Is there any reason why Japan doesn't produce more anime featuring Planes?
It's like we get one once all 3 years, is it because they were absolutely destroyed in aerial combat in WW2?
Its because their version of scifi future involves Mechas rather than old fashioned planes.
Just like Westerner produce so little Mechas cartoons because Westerners are afraid of Japanese superiority.
They don't buy plane models.
Well, we do get Ace Combat...
not enough japanese like cute jet girls
Jeez, the latest Miyazaki is about planes, as was Porco Rosso. Strike Witches was mecha musume planes, Yukikaze was planes, Sky Crawlers was planes, Last Exile was planes, Allison & Lillia was planes, LotGH had shitloads of (space) plane dogfights, Place Promised was about a plane, 801 TTS Airbats, etc. etc. Shall I go on?
Considering you're pulling references from apparently the last 20 years and getting a pretty short list, yes.
I want more Yukikaze.
You're not even going to mention we have this airing currently?
Aw fuck yes Fand 2. Stability and pilot safety is for gaylords, I'd rather pull kulbits and 9+G maneuvers.
Japan doesnt have a military complex like America. So tanks/airplanes/warship animes are few and far.
Mechs are better than planes anyway.
Does America love planes to begin with? I think I haven't seen any decent plane movie since Top Gun.
> Japan doesnt have a military complex like America.
I don't know how the fuck they manage to have a conversation with 2 giant rotors going beside them and open cockpits.
Sure Yushiro, we all know how you shat on those F-22s with an obsolete Raiden. And how they didn't fuck up the attack run at all. Or how they were well equipped for dealing with ground targets.
That plane reminds me of thew Neucom Delphinus 103
Those were good times on my PS2. I wish something equally good would exist for PC...
Is yukikaze good? I think I might've tried it and dropped. But I'm not sure if that was another plane anime or not...
Emulated Ace Combat. Modded IL2 1946. Modded (brace for it) HAWX. LOMAC. Need I go on?
Worth a watch. It can be hard to understand parts of it without having read the novels but it would be worth it for the dogfights alone even if everything was muted and without story.
>Need I go on?
Oh it's an OVA? That's not what I dropped then. Was there another series with something Kaze that was set at an airbase?
>implying you could
Respect the Gs or you won't fly long.
>is it because they were absolutely destroyed in aerial combat in WW2?
American reasoning at it's finest.
Are you fucking implying modded IL-2 46 alone isn't enough?
My own safety doesn't concern me and I'm pretty sure the Fand 2 can tolerate all kinds of bullshit the Mave can pull and even more.
It's even more funny if you know that the highest scoring PTO fighter ace is japanese.
>Japan doesnt have a military complex
I think the anon meant military-industrial complex having strong influence on government, the size of the budget ( .jp has supply part of the budget for Americans stationed here in various forms) and Japanese army being all kinds of limited for defense by treaties.
And died in an airliner.
I don't know about his sister, but in Kal-El's cockpit there is a manual speaker thing that presumably feeds into the rear seat. You can see it on the right here.
>Japanese army being all kinds of limited for defense by treaties.
It's not. For example, they're not allowed to have any aircraft carriers or a military. So they just call their aircraft carriers "destroyers" and their military "self-defence forces" .
>absolutely destroyed in aerial combat
So funneh. Would've been fine without the maymay shit.
>or a military
They can have military. It's purpose just has to be defense.
They can't 'meddle' abroad like USA.
Hell of a way to rise morale, too bad it never happened in the books.
That whole fucking episode!
The looks on the faces of the carrier crew when Yukikaze 'fell' were priceless.
>Closes exhaust nozzles for afterburner.
To what end?
It's JAM, ain't got explain shit
HAWX is better than that pile of shit called Assault Horizon.
At least OFF mode was kind of cool, and HAWX 2 had a fucking two-seat Su-30MKI Flanker. I doubt any other game will feature that plane. HAWX also had a nice selection of obscure as hell planes (A-12 for example).
It's a ramjet engine IIRC.
It's alien-fighting-super-plane-run-by-A.I. I don't have to explain shit.
It can also turn backwards while full speed and outrun alien nuke explosions.
Doesn't take much to be better than ASSault Horizon.
Were it a ramjet it would not be running.
You have to get them up to speed before switching them on.
It won't be fighting aliens if it blows its engines.
My brother of good taste.
Because they already produced the best airplane anime already.
Is the series as good as the OVA animation wise??
Series has CGI planes, shitty electro orchestral OST and it's a retelling of the story from the OVAs.
So, no, it's not as good as the OVAs.
Hey, the music was good, and in a certain sense it was more similar to the manga.
