Am I the only one that went?
I can picture anon nearly alone in the theatre eager to watch his shitty rebuild movie while the only other people are a couple who went there to make out because why would anyone actually show up for this anime crap?
No, anons report laughter, ridicule and overall bad times in the theater.
That is, laughing AT the movie and not with it.
Shame on you americans. I thought the movie sucked and I laughed too, but if I was in a cinema? I'd shut the fuck up as to not ruin it for the rest.
I was at the Dallas showing. I hope none of you were one of those obnoxious faggots that kept talking throughout the movie.
The theater in my city was doing a triple feature so I went with my roommate to watch 1.11 and 2.22. Didn't stay for 3.33 because I hate it and I have to work tonight anyway.
The crowd wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, no catcalling when the girls were naked for example. Did have some very annoying, drunken lesbians making a ton of noise throughout 1.11 but the staff shut them up during 2.22.
There was also a group of ~14 year olds in the row in front of us with an adult chaperone, which I was a little embarrassed by since I'm 25 and I love this shit.
Everyone in my theater laughed at Kaworu being so flamboyantly gay for Shinji. When they're lying down watching the stars and Shinji looked over to see Kaworu staring at him everyone laughed.
They also laughed at some of Rei's lines. Inexcusable.
Way too far from where I live. Not going to have a friend drive me ~2 hours, plus I would've had to ask for last night off.
To their defense, the movie is inexcusably bad, but they should watch their manners in the theatre.
Anno went totally crazy with pandering to his Kawoshin desires, but at least it made for a nice lightshow.
certified masterpiece 10/10 would watch endlessly
laughing in the theaters denotes extreme plebhood; participation in this thread does as well
enjoy your day
I liked it better in theaters that I did when I first watched the blu ray rip. The scene where Shinji is walking down the corridor after Fuyutsuki reveals the truth about his mother was so immersing with the theater sound set up and large scene. The movie was still a fucking mess, and nowhere near as good as 2.22 was, but I managed to like it anyway.
there's no local showing and there's no fucking way i go at Montreal for this fucking movie. It's icy and the Canadiens won, so its gonna be a fucking riot
I'll just wait to get my BD to see the dub
You'll regret paying money for the movie.
Even if the story is standard garbage where they won't follow up on anything in 4.0... the technical values were still god-tier. That's pretty much the only reason I legit like the Rebuild films, they're so technically sound in every respect.
i already saw it
i just bought it for the sake of hating it in person
That's a new level of dedication right there. Get help. It was bad but not "I'll make a shrine and ha"-
on second hand, maybe it'd relieve stress to have something to blame everything on?
TRAFFIC IS BAD
FUCK YOU 3.0
I BURNT MY STEAK
FUCK YOU 3.0
Where was this?
I was at the Dallas showing as well. I love the inconsistency with the dub deciding how certain things are pronounced.
I didn't get my Eva 3.0 sticker, either.
How was the reaction?
As bad as /a/'s?
Lance of Lon-jeye-nus is the only thing that really annoyed me.
I didn't get my sticker either.
There were stickers? I bought a triple feature ticket which included 3.33 but I didn't get anything cool, neither did my roommate who stayed to watch 3.33 since he hadn't seen it. I was hoping for something cool like the little illustrations they handed out for Madoka Rebellion at the same theater.
Not worth the money
San Diego. I'm OP.
Yeah, I wouldn't go so far to say it gave me a new appreciation for it or anything that significant, but it was definately the way it was meant to be seen
>I BURNT MY STEAK
this would never happen with me
Eva's more or less the thing that got my deep in anime and it's one of my favorites. I think it's more to tell myself that even the things you like most can disapoint you than just making a shrine to hate it just for the sake of hating it. 3.0 is seriously the most disapointing thing i watched. back when the camrips were released, i did my anual marathon, NGE+EoE+Rebuild all in a row and i was getting so fucking hyped for 3.0 after the 2.22 preview. i think the rest is history
Really? I saw it in SF and they handed everyone a sticker as they came in
Other than laughing at that stuff it was decently quiet. Right after the beginning when they retrieve Unit 01 some guy behind me said "What the fuck". No one seemed to pick up Toji's shirt.
Afterwards, I was thinking.
A lot a people found it pretty funny how bad it was.
I hear that. Again, it's like they record one dub, and somewhere in between recording the next bit of material, one guy is all "EH FUCK IT. LET'S PRONOUNCE MY OWN DAMN NAME DIFFERENTLY NOW."
