Do you think this will ever be dubbed?
A man can dream.
>OVA of JJBA
>It gets a dub
GEE, I WONDER, DOOFUS. Stop asking stupid questions.
probably, but why would you want a dub?
I'd actually be okay with a dub if they made it full britbong mode.
Like if they used gg's subs as the script.
At least that would make the dub entertaining, unlike the typical soulless dub.
>british accent dio
I just can't see it
But he's canonically British, so it would make sense.
A dub would be pretty cool given the setting but english dubs are always inferior to the jap dub so I doubt they're going to pull it off
dubbing jojo would be a bit of a problem, The japanese just fits so well.
I know it makes sense, but it would sound so weird. Like giving everyone in part V an italian accent
That would be fucking glorious and you know it.
>Joeseph having a new york accent
This would either be incredibly great or absolutely horrifying
But Joseph only recently moved to New York in Part 2, so he would still have a british accent.
Maybe in Part 3 and 4 though.
>Like if they used gg's subs as the script.
This could be pretty cool, infact someone should fandub Jojo with gg script for JoJo abridged.
>No MUDA MUDA MUDA[ad infintum]
He wouldn't be going "MUDAMUDAMUDA" outside of the Japanese original anyway, regardless of what accent they give him.
Eh, accents are overrated. Often times they're used to cover up poor acting, aren't that great themselves, and they can be distracting.
>dio yelling useless while punching
>pronouncing ZA WARUDO as the world
>jotaro's catchphrase has to be translated when it has no direct translation
>part IV's jokes fall flat
>fandub Jojo with gg script
Considering how shit fandubs are, I shouldn't want this.
Do one with the Commie script instead.
They kept the ORAORAORA in the OVA so I don't see why not
>Wanting a dub.
Kill yourself, OP.
So who all is hype for part 3?
For Part 5, just cut out the middle man and watch the Italian dub
>liking the most overrated part
Then it still wouldn't matter what accent they give him since they'd keep it anyway.
>not liking something just because it's overrated
I hope so, I honestly think an English dub on Toonami would be amazing for the franchise
So we can get even more shit fans in?
No thanks. We've had enough when the anime started, the jojo threads were much more civilized back then, now it's just meme spouting tumblr shit
Araki is so bad at not-Japanese. I don't think all English JoJo would work, like >>100045091 said.
How the hell...
Why not? Isn't ASB getting an english release?
I thought the audio would still be jap
they should follow the duwang script
they don't let him be ac/dc like araki wanted
Is there anywhere I can get the duwang subs?
Not really seeing as nothing else would come of it as the manga is a legal landmine.
Plus an English version of the anime would be piss. Let's face the facts
It would but all that copyright butthurt would mean names would have to be changed like in the ps1 game and ASB
I think that no one wants to translate 1/2 because of that landmine. Part 1 and 2 don't have nearly as much references that 3 had then it just gets nuts after that. I would watch a dub of 1 for sure.
italy gets dubs?
What if they subtley keep the names like what they did with the Pillar Men (Whamu, Esidisi, Kars)? Like:
(Vanilla Ice has no fucking career anymore so they can probably keep Vanilla Ice Cream)
Golden Experience or Golden E.
Air O Smith
D4C (They never say it's full name)
Besides Crispin Freeman would make an amazing Dio
Part 2 is becoming the most overrated part on /a/ after 4. However, 4 is actually pretty good while 2 is just better than 1 which isn't hard to do.
I always pictured billy zane doing dio. Maybe just because I liked ansem's voice.
I would want Koyasu to do the dub. Just teach him some English and run with it.
Eh, even though his career is dead, he's probably still expensive. Richard Epcar sounds too old (He would make a great Diavolo though)
It's just Freeman has already played Alucard, and he also can do the screaming with Jeremiah in Code Geass, with me already imagining him yelling "THE WORLD!" and MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA
Also Patrick Seitz as Jotaro doing a more "reserved" Ragna. I already hear him yelling ORAORAORAORA similar to INFERNO DIVIDER!
I hate how he names his characters after dadrock bands.
>not the one of the best parts of Jojo
Also, JJBA anime fans are faggots.
I'm pretty sure that the one part that almost everyone puts as their favourite is Steel Ball Run. Then judging from the threads, most people choose Part 2. While people do like Part 4, I've seen much more love for Part 2 generally speaking.
>tfw most people dislike Part 1 but it's one of my favourite parts and has my favourite JoJo.
jonathan is your favorite? he's the only one that couldn't kill his antagonist and the only one that didn't get a stand
I like to watch my favorite moments be animated, faggot
They'd have to do it like those old Manga Entertainment dubs, with a ridiculous level of profanity.
