I recently started to learn German, and I'd like something to listen to so I can get used to the language. Which anime have the best German dubs?
>>
Naruto, now kill yourself.
>>
Detektiv Conan.
>>
As a non German, I have to praise Luffy´s and Spongebob´s voice actor(s). That´s some loony, ageless pretty fitting voice for those two.
>>
>>100066305
This is german, right?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-N3MS1YKeo
>>
The first three Digimon seasons, without a doubt.
>>
Old ones or maybe it's just nostalgia. Like "Eine fröhliche Familie".
>>
One Piece is quite good. FLCL was good too
>>
Rammstein

>>
Black Lagoon and Full Metal Alchemist are OK
>>

I don't understand any of it, but I like it.

>>100066575

I don't really like One Piece, but I might look for it. It is heavily censored in Germany like it is in the US?

Thanks. I've already watched BL, FMA, and about 500 episodes of Detective Conan in Japanese, but I can rewatch them.

>>100066885
I'm already learning Japanese. My Dad wanted to learn German, so I decided I'd learn it too so we can help each other.
>>

How about no. I'd rather learn something useful.
Jap as a language is shit-tier anyway
>>
>>100066305
dunno the only german subs i have are the gunslinger girl and thats coz is a dual release

yet i only watch it in jap

would watch attack on titan in german though
>>
>>100067142
>I don't really like One Piece, but I might look for it. It is heavily censored in Germany like it is in the US?

It is censored, but not that bad. Newer Episodes aren't censored.
>>
I'm german and i can tell you that our voice actor are even worse than the english va's.

They always use kun, chan, san etc and pronounce it really shitty.
>>

You could try watching Ranma 1/2 or One Piece those are pretty much the only dubs which dont lead to suicide.

Full Metal Panic has a pretty good German dub , Otherwise maybe Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop . The German Code Geass Dub wasnt bad either . Havent watched many other stuff in German.

Darker than Black was decent enough.
If you're learning German, Death Note might be okay, especially if you read a German scan of the manga, since the anime basically follows the dialogue 1:1. It was impossible to watch for me though, since the VA for Light was the same one they used for JD from Scrubs. I was always expecting the janitor to show up and fuck Light up.

Although not an anime, I can recommend Scrubs. Other than the medical mumbo-jumbo, it's cool, I learned like 4 different new expressions for having sex from that show.

As for animu, I watched Full metal panic in german and liked the dub overall.
>>
>>100074304
You misunderstand. I'm trying to move southwards to prevent myself from doing that.

You see, as a person living in BW or Bayern, I'd have no motivation to vote those retards.
The problem is, where I live Turks and gypsies are a serious problem, and the people in power do hardly anything, but launch campaigns against the NPD or ProNRW. They do nothing about those poor, uneducated people.

Moving to the South solves that problem, and I can vote Greens or Pirates again.

>Most of the shit they do is not so bad
I'll give you that, they're not terrible. But if you leave either of them in power for long their politics will creep into every part of the system.
They need to be rotated and moderated by smaller parties.

Take the "Energiewende" for example. Merkel did 2 or 3 U-turns on the topic. So did the SPD. First she extends the decomission dates for the nuclear power plants. Then fukushima happens and she suddenly pushes for the Atomausstieg and supports renewables. And now it's getting "unpopular" again (really? it's just conservative media pushing against it) due to the feed-in tariffs and they're mulling to cancel the entire thing again.

They're untrustworthy fucks that do everything to stay in power and will change their opinion to whatever is popular within days. If they do politics based on what's popular instead of what's good for the country... why should anyone vote for them? Many of the good things they did were entirely opportunistic.

It isn't. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's as "essential" as cyprus' banks are "essential" (yeah, those faggots got bailout money). The only reason why it's "essential" is because people claim so, and then when there's a risk involved with those "essential" banks suddenly the "markets" (read: tea-leaf reading stock traders) "panic" (read: speculate against them to apply more pressure).

we do and will have for several more years, we're just not building new ones.

And we're the world's leading nation in renewables. Last year in may 50% of the days' peak power was entirely produced by photovoltaics. And then there's wind power on top of that. That's a pretty good achievement made within a few years. Of course there's still a lot to do, but 100% renewables + energy storage should be achieveable in a few decades.

If we can be proud of anything it's engineering and infrastructure projects.

It obviously is exaggerated and not entirely appropriate for the context. The point is that all this surveillance will be used. And if it is used it's usually used against fringe groups in society. Political activists, non-conforming citizens and the like.

And imagine that the police files criminal charges against you for some bullshit reason (can happen to anyone) and we're far enough down the slippery slope that even the average police force has access to all the surveillance database... they would obviously use it against you.

>>
>>100080931
>all the big names have been translated. but >sure, might be worth it to read in the original.

Poetry only in the original language.
And without a doubt it is better to read philosophical texts in their original languages than in translation.
The reasons should be obvious.
>>
>>100080931
>but sure, might be worth it to read in the original.
Reading the originals is a completely different and better experience. Try comparing the English translation of Dante's Inferno and the Italian original. They don't even come close.
Similarly, the translations of Kant and Hegel's works are not close enough, hence philosophy students all over the world had to learn German until a few decades ago. Even today, a proper philosphy professor will understand the basics of German.
Furthermore, there's more than the big shots.

>most of our TV is either terrible or for retirees
There's some movies which tend to be good (e.g.: Das Leben der Anderen), the TV for retirees can actually be very informative and well-produced (e.g.: ARTE, Phoenix, some of the productions from local senders) and German TV dubs Eurocinema - a lot of it and, contrary to what many people say, much better than elsewhere.

>good, german-only vidyas? those exist?
Who ever said something about German-only? But yeah, they exist: German adventure games and simulators. Germany happens to be the country that produces the most adventure games in the world, but hardly anything gets translated, and especially not translated well. There's also great non-German-only games that tend to be written and voiced better in German.

>all the important stuff is done in english these days
"Important", maybe, but even a lot of doctor theses can be inspiring and not all of those are being translated.
>>
>>100081165

>>
>>100081368

>>100081876
Nah, it's also dubbed, but they'll never be able to translate beautiful poetic sentences like "volles pfund aufs maul".
>>
>>100081659
>Similarly, the translations of Kant and Hegel's works are not close enough
Granted, I read them in german in the first place and never had the need to read them in english so i cannot judge how good or bad the translations are.

Once i've looked up the translation of a schiller poem and it was a very liberal one to achieve some rhyming in english. So yes. I agree on the point of philosophy and poetry.

>(e.g.: Das Leben der Anderen)
that's the #1 movie on imdb as far as german movies go. citing outliers as examples doesn't make a convincing argument. especially not on an image board consuming japanese tv shows subtitled in english.
