Why do you like anime?
Trying to wash away the taste of my own insipid high school experiance.
To relive the glorious days of my high school experiance.
i'm clinically retarded
I like the gaudy borderline-overdone art style. I wish the writing were better quality but eh, can't win em all.
Fun things are fun
the anime girls look better than toon girls
Fight each other.
I was a jockey at highschool and drowned myself in pussy.
Because I enjoy a good story
I like series with good action and style to the animation, ones that stick out and you'll recognize it instantly.
Some shrapnel hit me in the neck when I was deployed in Afghanistan and I thought about to die, but I was pulled to safety by a man with a large sticker of Yui on his rucksack. As I was bleeding and my vision was fading, the last things that I saw before passing out was Yui's smiling face looking down at me.
I couldn't stop thinking about her and after being discharged with a purple heart, I spent my days in recovery watching K-On.
I grew up watching things like Sailor Moon with my
Because it's the only thing that makes me feel a little happy and manages to fill the void I have after dealing with a job that doesn't stimulate me and a boring life beyond my work.
>Being a wizard
You just need to find your waifu in the 3DPD girl's heart.
I really like cute stories about young people falling in love and their drama.
You literally can't find that anywhere else, unless you're reading a book but books don't have pictures or animation so it's not as cute.
I hate real life.
is that even possible?
Take your strange beliefs elsewhere you non-virgin
I hate anime.
I love manga though
It's easier if you have a tsundere waifu, since 90% of real girls are tsunderes.
I love anime and other Japanese products because the characters are pure. You won't find that in western entertainment. TV shows over here are either made for babies or they're lewd as fuck and every other episode is about white teenage girls losing their virginity to Tyrone or one of the other members of the diverse and multi-racial cast. There's nothing in between.
Anime isn't like that though. I don't have to worry about becoming invested in a character only for a big black man to suddenly appear and start fucking her and then watch in horror as they spend an entire season hear her talking to her friends about how she had abortion party and how she loves the black dick.
Brain Tumor made me think I was Kuwabara for about 3 months straight.
In that time, I thought I was becoming extremely powerful, fighting in a huge dark tournament.
Turns out my muscles were horrifically atrophied when I finally came out of what I later found out was a medically induced coma. I like to thank my brother for visiting me and watching Yu Yu on his computer while I sat there uncomprehendingly. But he said he never did, so I don't even know how the hell that happened.
that's some heavy stuff, anon.
It panders to me well.
It has many more self contained arc based story telling I like. Of which American TV is beginning to do more of nowdays. The real question should be what media do I not like and why. But that would be an essay.
i grew up playing video games and watching dragon ball z and later pokemon and then finally cowboy bebop and trigun on toonami
Anime is the only escape that I have in my life. My room is safely in the basement and the door is locked as securely as I was able to make it, so I can sit down here for as long as I want without any fears and just lose myself in these wonderful, peaceful worlds that I see in anime.
I don't have to think about how everything outside of my house looks exactly like something pulled out of this video.
I would have killed myself years ago without anime.
I deal with heart attacks, car accidents, and stabbings on a daily basis. A little mindless moe and comedy helps me relax before I sleep.
jesus, where do you live anon?
Stop watching skinimax then you retard. There is plenty of good western tv
I had a non-existant romantic comedy youth, so now I fill that void with anime, LNs, and manga.
Hell on earth.
Wish this was true. that soldiers in dire situations are pulling by a unknown anon and only thing they remember is the yui rucksackand smile.....the anon becomes a guardian angel among troopers and a good omen on the battle field if a anon says this happened to him.
my god I may have had a stroke at this idea....
new anime anyone....this unknown anon the H-hero?
>The best country in the world
>Hell on earth
Manifest Destiny, nigga.
North Memphis. Everyone here is an animal.
its happens at times. Me being 22 fucking around with a bunch of my friends good 20-30 of us all getting together having drinks being loud at local park playing kick ball....had to guard second base. girl Iv'e known for a while kicks it, it rolls and I charge her ass....N-no anon-chan im a girl dont crush me...me- okay...she runs to second ...THATBICTH.jpeg ....it all started there stars rainbows and all been living with her for 9 months now....shes a tattoo artist and im going for my EMT-B....money is tight but can't see it any other way. I am not gonna lie I know most will say this is bullshit but Iv'e never thought about it...its kinda magical.
Because it makes me happy and sad
about the same toonami moto-videos....now its regular life/ sponge bob and I cringe.
/sci/anon pls go
that feeling when you've been drinking waiting helix on syfy for 3 hours or something like that and GF comes gives kiss "I couldn't sleep anon-chan. Did you really drink 6 16 ozs, god damn anon good job, you dont got work tomorrow do you....nope...lucky fucking prick and she goes back to bed with a smile as I slap her ass. good shit
those fucks give me a headache. I praise them for what they can do though.
