Okay, so a group of nameless scrubs tried to kidnap a girl, and whoever comes to make a contact with a magician will be turned into his or her own kind. Then suddenly, everyone is a magician? This show doesn't make any sense at all, I might just watch it for Mui though.
Thoughts on Magical Warfare?
It's written horribly, but there's fetish material, lelouch, and gilgamesh, so people are going to watch it.
>attack a human and the human becomes a magician who can easily defeat you
>attack a fellow magician and you lose all your magical powers
>attack both humans and fellow magicians wantonly
I don't think I've seen stupider writing in an anime... ever.
The plot is strong on this one.
Trainwreck of the season? No, wait, that's Pupa.
This, well, it's ridiculous, but I'll be watching it anyway. I want to see the clashes between Mui and Takeshi's "fake" girlfriend.
>and whoever comes to make a contact with a magician will be turned into his or her own kind
No. That's not how I understood it at all. If they're in the human realm --or world, or what ever the fuck they called it -- and a Magician uses magic on a non-Magician (ie., a regular human), the Magician will lose his Magic and the human will turn into a Magician.
>Thoughts on Magical Warfare?
There was too much shoved into the first episode. It was pretty retarded how "all of our friends are now Magicians within the first 20 minutes!". As far as I know, this is the main complaint from LNfags, too. Apart from this, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The MC wasn't an absolute beta faggot either; he has a girlfriend, was able to talk to girls fine, and on top of all that he was able to defend him self fine and didn't need the female protagonist to defend him like your regular piece of shit MC.
Cute girls, too.
First episode was about as generic as it gets.
As an anime I feel like it's highlighting a lot of the problems with adapting LNs into anime as opposed to more traditional media, notably the poor pacing and introductions.
Manga adaptation is just as bad and will be axed anytime now, the problem is the source is just shit to begin with.
Last season we had KnK, Tokyo Ravens, Strike the Blood, Unbreakable Machine Doll. The MC's in all of those weren't beta, were extremely strong (although not in Tokyo Ravens I guess), and can talk to (and even seduce in StB, Machine) girls.
Beta MC's are mostly in traditional harems. Most of the newer action/harem LN protagonists are absurdly overpowered and have women throwing themselves at their feet.
>watching it for worst girl
>not watching it for best girl
Absolute garbage FSN ripoff.
Main character has gary stu powers, gilgamesh seems like the comedic relief, saberclone has titty magic, loli is obnoxious. (KYAAA, PERVERT, LET ME SHOOT NEAR YOU AND TURN YOU INTO A MAGIC USER!!!)
Lancer predictably bit it immediately.
Absolute garbage writing
>We have magic powers but cant use them! or else we make people into magic power users!
>But using magic powers on magic power people kills us!
What's the fucking point.
This was far worse than I even expected going into it.
How the fuck does this drivel even get published?
>not watching it for best girl
>Real jealous about a fake relationship
Yeah, no. If anything I'd watch it for the inevitable drama over either girl.
>What's the fucking point.
Both of those things only happen in the real world, in the Ruined world at least we should be able to see some cool mage on mage fights. Still, sending a bunch of magic using kids into the real world was a pretty stupid move when some asshole with a bow and some rope probably could've done better.
I thought the magician kept their magic after attacking a human (thus why after shooting him she didn't lose her powers), but it's only when a magician attacks another magician - which admittedly is a little confusing since the girl attacking the blonde dude supposedly collapsed.
>the girl attacking the blonde dude supposedly collapsed.
One attack: You make a mage
Two attacks: You are now attacking a mage
That's the only way I could think of that made sense, unless he clocked her and lied about it.
This could be it, I guess. Which is why the normal world is a cursed place for magicians. They can't attack anyone, not even non-magicians.
bad writing then. It's garbage, it's absolute garbage.
>>Then suddenly, everyone is a magician?
Magic spread disease.
No one disagrees with you on either point.
I saw someone call it magic AIDS in another thread, and the name seems pretty apt aside from the fact that magic seems to spread more like Tuberculosis in a Russian prison.
Didn't watch, so can't comment.
That MC was pretty beta and incredibly oblivious to the girls around him. He let trill tits have her way with him; he was literally her bitch. He's also too stupid to realise that Natsume is Hokuto. He's not as beta as Harem MCs, but he's still pretty beta. The only time he wasn't was when he beat the shit out of his ogre friend's ass.
>Strike the Blood
I like him a lot, but he's retarded, too. Just a few steps above your regular harem MC. When the hacker girl (can't remember her name now and don't want to Google) kissed him, he literally had no idea what was going on or what to do about it. He even bought the "I was saying hi" bullshit. He also gets bossed around by his harem. Again, not as beta as harem MCs but still retarded. He's gotten better as the anime's progressed, though.
>Unbreakable Machine Doll
He was pretty cool, yeah.
Honestly, so far Magical Warfare's MC is a step above these guys, with the possible exception of UMD's MC.
how it works is
>magic cast on a human: the human becomes a mage, nothing happens to casting mage
>magic cast on a mage in the HUMAN world: the casting mage loses their power
Black shoots MC and MC becomes a mage, she keeps her power. Bee guy uses his bees on black, he loses his power. Fortunately for MC, he only has buff spells.
Ah, okay. That makes a little more sense. I was wondering why Black didn't lose her magic when she shot MC.
Then how did the girl lose her powers?
It happened off screen, but >>100024345 makes sense.
