He has allowed the love of profits to twist his mind until now, he has become the very thing he swore to destroy.
Yamakan: I won't lose the way I lost with Fractale. I am becoming more powerful than any Director has ever dreamed of, and I'm doing it for Ordet. To protect us
Touko: Come away with me. We can start anew. Make a new anime that...
Yamakan: No. Don't you see? We don't have to run away anymore! We no longer have to hide from the debt collector. I am more powerful than the Idolm@ster, I... I can overthrow him! And together, you and I can rule the Otakus! We can make things the way we want them to be!
Touko: I don't believe what I'm hearing. Shinbo was right. You have changed. Yamakan, you're breaking my heart
In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, Ordet will be merged with Xebec and White Fox, for a safe and secure company which I assure you will last for a thousand years.
So this is how the industry dies, with thunderous applause
People who consider Yamakan a hypocrite are mistaking his statements about anime for criticism when they are merely observations. If I were to say "The sky is blue," you would not respond with "Then why don't you change the color, if you hate it so much." Likewise, when Yamakan says that the medium of anime has become an industry of moe, he is not complaining, he is just stating a fact.
That's not the problem. It's not about what he said.
It's about our expectations for him. Regardless of what he said or made, we have always had expectations for him. Because we know he can truly save this godforsaken industry from the cliche and moeshit and all the shallow things that are taking over. A fucking SoL show about moe girls got the AOTY vote from /a/ just last season.
When faced with such a travesty, it is only natural for true fans of anime to turn to someone who has the mind and ability to change the worsening industry in hope that they may be able to lead all the shitty animators and writers in this shitty industry in the right direction.
He didn't promise to save anime, we just know he can. And he will.
>we have always had expectations for him
Based on what? He's made moeshit in the past, and he very clearly enjoys it.
At least it was only like 10% moeshit at most
Your boss... was seduced by the Idolshit. He ceased to be Yutaka Yamamoto and "became" another director of Moeshit. When that happened, the good man who was your boss was destroyed. So what I told you was true... from a certain point of view.
Considering that Sakura Trick already saved animu, he is not needed anymore.
Yamakan comes from KyoAni and did Kannagi after he left, so no.
Yamakan was Kamina.
He died so that DEEN could save animu.
There...is...still good in him...I know there is.
Before Fractale, Yamakan was Superman. A paragon of hope for the Oldfags who yearned to be saved from a decaying industry.
Now he's Anakin Skywalker.
>He didn't promise to save anime, we just know he can. And he will.
yeah, the guy who got fired for nearly ruining Lucky Star is going to save anime.
He will save anime from within anime, that is to know you're enemy is to know you'reself
I am waiting for the day when a gaijan manages to worm his way into the industry's production side and starts stirring shit up like a motherfucker.
Seriously guys, it isn't even out yet, for all we know it may actually be one of the greatest anime ever made, but for real this time.
>Before Fractale, Yamakan was Superman.
Would that be before or after Lucky Star?
is this even going to sell?
Why buy it when you already have iM@S?
He very obviously has no interest in creating 'one of the greatest anime ever made', but perhaps want 'one of the most marketable anime ever made'.
The movie and the first episode have been out all day. It's actually a lot better than people were expecting. QUALITY as fuck though.
>Implying Wake Up, Girls isn't a literal wake up to idols
>Implying he's not saving anime
To be fair when the expectations are so low the only direction you can go is up.
He speaks Japanese, has a Japanese wife and directed a couple of films.
And even adapted his favourite manga (Tekkon Kinkreet).
What, when he worked for Kyoanni on the very types of show he said are ruining the industry? He's a second rate director who's desperate for attention.
We barely have any idol anime though, it's just a small handful of shows that consist of im@s and not im@s. He isn't saving very much.
I got hard when they flashed their panties. But I don't get why I had two sit through 45 minutes of singing and dancing and friendship if the girls knew they're just sex icons.
What is he doing now though?
It's not just idols. It's moe, fanservice and unrealistic portrayals of girls.
Why do people think he hates cute things?
He's stated he loves that shit.
What he's said he's against is how much the industry has geared itself to cater mostly to anime otaku - whilst this is stupid, since they're the ones who spend on anime the most, that's what he's against, there's nothing about anti-moe there.
His idea is that focusing too much on otaku will, ultimately, make anime unwatchable for other audiences.
sounds like Aku no Hana
>we just know he can
And what inspires so much confidence in seven-minute-pastry-chat guy?
You sound like casualfag filth, why are you on /a/?
I'm on /a/ because I really like anime. I made that post to portray the opinion of someone who believes that the state of anime is worsening.
How long have you been here?
>I was only pretending to be casual scum! Honest!
>I totally love anime like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Sword Art Online! I am a total otaku!
My favorite shows are all romance/dramas.
>A fucking SoL show about moe girls got the AOTY vote from /a/ just last season.
Seriously guys, you need to stop saying this
Well hold on, let's go though the list:
Tied between Uchoten or Kyousougiga
Another tie between SnK and Aku no Hana
>/a/ official rigged polls AOTY
NNB, which only won because it aired in fall.
Yet I can't think of a better show to be selected as /a/'s collective choice for such a prestigious honor. Even if for me it was the hipster choice.
So, is WUG worth checking out?
That's not Akatsuki.
God dammit, Moot
Wake Up, Girls! was amazing. I don't know what you're talking about. Even if he did choose this for money's sake, the anime expressed a very human quality like that of Haruhi, and the animation was amazing. It was as if he said, "Sure, but if I do this, I'm going to make it as amazing as it can be." And it shows.