Why wouldn't I like anime?
It's fun, like a lot of other things in life.
What's weird about liking fun things?
Right the thing about anime is its about being over the top and knowing at times it can be corny.
Its animed andI love the time some of them put into it. Its a better escape that when my buds watch csi and shit. it bugs me when you watch something to try to pass as fact/close reality andits just full of bullshit. If im gonna watch csi Iwant a episode of them just looking at micro then at clock and back and forth and realize its only been 1 hour.
anime is the true escape.
Because generally I prefer the cliches and pacing of Eastern media more than the cliches and pacing of Western media. No judgments here, just my personal tastes.
W-well your personal tastes are good
Because the people who like anime will dominate the coming virtual economy. Make sure to get an Oculus Rift and learn to program, if you haven't done so already. Shouldn't take you more than a year or two of consistent practice to make it into top 10% of devs.
Plenty of room at the top, /a/.
I'd rather there be an increase in teen sex for anime. Most VNs adaptions tend to omit it and go for just the common route or most popular girl. Most LNs are terrible go nowhere harems. All this leads to situations where two people who clearly want to get into each others pants but either get cockblocked or the series fizzles and ends just as they 'become a couple'. I'm not saying it needs to be like every US series where every character seemingly needs to have obligatory 5 minute sex scene once every few episodes, but that it needs to happen sooner in relationships. But at least those US shows address that when two people show even slight hints of fucking, they probably will if given the chance.
yeah....this... I don't notice the cliches and pacing of eastern media as much unless I smoke pot. When I watch it at that point I look around the room confused as to how I don't notice it normally. ThenI get sober and I know in my head how fucking strange it is but can piece it together as I am stoned.
anyone else like this with weed?
I don't know honestly. I just don't.
I'm beginning to question if you're really over the age of 18, anon.
You know that he most likely can't even see anything on that magazine with that visor down?
maybe I am maybe i am not...its a clever ruse.
I almost don't watch anime. It's mostly crap for teenagers.
Even have to agree sometimes I feel that some anons are really dogs on the other side of the keyboard at times.
>ctrl + F
>type in lonely
good try /a/nons
To escape reality.
And anime girls make my penis happy.
You're using those ellipses like its going out of style anon
I hardly do anymore. I haven't found a show I've liked for a couple of seasons, and as I get older watching anime feels like a huge waste of time. I still read manga though.
Bringing it all back.
Thanks for noticing Anon.
Because it is entertaining and fun
>For the stories and characters
Which is why I'm also into movies, and sometimes TV shows. Although I prefer anime to other mediums because..
I just love the style...most of the time. There are some pretty great series that look like shit.
I prefer both the episode and series lengths over Western TV shows. 12~24 20min episode series are perfect for me, not taking 2nd seasons into account. Most TV shows seem to run about 20 episodes a season at 40 minutes an episode, and have multiple seasons unless they flop. Watching one is too much of a time commitment for me. Cartoons on the other hand are usually just cut into 2 random 10-minute segments, or get by on being random the whole episode.
Along with the length, I prefer how the stories flow a lot more. Most TV shows that are episodic only develop the story in brief mentions throughout the episode and on the last 2 episodes of the season, while ending on a cliffhanger. For series that you need to watch each episode, they're just like rollercoasters that get crazier with each episode until they crash and burn from lack of funding or fizzle out because nobody cares anymore. There are only a few series I've seen that seemed to have a story they just wanted to see through rather than milking them for money.
And I'm sure there are a couple more reasons that aren't coming to mind right now. These are the main ones though.
The main things on TV now are crime or mystery shows, and regular sitcoms (often including medical practices). Then there are romcom movies, but for the most part it feels pretty limited. Anime is also limited in its own way, but I feel like the diversity is better and the niche things aren't always bad.
Why can't we get 1/2 hour dramas in the West anymore? They used to be common in the '60s (e.g., Dragnet and a number of westerns). Classic-era Doctor Who was 25 minutes except for one season.
And while I don't mind watching several seasons of a show that I enjoy, the problem with a lot of U.S. shows is that they will set up an overarching plotline that they intend to follow over several seasons, but then often either manage to get cancelled before finishing it (Twin Peaks, Sliders, Firefly, etc.), or resort to filler and padding to put it off so they can continue their run (The X Files, Lost, etc.). The discrete series that anime works with generally results in a decent resolution to the story.
>The main things on TV now are crime or mystery shows, and regular sitcoms
Yeah, it's almost like we've gone back to the '80s. Except most of the crime/mystery shows of that era were better, IMO (maybe that's just childhood nostalgia on my part, though). For the last decade, it's been mostly CSI clones.
Have to say, I've been enjoying Castle, though. Got the feel of an '80s throwback: like Hunter crossed with Spencer For Hire or something.