I saw on the website, or rather probably a FUNi post that there would be like bumper sticker styled ones, and I saw only one or two people with one. No idea where they found 'em. I at least expected one from the counter like the Madoka cards.
No tears, rage or anything?
Ft. Lauderdale here
I was late so I didn't get my sticker either
Most people stayed until the previews for 4.0, a group around me was saying something about how they expected it to suck. Outside the theater some girls were talking about the Evangelions, I think they were taken aback by not having any Unit 01.
Oh, right after Misato's line about fanservice, some girl yelled out , "What fucking fanservice?"
Not really, or at least I didn't hear any. I couldn't over the sound of laughter and some dude dropping his beer bottle multiple times.
My showing in Ft. Lauderdale seems to have been par for the course. Random faggots laughing at stupid shit (though to their credit, the dub was so wildly atrocious it made serious scenes actually funny). I hadn't seen the movie until I did there and I don't get the hate. Sure there's continuity issues between it and 2.0 but
>expecting Eva to make sense
Suuuure. Honestly, my biggest gripe was the dub. It actually made my physically cringe multiple times. It seriously makes me legitimately mad that these people get paid to do this shit. I could even look past the terrible acting if it wasn't for the pronunciation errors. Fucking that up means they aren't even DOING THEIR JOB. It pisses me off so fucking much.
Anyway, I did get a sticker and a handful of promo cards. If anyone wants one, I'll be glad to jew out and let you make me an offer if you really want one.
>When they're lying down watching the stars and Shinji looked over to see Kaworu staring at him everyone laughed.
Yeah, my theatre lost it as well.
promo cards are worth money? I threw mine out....
Saw it in Austin last night.
I can see why a lot of people didn't like it.
Plot was thin and characters acted like idiots.
Except for Gendou of course. He's still the pimp king.
But it was pretty to look at, and it was showing at the Alamo Drafthouse so there were no distractions.
The people I sat next to where fun and we all laughed out loud at Kaworu's antics.
I kind of feel like they made him that flamboyant on purpose.
Anyway the showing was enjoyable despite the movie's shortcomings.
I had fun.
They probable aren't, but if anyone's willing to buy one I don't mind selling it. Hence "jew out".
I can send you some pizza rolls
I couldn't make it to a showing way back in... November 2012, was it? So I had to wait for that fateful camrip like so many others.
First chance I got to see it with real visual quality was the dub premiere at Comic-Con. That was... interesting.
You evafags realize 3.0 was little more than Anno trolling you, right? He hates a good portion of you, but still enjoys doing what he's doing and some things about evangelion. How can you take evangelion seriously when he's obviously going all out in ruining his own characters like Rei, and just to provide a semi-accurate retelling with more emphasis on cool stuff? I've seen fanfiction that was more honest than this. Why do you accept it?
And here comes the butthurt Reifags....
>3.0 is seriously the most disapointing thing i watched
You obviously having watched much of anything then. Judging by your lack of Cap Lock it's obvious that you're underaged.
>You evafags realize 3.0 was little more than Anno trolling you, right?
And the TV series and EoE...
People have different expectations. 3.33 was also the most disappointing thing for me that I've watched.
Am I the only one who is me?
I'd have gone, but I think I dodged a bullet when I read the spoilers, and downloaded it instead.
4.0 was officially off my list from that moment on.
I think I got a promo card at the Madoka showing. The sticker isn't killing me, but I just thought it'd be nice to maybe slap another on my amp or something.
I do enjoy how the dub changes the tone of it all with the acting. I'm not a "subs only" dude, and while Eva's VA could be better, it certainly could be even worse. Unless it's complete and utter shit, I'm not extra picky. Shit will be at your discretion, though.
It's really just the consistency, or lack thereof, that really bothers me. It's more confusing than it is irritating for me. I can't understand if it's laziness, or a director randomly changed his mind.
No, because I am me as well.
Nobody cares you fucking faggot.
Why am I replying? Why did I reply? Why have I replied?
wow, someone is mad.
Confirmed for Rei.
Does anyone have that picture with Kamina telling Shinji to man the the fuck up?
I don't really care much about the Eva story. I thought the TV series and EoE were terrible garbage, with garbage stories.
Rebuild isn't much different in this regard, with the exception of making the characters generally more likeable. I seriously just watch it for the stupid high production values since I love that.
