died twice so far
Bahi's big rant basically confirmed that she'll play a bigger role.
So is it licensing issues or ad break issues?
That was actually great.
Licensing issues for the OP and ED.
Funimation fucked up like always.
I ship Meow and Dandy now
I'm glad they became more friendly with each other.
Where's a stream?
I dunno what's that.
Someone is gonna say "lurk more newfag" but I've been here for nearly a decade and I still have no idea what that is
I figured it out already so no problem.
>[HorribleSubs] Space Dandy - 02 [720p].mkv
Downloading as I watch the livestream.
Man, I really am going to end up watching every ep of this twice aren't I. I should probably doing something else with my time but whatever.
But of course, it's Suwabe Junichi.
I see what you mean. But I hope all three of them will develop into really good friends. A good team. Right now their relationship is rocky but today was a good start.
I'm guessing there will be an episode where Meow and QT have to work together to rescue Dandy or something.
>Space Dandy 02 The Search for the Phantom Space Ramen, Baby (DUB) (1920x1080) [Phr0stY].mkv
Can't stand her Jap voice, doesn't suit her at all.
Why the fuck not?
The dub's better anyway
maybe thats because shes not what the breastaurant is making you think she is ?
>Meow and Scarlett are all angry and pissed until Dandy gives them a smoldering, roguish glance that puts them at a loss
This guy is good.
Nice episode. Got to feel bad for the old alien.
dunno why but I laughed my ass off when I saw Dandy crying on the OP
Remember, peeking is bad.
Do you think Dandy will get the pussy?
>Houko Kuwashima as a blue-eyed redhead femme fatale with a feminine voice
There is a god and he loves us.
>implying he hasn't already.
He was blushing too.
>Meow confirmed for reverse-furry
A cat is fine, too.
I like how Meow has to shake himself to stop staring at Dandy. He has a charming smile after all.
I think episode 2 made it pretty clear that voices aside, the dub script is at least better.
can anyone tell me what time it airs in GMT?
Voices in dub are good enough
>that secret of the Phantom Ramen
Viva Namida indeed.
I want this show's OST. Now.
Was hoping the old alien dude as going to join their crew and be their chef.
>Bones logo in the ramen-verse
>Dub had Full metal Ramen-ist
>"Oh that's just Funimation being silly with their self-references"
>They actually said Hagamen
/a/ is dead.
Alright episode. That OST is really cool.
>has bodypillows of human catgirls
is this what being a furry attracted to humans is like?
The dub undeniably had more variation and spice to it.
What a sick, yet strangely arousing thought.
I also noticed that.
no worse than liking the Cowboy Bebop dub
You are right.
There are tons of incredibly talented English VAs. Dubbing anime just pays like shit, so if a voice actor is good enough, they'll get out of there as soon as possible. Steve Blum mostly does cartoons and video games because they pay more, he hardly does anime anymore.
The sub is out now. We're talking about that.
I still don't like it. I prefer Junichi Sawabe's excessively deep "too-cool-for-school" voice
I'll just say that while I normally hate Funi's random changes, I preferred the line "...and all you do is kiss your girl pillows"
You are right
But the dub is pretty good.
>If /a/ was a space cat
Now I want to be a space cat.
Looks like the bean characters in the Mario and Luigi RPG on the Game Boy.
Nothing wrong with making the dialog less flat and boring.
Is that you, famicom?
>tfw i actually teared up by the end of the old guys story
>he's been alone for 10,000 years, doing nothing but making ramen in an alternate universe
...Where does he get his ingredients?
OMG!! ANIME IS SAVED!!
I need a gif of this scene, please.
wow you found a plothole in space dandy where should i send your reward?
My fucking sides.
It was certainly not an original story, they must either have referenced something specific that I don't remember, or this is a half-way common trope, because it certainly felt familiar overall, but I still liked it. Dem fucking tears.
How do they repair and even improve their robots in TTGL when they are just trecking over an empty wasteland?
From father Space himself
It was a stillborn, /a/non, don't delude yourself.
Am I the only one who thought that the soundtrack in this part sounds just like the one from Forge of Empires?
>Checking in at fullmetal noodleist
Damn I wish I could read alien runes
I assume the guys from the ramen shop send them to him though the wormhole.
>not knowing Galactic Basic, Klingon and Bioncle
>mfw gogol street view
is jaicro empire a play on another company?
