It's a simple question. Since Baccano! takes place in the United States, I was wondering what was better; should I watch it subbed or dubbed? I've become accustomed to watching things subbed, but I have a feeling that it would fit more in English.
What kind of made me pause was when one of the characters referred to another as nii-san. It just doesn't work unless speaking Japanese intentionally. It kind of gave me the same feeling one has when someone is behaving like a Weaboo for the sake of public indecency.
Back to the question at hand though... subbed or dubbed?
This show has a good dub, watch whichever one you want.
Baccano! is quite possibly the greatest dub I've ever heard. Just watch the first episode in both languages and see which you like best.
Definitely watch it in dub, it's perfect in dub
Definitely watch it in dub, the dub for this show is perfection.
Dub is amazing.
The dub is good, the sub is also good, pick which one you want.
Accents and local flavor on language make the dub interesting at least
Trying a little too hard, there. Baccano is the exception to the rule.
I dropped it 5 or 6 episodes in because it was boring as shit.
Just like everyone else said. The dub is great. I normally prefer the subs, but this is the exception to the rule.
I still feel like the Japanese audio was better but that might be just me...
I don't see how the setting for a show makes American dub voice actors any better
Don't ever feel as though you're the minority for preferring Japanese audio. The moment that happens is the moment /a/ is dead. The majority of people on this board prefer subs every time and simply feel no need to respond to a dub related recommendation thread
In the Baccano fandomnot that Baccano is big enough to really have a fandom, quite a shame though, people who prefer subs are kinda a minority in that.
>not that Baccano is big enough to really have a fandom, quite a shame
you're kidding me right? This is like saying that Cowboy Bebop doesn't have a fandom
And again, no they aren't the minority. This thread is the example of the vocal minority, most people report and hide these threads
>watching anything dubbed
Talk about a normalfag.
I saw baccano over and over and over and over in the 3x3 thread earlier
Dub isn't bad but you just can't stop it from feeling so goofy since you're so used to normal english rather than these flashy accents they put on. Still, most of the voices fit the characters fairly well, however after comparing the dub Isaac and Miria to the sub duo, I can say without a doubt subs are the way to go for this show.
>however after comparing the dub Isaac and Miria to the sub duo, I can say without a doubt subs are the way to go for this show.
This this this so much. Isaac and Miria are such a highlight of the show and the dubs robs them of everything that makes them great. I can't believe people would ever support or endorse a product that does this to some amazing characters
What do these characters lose in the dub that the subs have?
The dynamic between them feels very different even though they're saying the same lines. That superb refreshing energy, especially from Miria, isn't felt as much in the dub. Give it a go to see what you prefer but I find (especially as it goes on) the sub dynamic works so much better, making you excited whenever they have screen time.
Watch this sub sample
Then this dub sample
I have no clue what you could possibly find exciting.
Dub wasn't bad, but not great either. I'd go with sub.