What are the chances of getting more details about the Part 3 anime on this month's Ultra Jump?
You know, the OVA's dubs were pretty decent, though I thought Polnareff sounded too much like Xander: Renegade Angel
Seeing either Viz or Aniplex are probably gonna do it seeing Jojo is a HUGE franchise to localize, they'll probably get high-quality ones like Freeman and maybe Troy Baker as Polnareff using his Kanji voice but with a slight French accent
I just hope that they may be able to find someone who could probably voice Joseph at all ages
It's just that every time I hear Crimson King I think of this guy
what did they dub?
what details do you want?
>voice actors are some Americans trying to sound like upperclass Brits
>mentions of tea every two minutes
>Erina sounds plain old American
>Joseph sounds like every other dubbed white hardass in anime
>suzie q is american
>lisa lisa's glorious ass gets censored
>pillarmen name change inevitable
It'll be awful
You're thinking of King Crimson.
And last time I checked that was prog rock, not dadrock.
Still, I thought he had the best characterisation because his part benefited from a relatively smaller cast with more focused interactions than most of the parts that followed. I liked his design as well, prefer JoJo's to be Big McLarge Huge than tiny manlets.
I'm somewhat biased because I like Fist of the North Star so much, that probably makes me like Part 1 more than other people.
Anything could do, who is performing the OP, some new artwork perhaps.
>You're thinking of King Crimson.
No, Robert Fripp, the man who basically is King Crimson.
>And last time I checked that was prog rock, not dadrock.
prog rock and dadrock are not mutually exclusive terms.
I like to think that Jonathon's stand would've been ZA WARUDO but Dio stole it when he stole his body
I meant that he/you/whatever kept saying Crimson King, when the name is King Crimson.
>JJBA gets dubbed
>Speedwagon doesn't have an Irish voice actor
no it was actually that hermit purple that dio used
They dubbed some OVAs back in the 90s with a fairly liberal script. I'm not certain of everything that bears their mark, but Cyber City Oedo, Violence Jack, and Angel Cop have some pretty entertaining lines. I'd suggest Cyber City if you want a taste.
Why are people just assuming it will even get an English version? Where does this come from?
Seriously, don't hold your breath
Why is Moonchild so shit?
I was thinking Kirk Thornton doing a hammy version of his Don Patch voice
well a big problem I always had with jonathan was that he looked similar to kenshiro and had a few kenshiro-esque moves but acted nothing like kenshiro
how long till stardust crusaders?
>>jotaro's catchphrase has to be translated when it has no direct translation
You can translate it any way you want. "What a pain", "Gimme a break", etc.
3 months, then you gotta wait weekly for the episodes.
has anyone here played the part 3 game? I got the psn version so I could play a jojo game before asb and have had a lot of fun with it
I've been playing it for a long time now. Though I haven't touched it in a long time either.
I should still be able to pull of the Za Warudo combo flawlessly though.
Why does no one care about the quality of english dubs? I mean personally if my job was a VA I'd care about the source material at least enough to make an effort. I mean their called voice ACTORS for a reason aren't they?
That being said, like many previous posts have stated, JoJo doesn't seem like it'd work well with a dub. Though I'm sure if there was enough effort put into it, it could actually turn out fantastic, but the reality is that it simply won't be.
It's fun but unbalanced as fuck
The last time I remember a foreign voice actor doing an English speaking role was some french fuck playing Ethan Mars from Heavy Rain, so I fucking doubt that's a good idea.
That being said, let's fucking do it.
well dragon ball has a ton of jokes that didn't transfer well and its dub is good, well nostalgic at least
>YFW all the stands constantly change color on the show
Ha! Ha! MAKING IT EASIER TO COLLECT THE MERCHANDISE
Jokes are things you can work around in a script. Things like Stand names and ORA ORA ORA/MUDA MUDA MUDA are a bit more tricky. Personally, I say keep the ORAs and have Dio have a small quip of exposition as why he says MUDA and keep it as is.
For Stands I'd say keep English translated katakana spellings and see how well that works. Not all dub actors would yell "Kurashi Diamondo" everytime they had too, and it sorta evades a copyright issue to a certain point, so it seems like a win win.
Now the real issue is whose talented enough and motivated enough to pull of JoJo
I always thought that Dio's The World just copied that stands of other Joestars, like how he used Joseph's Hermit Purple and how Jotaro and The World seemed like the exact same stand, even down to abilities. I mean, The World is sometimes thought of as the culmination of The Fool's journey in Tarot Readings, so what if Dio's World was a culmination of the Joestar Lineage.