I'm honestly surprised that nobody knows about magic or they haven't had any containment breaches before since it spreads quicker than mono at a kissing convention.
Besides that, it's just so simple to get rid of it - attack another magician in the real world and get stripped of your power. So why go to the lengths of even taking the person to the Mirror World (except maybe to teach them how to do an attack) when it's going to cause all kinds of consequences as a result?
which girl are you referring to? Black never lost her powers. The only guy who did was the Bee guy.
The yellow haired one collapsed.
>they haven't had any containment breaches before
They might've actually. They mentioned a few periods where witch burning/torture happened en mass, those might've been a result of a breech. They might also have been the result of a smart priest, but at least there's wiggle room.
>it's just so simple to get rid of it - attack another magician in the real world and get stripped of your power.
That looked pretty traumatic, certainly not something I'd volunteer to do. And how do you make someone use magic against another, anyway? Besides, of the three new lolmages we've seen, only Gil could use his magic offensively for certain. The MC legitimately CAN'T use his magic to attack and we don't even know if Not-Saber's transformation magic can be used on others, let alone if doing so would count as an attack.
Now, let me say before this somehow turns into an argument that I'm only playing devil's advocate here and the writing is certainly shit, it's just maybe not as shit as we think it is. At least not until the writer puts himself into a corner, anyway.
The hole is dug, let's see if he fills it in overtop of him.
blonde? or the passed out orange one? Blonde still has her powers, she got hit by painful bees though. The orange girl we don't know what happened to her but she was attacking Gilgamesh and then she passed out meaning she must have attacked him while he was a human and then attacked him again while he became a mage which he did.... and this sounds utter retarded but it's unclear.
Sorry, orange one.
>she must have attacked him while he was a human and then attacked him again while he became a mage which he did
This makes sense, but somehow I doubt they'd make it something as sensible as that.
You know, it occurs to me that it'd be really easy for a small group of people to run around turning everyone into mages. It would solve the whole BURN THE WITCH issue since everyone would be a witch, and since magic would literally spread like the plague if you hit a densely populated area it wouldn't take much to get things started. I wonder if something like this ever comes up in the story?
I still want to know what her magic was even supposed to be. She just pulled out a needle and then showed up unconscious a few minutes later.
>she must have attacked him while he was a human and then attacked him again while he became a mage
But if that's how it works, why would she even attack him a second time? That's retarded.
That's why this whole premise is absolutely retarded.
So was Black shooting at the MC with a magic gun.
So was BEES using his BEES, like, at all.
So was sending in a bunch of mages to attack ANOTHER MAGE in the real world.
The entire show is retarded, that's barely even a legitimate complaint at this point and we're only on the first fucking episode.
Addendum: So was an evasive magic user not being able to evade
So was attacking Gil the first time, for that matter. Seriously, he wasn't even blocking her path or acting aggressively.
>You know, it occurs to me that it'd be really easy for a small group of people to run around turning everyone into mages.
Yeah, just like the idiots that were chasing Mui throwing magic at people that curiously asked them what they were up to. They even ignored that one guy telling them not to use magic either.
Seems like this Ghost whatever group is full of geniuses if they thought sending a bunch of brainwashed morons after another magician who could go to the human world was a good idea.
just reading the wikia for her, but it says her power is memory alteration/falsification, not sure how she does it but apparently it must be through her syringe. Which makes it even more retarded how she might have possibly lost her power by attacking the guy twice a syringe.
That doesn't really sound like an attack to me. Even if it was why the fuck would you need to use it twice on the same guy? Why would you use it offensively during a chase when you don't care about leaving witnesses? I defended the writer a little earlier, but the guy has a lot of 'splaining to do, and fast.
He will never explain
lets hope that she never lost her power and she just conveniently passed out for no reason. We'll blame moe hunger.
>We'll blame moe hunger.
No, wait, there's the ever popular and convenient "Weak body" excuse too. But even then, what did she do when she attacked him? She must've done so at least once to make Gil into a mage, but what memories did she alter so ineffectively that he still ran to his friends right after picking her up?
The only thing that doesn't make sense is why half o the world isn't magicians yet. This shit is a million times more contagious than bird flu.
>Thoughts on Magical Warfare?
But girls are cute so i am gonna watch it, Mui is delicious and i fapped to LN art countless times already.
It apparently it doesn't count as attacking if you don't use magic to cause damage, she only blinded him temporarily.
It's still retarded, why not use teleportation magic to drop road rollers on everyone? Since you're only using magic to teleport stuff it wouldn't count as attacking either.
Yup that's broken, if magic can't harm someone, but still can give you an edge in a fight, there should be some restrictions.
But i guess this series isn't shit for nothing.
that was a typo from that anon, he was referring to the orange girl who attacked Gilgamesh.
Everyone only gets one type of magic and nobody has anything as convenient as teleportation magic. It doesn't matter anyway, they're in the magician world now where mages can attack mages.
You could use any kind of long-range destructive magic to collapse a building on someone, though.
Bringing up issues like this reminds me of Index, only the author for that is actually really good at writing around things like that.
>nobody has anything as convenient as teleportation magic
The MC and at least one other guy have evasion magic, which is basically precognition, can't be used as an attack even by accident and is pretty damn convenient. Think about it. The one magic thing could get interesting, but we'll have to wait and see on that.
looks like he's going to get a normal sword though, I'm going to miss 1000 folded bamboo sheets.