As it turns out, that was actually an accurate reference
The original line was "Hagamen". FMA's japanese nickname is Hagaren (for Hagane no Rekenjuustushi). I didn't even get that at first
Dai Gurren could produce parts
I can only read the alien language from Futurama
OST where? Shit is great
Anon what are you doing?
>that knock at fanservice at the end
I'd fuck Meow.
Let's post this every time a new episode airs.
Anyone else notice the reddit mascot on the yellow button?
Well, I know Japanese, so I guess I could translate all the space text if I wanted to, but fuck going back and forth.
http://strawpoll.me/1010842 vote here please, I'm curious.
That's probably just an alien version of the classic user profile pictogram
The show is broadcast in 720p. 1080p is just stretching the image.
Myau? is that how he's spelling his name?
Help, I can't stop listening to the ED
>in a thread for Toonami dubplebs
>expecting dub not to get the most votes
Why isn't this on /co/?
Toonami shit belongs there.
What does IRC have to do that Toonami belongs on /co/? This was decided when Toonami came back on the Adult Swim block that all things Toonami go to /co/.
Not him, but I agree. Dubshits invading have made these first two weeks of 2014 unbearable. Dub discussion on >>>/co/, discussion of actual JAPANESE anime on >>>/a/.
Mods delete Space Dandy threads on /co/, so...you're wrong.
Take this dub shit out of /a/ you fuckers
Well, that's because they're idiots that don't know what they're doing. Are you in support of the mod that deleted Yotsuba threads because "loli" too? I'd hope not.
Your retarded mods also delete anything denouncing homestuck or tumblr. Try talking to moot and see if you can get a non-landwhale feminist mod.
Why are you even replying to obvious trolls?
Report and ignore.
Who the fuck is Everett
Toonami discussion belongs on /co/. Shows on Toonami are fine
Also we're talking about the sub here
Yeah, okay, I'm not moots secretary. I don't care.
Most of us would, anon.
You don't care? Good, I don't care about /co/ mods either so go discuss your shit where it belongs.
Hugh Everett III, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Many-worlds_interpretation
I can't change what they the mods are doing. How about you quit bitching about anime discussion /a/.
Sure you can, email moot. Don't want to? Too bad.
Not him, but it's not just discussion of anime, it's discussion of a dub. Surely you see the problem here.
Yeah would I e-mail moot when I don't give a shit if SD can't be on /a/ and you can't do shit to stop these threads anyway? You're the one who's dissatisfied here.
How do you know we aren't talking about the HorribleSubs release, mr. board policeman?
We're talking about the sub release now
Not even a little bit.
Reporting from future. Thanks for this more and more anime will be released simultaneously with dub and they'll westernize in the next 5 years beyond belief
"All animation is dubbed"
To hear something in english should not detract from the fact that it is anime. Anyone who thinks this show should be discussed on /co/ is deluded.
Will there be a second PSG season?
The fact remains is that discussion of the dub happens and plenty of people watch the dub exclusively.
Someone I know came up to me the other day. He was like
>hey anon, did you watch that new anime? It aired on Toonami and...
>Space Dandy, right?
>Yeah, yeah, I got excited when I heard it was by the creators of Fullmetal Alchemist.
Naturally, people from /co/ will come over to talk about it after they watch it on Toonami, which is undeniably a problem. /co/ is not love anymore, /co/ is tumblr. But beyond that, people like my acquaintance will try to find a place to discuss it, and some will definitely be drawn to /a/. He's not a bad guy, but he's not /a/non material. New users are always a problem. Population stagnation or decline is the only way to keep /a/ good, lest we become what /v/ has.
Dude answer me
>So is it licensing issues or ad break issues?
So is this referencing Bebop/Champloo's OP with the shadow fighting/moving? (I don't know if something similar was in Kids on the slope, I didn't watch it)
Okay, but we are seriously talking about the sub release right now.
You are trying way too hard to be the board police in here and forget that the best way to uphold /a/s quality is to be a good poster yourself.
Shitflinging, metabaiting, trolling around only attracts trolls and shitposters instead of driving them away, no matter from what board they come or don't come. You don't have measures to verify it anyways.
Start another thread if you want to talk exclusively about the Japanese version. This thread was started for the dub. You have no authority to make up rules.
It's against the rules to make a thread about something when another thread for the same thing is already up.