You went to the Boston showing.
>you will never watch 3.0 at a ghetto theater with a bunch of niggers yelling at the screen
>AW HELL NAW DON'T PULL DOSE SPEARS SHINJI
>AW NIGGA YOU IN FO IT NOW
>DIS SHIT TUMBLIN DOWN YALL
You missed the only Reifag in this thread, and that's Badonkadonk.
I have to tell you this, even if Reifags have a good reason to dislike 3.33 and the new direction that more or less leaves Rei out of the picture, a lot of other people were discontent and unhappy with it as well.
You have to ask yourself, is an Evangelion that actively cuts out good parts of itself really deserving of your internet white-knighting?
>You have to ask yourself, is an Evangelion that actively cuts out good parts of itself really deserving of your internet white-knighting?
What good points?
Were you at the Boston showing? Reactions, anything?
Thanks OP. Going to see it at the drafthouse tommorow because of your thread.
That depends....what good parts? People have different reasons for liking Eva and some of those reasons are the very ones that receive the most hate.
I watched it at the Hawaii International Film Festival. Worth the ticket price just to see that opening scene on the big screen. The audience only laughed at the part where they're looking at the stars and all of a sudden kaworu is all gay up in shinji's face.
Does it matter which? Even if you like Evangelion only for Kaworu and Shinji being together, wouldn't it be better if it had both that and the rest?
I don't get it. It's not supposed to be a funny scene.
Is the movie really that bad /a/?
Some people only like Eva for one single character.
People laugh at stupid shit all the time in movies. During the Madoka screenings people were laughing every time a character tilt their heads.
It's just a really gay scene.
People were laughing like fucking maniacs throughout all 3 movies
No, it's just that the dub made some serious scenes unintentionally hilarious because the acting is so terrible (sasuga dubs).
you're a gay scene
Most people only like Eva for the girls or Kaworu
I like EVA for the action.
I like everything about it
I should just quit being a fan
So was this the only shoqing and was it in any Canadian cities?
A substantial amount of people like the Eva units themselves. I'm willing to bet more people watch it for the Evas than for Kaworu.
I watch it for the character interactions, cinematography, and Evas. Rei is a plus.
>I like everything about it
You poor thing
Has a section with the Canadian theaters.
I guess it depends of what kind of people. Eva is mainstream on Japan so a lot of the audience is into it for the Evas and the action sequences but Eva is a fanboy thing on the west and the vast majority of modern fanboys/fangirls are into anime for fap purposes
Out of curiosity, did anyone here see 2.0 when it came out in theaters? Were people little shits, laughing at everything? How did they take the ending?
There's some truth in that. When I first watched EVA i liked all of it, but I did get Rei as my all-time favourite as time grew.
When I watch 3.33, I recognize that it's still got many things I like (even if it's more that I don't like), but how they decided to continue Rei is what makes me dislike it the most. I'd even say it's tailored to make me not like it.
There was only the usual chit-chat that comes with every movie when I watched 2.0, but it depends on the crowd.
I guess, though it's not like I didn't put in the effort. The one fucking theatre that was supposed to be showing in anywhere within 3 states of here, which is just 5 fucking blocks down from, has yet to post any information on their website. I think I might go commit arson if I don't have enough liquor left over from last night.
Anyone watching the anohana movie?
If I can, yes. I've never seen the series, so I'll probably marathon it before going.
Wanna fight about it?
I am interested in this anime, but the amount of seasons(?) makes me lost.
From which episode should I stard?
What about the first one, you dipshit?
None of them.
It's a rabbit hole that will never be worth going down.
start from the first episode and watch them in consecutive numerical order
Watch other shit, let a few months go by
Don't watch anything EVA again.
Ignore 4.44 when it comes out
dallas here too, yea that was annoying, some of them where in the corner and the black weeboos infront of me
I got eva sticker after the show, they where just sitting there, my friend who doesnt watch anime went with me,he was wierded out by the gay scenes,he also told me rei>asuka
>emotionless doll over sanctimonious cunt
Tell your friend he has shit taste.
Tsuntsun is best girl always, won origianl series, will win rebuild.
You forgot the manga.
Soryu =/= Shikinami
>asuka is introduced in NGE with a battle with shinji in her eva
>rebuild has her rape an angel and just go for shinjis dick in 2 days
NGE Asuka was better.