Castle, Bones, and The Mentalist are all pretty great IMO
I don't really care for Bones, myself (gets a bit graphic for my liking, for starters). Somehow, I haven't seen any of The Mentalist, yet (probably because it's opposite Sunday Night Football). Some of the earlier seasons of Criminal Minds were decent, too, IMO, but it hasn't aged well.
I like animation and there are no good cartoons anymore.
That would be neet story idea.
Western animation sucks.
I like cute things and there's not much cute things made for adults outside of anime, especially in the west. It fills an empty hole inside my heart.
(Actually it's because of the cyborg/scifi action shit, the lite porn harem school shit could go jump off a cliff for all I care. Except for the stuff that has some scifi and/or supernatural elements in it like Tenchimuyo)
I like manga
Because I can't deal with reality.
The porn. I don't watch it at all yet /a/ is my home board Although I do like cute girls doing cute things
The eyes. No other reason. If the eyes are not anime enough then I don't watch.
it's the only place that actually TRIES shit with animation for the most part
you know the more and more I see this meme the more it looks like a compliment than an insult.
Given it's origins as a word used by feminist and religious nuts to strawman people who disagree with them it's hard not to.
That's not its origins m8. It originated from /pol/ to make fun of edgy loners that are vocal about their opinions on god, life and women
In your case it was badly used
More of an ad hominem, right?
Likely what's happening is its meaning is being blurred since the more that people use it, the more it will be used incorrectly.
pretty much describes every word on the internet
but back to the topic
I love anime because I love animation and the west hates animation, so I'm stuck with the Chinese ones
It's something different, i find stuff from Hollywood rather boring.
Also for whatever reason i like to talk about anime to my friends alot more than i like to talk about other stuff.
AND OMFG I CAN JUST CLICK ON THE CAPTCHA CODE TO REFRESH IT SOMEONE CALL ME A NEWFAG
Newfag pls go
Escapism, is not healthy.
Neither is life, but I am drawn to it's dangers all the same.
I'm a faggot.
Came for the robots. I watched Power Rangers a lot as a kid and loved the robot that they would level half the city in. Inevitably I watched Zoids as it aired on Toonami back in the day and I simply never stopped watching it. Now I'm sticking around for the cute girls and whatever older mecha series I dig up.
I hate anime
but I can't stop watching it.
Grew up watching Sailor Moon and Dragonball. I was never really interested in Western series even as a kid so I just sticked to Chinese ones.
I grew up on Disney VCR tapes of Alice in wonderland and Peter Pan. I only started watching anime when i stumbled upon a pirated copy of Queen Emeraldas the best day of my life.
I like 2D girls
I don't have a single anime on >MAL that even comes close to 10/10. Even my 9/10s are rated very generously.
My manga list, on the other hand, has three 10/10s. Onepunch Man, Berserk, and One Piece. (Berserk and OP's ratings reflect 90% of the series, not the most recent shit)
I got bored of American shit after 17 years. At least with anime I get to talk about it with a bunch of faggots.
>not the most recent shit
what? I think the dressrosa has been pretty awesome.
some American cartoons still catch my eyes,I wanted to hate batman the brave and the bold when it came out but ended up loving.
>le epic /a/ hates animes meem XD
Yes, the series shows signs of straightening out, but Dressrosa isn't 10/10 material yet.
Before that, Hody Jones was legit shit, and Punk Hazard was an underwhelming mess.
So I can shitpost about it on /a/.
I like girls.
There are no girls IRL.
Hody was never a threat. His entire power was doing drugs. At least Cesar had a shot at beating Luffy.
Because it makes me feel funny in my pants
I enjoy the characters world. Screw sitting around in the same apartment or bar all the time, I like how in many anime you get to actually see the world the characters are living in.
Also unless the show has a really good budget not many regular tv shows can come up with some of the settings that anime can, such as Space Dandy.
Yeah, life just hasn't been the same since our species started reproducing by fission.
I would rather see starbarians turned into an official cartoon series.
The lack of a threat from Hody's crew wasn't the problem in itself. After the timeskip, the crew being grossly overpowered was actually appropriate. The failing came in how, despite being grossly underpowered, Oda tried selling them to us as a legitimate threat. The best moments of the arc is where both Hody and Vander Decken were curbstomped within seconds of encountering the crew. Had the entire arc played out with that tone, it would have been wonderful.
That said, the illegitimate threat was only one of the many problems with the arc. If I were to pick just one problem to highlight the overall failure, it would be how it didn't show us what we wanted to see; the crew together, adventuring on the island we've been looking forward to seeing since forever.
I just want Pinky and The Brain to come the hell back.
It's just another form of entrrtainment for me. I don't think it's the best thing in the world, but it can be really nice sometimes.
God damn it, White Glint. Stop being such a show off.
99% of Anime is the reality that should be.
Video games, at least over half of them, is what reality should be.
Real life is not the reality that should be.