>You don't have measures to verify it anyways.
Are you suggesting that the SD dub is not bringing in new users? That is simply ludicrous. You could perhaps argue against the volume of new users being relevant, but it's just fact that because dub discussion is being had that some amount of new users will be drawn to /a/. I'm not suggesting that we ban the show entirely, because it is of course anime and discussion of it belongs on /a/. I am suggesting, however, to have dub discussion on /co/ since that is the Toonami board, decided by /a/ last last year.
That's not even remotely making sense, why killing a poor thread on page 10 when this one is about the exact same topic with still space in it? I got to ask you, are you new? Do you understand how imageboards work?
How can you read that?
The cipher right above it.
Dandy wearing cat ears fanart when?
I thought I left those behind in the nineties.
A lot less sexual content and a lot more childish anime
I really doubt that anime can get any more childish than it already is.
>Meow at all times
Cite the rule you're referring to and demonstrate that it is actively enforced on /a/.
It's fair to say that the dubbed and subbed versions of Space Dandy represent different topics; it is not the "exact same topic". Even if that were true, it is not uncommon to have multiple threads for popular topics on /a/. Attempting to hijack an existing thread is not okay and arguably constitutes shitposting. Killing threads to start a new one is not wrong; ephemerality is one of the guiding principles of 4chan.
If you want change, I suggest that you contact moderation. I've tried emailing moot and submitting feedback asking for a clear delineation of where and when it is okay to discuss the various versions of Space Dandy, but there has been no response. I expect the shitposting will continue for that reason. Frankly, I agree with you that discussion of the dubbed version should stop on /a/ once the subbed version is released, but I'm not going to impose my opinion as if it were fact.
Thin ice, brother. Thin ice
Mature rated anime by immature people.
Meow's twitter name is Meow even though it's just a nckname.
YarrHurrBay usually has an HDTV 5.1 release or something like that.
Commie releases it with dual audio too, so you can set it to english and disable subtitiles for the same experience, but with OP and ED included.
This is so stupid.
Do people not understand that Toonami block itself is supposed to be on /co/, not the anime on it?
Dub or not, Space Dandy is not a cartoon, it's anime, it airs on an ANIME BLOCK. The discussion of it goes on /a/, dub or sub.
/co/ in regards to anime is for TOONAMI itself, not the anime that airs on it. Anime discussion does not happen on /co/ outside of Toonami.
When /a/ "drove"(aka shitposted) Toonami out, it was because Toonami itself was just a block of already aired, entry level anime.
It comes down to board purpose, not fucking Toonami. /co/ is still something for CARTOONS & COMICS that only ended up there because neither side could come to a conclusion and moot just made a compromise(he did the EXACT same thing with Naruto which got shitposted on more than Toonami, except in a far more shitposty way and decided to just keep it on /a/). I know for a fact they don't want that trash on their board, it's like saying "JRPGs should be discussed on /a/ instead of /v/ because they're weeaboo", /a/ won't want it since it isn't actual on-topic for the board.
If you really want to get autistic and say you can't have dub and sub discussion in the same thread(even though almost every part of the fanbase doesn't mind it), then make a new thread for the sub and talk with yourself and anyone else who wants to.
It's not a crop even if it looks like it, this is the full image. My apologies.
pixiv loves this cute little fucker, right?
Well, compared to the other characters, yes.
Not much Space Dandy fanart overall though.
It doesn't count as furry if it's an intelligent alien.
It'll show up on On-Demand sometime later on Sunday.
So, when will shit just get real?
Are the shitposting storms over, yet? Can I finally discuss Space Dandy in these threads without having to worry about board wars?
How are 2chan feeling about Space Dandy?
Not very positive overall. Threads are slow and sparse, and the majority of the posts are that it wasn't very interesting and it has no chance of selling.
Wait, how did they even survive the explosion of last episode?
Probably not DEEP enough.
A theory from /m/
"Watch the ED and pay attention to the lyrics. Look up who/what/where "Everett" is and then try to rationalize how Dandy died last episode but is fine now. Then ask yourself why a giant gorilla and his flaming skull overlord care about him so much."
Oh, wait, 2chan. I was talking about 2ch.
I don't care about 2chan.