>not laughing at 3.33
Speaking of which, you'd think Shinji would at least have a tiny suspicion she was into him, even making it more clear with the kiss pat.
How was Kaworu's dub voice?
But I am the only one who watched Gifuu Doudou in it's entirety every week from start to finish.
Don't act like it ain't true.
Shinji is pretty gay which makes it kinda hard for him to understand what's going on around him when it comes to girls.
>No "kiss me because im bored" scene in rebuild
>Implying rebuild isn't shit
fear & self-loathing is more effective than even standard harem density
Whether he did or did not is semi-irrelevant as Shinji is too insecure to ever return the feelings. In fact, I see hints that he did know in NGE but was to scared to really show it.
It's like when Misato tries to "comfort him" and he rejects her. He can't get close to people and this doesn't act on Asuka's attempts to get close to him.
give him a break anon, he didnt watch the original, this is like his second anime movie, first one was the madoka rebellion movie, he said mami is best
>I thought the TV series and EoE were terrible garbage
And then you go and watch something Eva-related yet again.
That totally makes sense.
Sometimes girls tease beta boys just to make them feel uncomfortable, not because they want the D. Besides, Asuka is an attention whore
attention whores=blue balls, ive had plenty in church
Eh, I can understand people liking Rei after watching Rebuild, her character is developed in a more strighforward "hey I want to make you happy like a normal person would and make you spend time with your father" instead of "everyone has reasons to do things, but I like shinji so let's have him decide the fate of humanity because"
in real life sure, but asuka definately wanted the S
Nearly everyone laughed when Kaworu just went all ''draw me like your french girls'' pose of Shinji, so I guess we all thought the movie was silly.
my friend was all like "dude madoka had lesbian stuff and this one had gay stuff, is anime like this all the time"
that scene in particular was right on the line of unintentional comedy, i know I almost laughed watching that at home
Kaworu a best. Anno agreed.
Can I get an image of that
>you will never take a friend to a niche anime movie showing and laugh together at the gay scenes
>is anime like this all the time
What'd she expect, he was gasping for breath there
I got really fucking drunk at the thetre release in Australia and laughed at the entire movie except during the action sequences. Somebody told me to be quiet.
Went to it with my friend
>One guy goes aww during the scene when Kaworu takes off the collar
>>some girl yelled out , "What fucking fanservice?"
She didn't appreciate the piano montage?
>when Kaworu takes off the collar
>tfw I went alone
She obviously cannot appreciate the fine arts.
The BDSM collar.
I went to the one in Kzoo, was pretty neat, except the fucking staff never dimmed down the lights. That and
Other than that, was pretty good. People busted up when Kaworu was being fablous, good times.
During this scene, I think it was this exact moment too
I lost interest one-and-a-half movies into rebuild, and don't know much of anything about the latest two. That means nothing to me.
Was it a gay kind of 'aww', then?
Do you have to order the tickets online, or can you just buy them at the box office?
Bought em at the box office.
I got mine online.
The website for the theater near me said that they weren't selling tickets anymore, so I called them to ask if I could buy tickets at the box office. Here's what the recording said:
"On Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will be showing [very heavy, labored sigh] EE-VAN-GUY-LEON 3.0"
I wasn't even mad, I thought it was hilarious. Not just that she pronounced it wrong but that she was so annoyed at the idea of having to read it out loud.
Link to phone number so I can hear it
Someone plz vocaroo that shit so we can all laugh at it.
She's probably rolling her eyes at the thought of all the weeaboos descending on the theater for those showings.
It's some dude now, pronounces it fine. Lame.
That sucks. Sorry Anon, I promise you that it was funny.
Watched it in Portland. Movie glitched out so we got to see Kaworu die twice.
3.0 was more or less what I expected but it was a fun evening with friends.
Came back from Pasedena, holy fuck was the audience annoying. Much worth than the Madoka premiere.
>Go to something where the people like what you like
>Everyone there is the worst person ever
Why does it always have to be this way
Texasfag here, the crowd here was actually exceptionally well here.
Went to the 9 PM Tempe showing. Stupid faggots yelling about Boku no Pico and Bible Black while blasting the Free ED before, and people getting up constantly. Also this landwhale kept getting up and having to squeeze past me. The movie itself was good looking but made no fucking sense at all.
Dallas, Austin, or somewhere else?
I liked the new Rei design.
Design is the only thing nice about it.
It's not Rei.