I think his relationship with Dio was a little similar to Kenshiro and Raoh in the sense that they were brothers but knew they had to be the ones to taker the other down, other than that not so much. I kind of liked Jonathan's overly kind ways, it reminds me of how old he and the manga actually are a little since all that grimdark edgy stuff came after.
Also one scene that the anime absolutely nailed in Part 1 was the Jonathan vs Bruford fight. I liked it in the manga but the anime made it so much better and it also put emphasis on Jonathan's kind nature.
>no one will call you their brother across 3 centuries
It's just not the same though. It lacks the same kind of emphasis that the original phrase had for some reason.
Eh, well see what it's like if it does get dubbed. I mean, in the old OVA the only thing they changed was Jotaro's catchphrase since it was Japanese. Most of the others are in english (Though I do worry they might change Zeppeli's "Hey Baby!" to something like....uh....I don't know maybe they'll keep it) and it would be too much of a chore to replace the ORA and MUDA with GO and HOPELESS
Besides as >>100058224 it'll probably get localized by a huge company that'll be able to hire big ones like Baker, Freeman, and Blum (Here's hoping Blum does ACDC. His voice is perfect for crying)
I remember someone uploaded the duwang subs on some public video site but those also got ripped down.
I always remember reading that Araki originally wanted The World to have all the stand powers but changed it half way through, and the whole 'Purple Hermit that Dio used is Jonathan's dormant stand' was head canon that the fandom came up.
I wonder if anyone had anything to support that theory that The World was originally meant to have some kind of teleportation type powers (other than those 2 gifs). Regardless, I'm glad they went with Time Stop, the first time you see that done in the manga was drawn brilliantly.
is that an acronym or brooklyn rage?
The World was supposed to teleport? Like, teleport just Dio or anything within a range of X-meters of him or some shit? Because that would be an amazing idea! I hope we get to see someone else use it.
Maybe one day we'll have a character named Wan Direction
>Jonathan is the only one who didn't kill his antagonist
Joseph, Giorno, Jolyne and technically Josuke didn't either
I have no idea, but basically in that scene where Dio uses The World for the first time on Hol Horse, he goes through great lengths to explain how there was no way that Dio could have appeared behind him without disrupting cobwebs or without him noticing somehow.
That, and the later scene where Polnareff kept being sent to the bottom of the stairs when he was face to face with Dio made some people (most likely just one person here and me who remembers it) that The World might have had some teleporting shit going on.
There was also the bit were that government official kept jumping out the car only to end up back in it again, similar situation. But that was so close to the actual reveal that it makes me think maybe it was meant to Time Stop after all and Araki was just kind of fucking around/not thinking it through properly when drawing those earlier bits.
I literally played through the story for the first time a few hours ago
it's a pretty fun game. But is ASB any good?
I'd prefer something like Farusoto
There's no way a dub for JoJo could be anything but superior than a sub, considering all the western settings, but it just wouldn't feel right without ZA WARUDO.
Personally, my picks are:
Jonathan: Todd Haberkorn (Death the Kid/Natsu Dragneel)
Dio: Crispin Freeman
Speedwagon/Hol Horse/Hanged Man: Kirk Thornton (Don Patch, Jubei in BlazBlue)
Will Zeppeli: Doug Stone (Valkenhayn in BlazBlue/Gio in the Atelier Arland trilogy)
Joseph: Mathew Mercer (Tygra in recent Thundercats/Alvin in Tales of Xillia)
Ceasar: Roger Craig Smith (Chris Redfield/Ezio in Assassins Creed)
Lisa-Lisa/Midler: Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
Cars: D.C. Douglas (Albert Wesker
Wham/George Joestar/Narrator: Jamieson Price
ACDC: Steve Blum
Stroheim: Travis Willingham
Jotaro: Patrick Seitz
Old Joseph: ???
Kakyoin: Liam O Brien
Avdol: Keith Silverstein (Zasalamel in Soul Calibur)
Polnareff: Troy Baker
Iggy: Michael Sinterniklaas (The dog in Kurokami/Dean Venture)
Vanilla Ice: Kyle Hebert
Shit I remember that...
Maybe Araki changed it because it would be even more impossible to stop someone who can teleport people away from him short of distracting them with bullshit.
>I'll do it. I'll conquer the world, just you watch Mama
>MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA MUTHA
Oda already used it for Law in One Piece