Easy mode: It's comedy anime. Don't take it seriously, they don't care
Possible mode: The way it's looking from the ED and constant mentions of space-time, there are parallel universe shenanigans going on and Dandy is the key to it somehw
I don't think that's the reason. Remember what sells in Japan, pic related
I think studios are well aware by this point of what sells/doesn't sell. It's hard to believe anyone would make Space Dandy expecting it to sell in Japan. They're obviously banking on TV/ad revenue from the US.
>Remember what sells in Japan, pic related
... except C3-bu didn't sell at all.
I'm not sure Japan thinks about overseas revenues first. But the name Watanabe is probably a big enough guarantee to let him do whatever he wants. (but now that I think about it, I don't really know how Champloo and Sakamichi sold)
I'm glad they explained this, I was unsure what the title meant.
They weren't very excited over it but they weren't hating it as well.
Good luck with that one
That's the joke, you sperg.
Wait a minute, that show didn't sell at all.
Is this some sort of ruse?
>Not much Space Dandy fanart overall though.
I fully expect that to change over the next week thanks to Scarlet.
That is a very valid opinion aside from your opening insult. The issue is that it's only an opinion just like mine. Until moderation actually states or otherwise actuates some policy, shitposting dub vs sub arguments are probably going to continue.
I believe that you have severely mischaracterized my position. I never stated that there was a rule against dub and sub discussion in the same thread. I am of the opinion that the dub version should be avoided on /a/ but I am not attempting to force my opinion onto the board. I took offense to someone stating that only the sub should be discussed once it is released. Note that I am arguing FOR discussion of the dub because there is objectively no rule against it. There is no rule regarding this because Space Dandy is a novel case. No absolute statements can be made until an actual rule is made to address cases like Space Dandy. Your interpretations of existing rules and norms are only an opinion and hold no particular importance just like mine.
I'll reiterate my point. Stop disguising opinions as rules. Contact moderation until they actually make a policy statement so that the same discussion doesn't occur in every thread. Attempted self-moderation by shitflinging gets us nowhere in this case.
He was making fun of /co/.
As you can see when you scroll up, there were actually posts deleted, and not the ones discussing the dub. How much clearer does it have to be for you?
>Space Dandy thread
>Half of the thread is arguments over dubs and /co/ and shit
Every fucking time.
>and not the ones discussing the dub
Yeah, because meta-discussions and complaints are shitposting.
Shame /co/ has become the board people go to when they don't want to discuss a topic in the appropriate board for said topic.
I miss /q/; it seemed to help keep meta-shitposts off of the other boards and let people think their whining was actually doing something.
That's because /co/ accepts everything. You have people actually defending offtopic discussion.
>I miss /q/
No you don't. Never talk about /q/ positively please
>No you don't
Yes I do. It was pretty much the ultimate containment board. Although. s4s isn't doing too bad for itself.
It doesn't really matter how clear it is to ME. The average user of /a/ does not typically detect stealth deletions and you cannot claim that stealth deletions are a clear statement of policy particularly when the deleted posts are mostly low effort shitposts. Without an unambigious policy, average and below-average users will continue to contaminate Space Dandy threads with sub vs dub arguments.
Can we just shut up and talk about the fucking show? Please?
/q/ was the ultimate placebo.
Yeah, the "/co/ is love" mentality bullshit lead them to accept even the most blatant of shitposters with open arms.
Really it's their own fault.
What do we think about Dandy defecting to boobs? I preferred it when he was an ass-man.
thinking of picking this up, should I watch the dub or the sub?
Watch both and choose for yourself.
>/q/ was the ultimate placebo.
Right. It kept whiny cunts and meta-shitposters off of the other boards.
I don't give a fuck about asses or tits, so I don't really care
Seriously, it was fucking amazing.
I love you.
QT is a she;
sounds feminine, isn't into girls, cleans up, is rational and also the wordplay on cutie
wonder if she'll ever get a body-upgrade
>sounds feminine, isn't into girls, cleans up, is rational
those aren't female-exclusive traits
him switching preferences might be a running joke
I think the focus on ramen might have lost something to American viewers. They know what ramen is, and they know it's Japanese, but hunting for ramen isn't really something they can relate to. The je ne sais quois of traveling the galaxy looking for exotic ramen and ending up casually eating in a little ramen shack in another dimension doesn't translate well.
What's the American equivalent of ramen in this context? Taco trucks? Pizza?
>QT is a she;
I'm pretty sure it's a he
Anyone else get a strong HGTTG vibe from the whole thing so far?
