What does /a/ think of Madhouse?
I like em.
More like Badhouse
They were once an amazing studio. Now they're complete shit.
They still make good stuff though, I don't know where the complete shit thing is coming from.
Madhouse more like Basedhouse
If only these guys were as rich as KyoAni
Made some excellent stuff, some bad stuff and a lot of mediocre stuff.
So kinda like every other anime studio.
They're highest-tier, along with Gainax and Trigger.
The Girl of Leapt Through Time
Vampire Hunter D
They made some of the best stuff anime has to offer.
Time has not been kind to them. All their hopes have been dashed, their talent has died or deserted them, and they've been reduced to a fate worse than JC Staff.
>Hunter x Hunter
What the fuck
>Vampire Hunter D
Yes, the rest of those are great, but come on.
Not every other studio has a 40+ years history.
>Great first season
>No second season
Let's not forget Ippo and Ace of Diamond.
Every studio ever has made the best stuff anime has to offer.
Yes, even DEEN.
I like 'em. Pedo-boner related.
Ippo and Ace of Diamond, are you mental?
Either you think Ippo is bad, which is retarded, or you think Ace of Diamond is good, which is euqally retarded.
Both are good.
>Ace of Diamond
It's a I.G x Madhouse project, and the animation is pretty cheap and looks like shit. No excuses like it's a long running shonen or anything. If Madhouse is animating it, they had perfectly managed to keep the level of animation in HxH but Diamond seems like they didn't have to budget to animate more that two frames each second.
>Not greatly animated
The story could have been better but it's entertaining at least.
Haven't made a decent show in quite some time.
And they're still alive
>the animation is pretty cheap and looks like shit.
There are stills everywhere and down-up shots most of the time. It is supposed to be a baseball anime so it has to have a lot of movement which isn't the case. Oofuri was better animated than Diamond.
But the story is complete shit and in that aspect it shouldn't be compared to Ippo.
One of my favorites studios, I watch all what they do no matter what and I always enjoy their work, it doesn't matter what is the source material their end result always have certain charm that always click with me.
Both are adaptations, not anime originals, so they are to be judged by animation.
>There are stills everywhere and down-up shots most of the time.
Doesn't stop it from looking good. It worked with Chihayafuru and it works with Ace.
With the exception of the Sawamura fight I think it looks better and sharper than Ippo.
>It worked with Chihayafuru and it works with Ace.
Bullshit, Chihayafuru was beautifully animated. Diamond has by no means the same level of animation. Also, looking pretty isn't animation. Go watch Metropolis to see what Madhouse can really do and what really is animation.
>they had perfectly managed to keep the level of animation in HxH
Gee, I wonder why.
Vampire Hunter D is great, fag.
Metropolis was basically Disney tier animation, except for 1/10th of the cost
And it was pretty as fuck, proving that Jap studios can make god tier animation at the same level as Disney.
But there's only one Code Geass.
>But the story is complete shit and in that aspect it shouldn't be compared to Ippo
Except it isn't shit and both show are good and enjoyable.
Because HxH is a WSJ manga? Diamond manga has won a lot of awards as well.
>good, sometimes great
What the fuck was whoever made that image smoking?
wow what a shitty graphic
NO CGI SHIT
>Chihayafuru was beautifully animated.
Chihayafuru was beautiful, but there was very little impressive animation, lots of panning over stills ect...
> looking pretty isn't animation.
Of course those are two different things, you can have amazing animation and look like shit (Naruto vs Pain).
I'm okay with little animation as long as the show looks very nice and has adequate direction.
Hunter x Hunter ep.111 is a great example of that.
Summer Wars is a children's movie and I think it pulled it off well.
>but there was very little impressive animation
This may be true, but still Diamond level of animation can't compare to Chihayafuru's, they're even lower than that.
>I'm okay with little animation as long as the show looks very nice and has adequate direction.
If that's your opinion I respect it I'm still on favor or good animation, Hisoka vs Gon for example had the best animation of the series so far, with fluid movements, good direction and rising tension.
Least incompetent studio out there.
Too bad the story went to shit when the big alien appeared to ruin everything.
They have produced a lot of good stuff.
Mahou sensou is shit though.
They were fucking amazing, godlike and whatever, but they lost their way.
They worked with some really great talent like Kon and Hosoda. These days there's not as great but some good directors and animators still work with them, and their work on Hunter x Hunter is impressive. Of course, they're still bound to make a bunch of crap given the quantity of their output.
>no Utena and Honey & Clover
One of the shittiest charts I've seen, holy shit
Madhouse needs to get their shit together.
At least say Ein Landarzt and Read or Die OVA.
They're a great studio, but they should stick to manga adaptations. And real novel adaptations, I suppose, as well as originals.
Their LN adaptations have mostly been shit.
Don't start this nonsense.
Well, I wouldn't say that. Some of their recent stuff has been on and off, but there have been some really nice things they put out in the last 3 years. It's just that there was also some meh stuff mixed in there as well.
I have faith that they can recover.
>Better than Bones
There's sour grapes, and then there's sour grapes. At least Bones knows how to animate a proper physical fight scene cough ufotable cough
Great studio. Capable of creating very good shows out of small budgets (Chihayafuru comes to mind), although they've also created a lot of shit over the years that people have long forgotten (e.g. Tenjou Tenge). The only studio that comes even close to their level of prolificness is IG.
You're forgetting Sunrise. And Toei or TMS, or even OLM.
How about great Madhouse shows nobody watched?
