What got you into this series? Do you like the whole cast or only some?
Makoto thread? Makoto thread.
So any guesses on this? I'm stumped.
I played a bit of Perfect Sun before seeing the anime, actually. Though the Echo thing was pretty damn confusing when I didn't know anything else.
The whole cast is fine, but my favorite is pic related.
I meant more about the crossover. I know there was an Avengers one I saw too, but at least they're a group.
What got you into the game? Why is Yukiho your favorite anyways? She's pretty underrated despite having one of the best idolmaster 2 routes. Personally I loved her progress in Wandering Star's free play mode. The dome ending was perfect.
Word of mouth, I guess? I knew the anime was out around 2011 and heard about PS being finished, so I grabbed the game first figuring it would be better to start off that way.
As for Yukiho, I happened to notice her just based on looking at the different SP games and wanted to learn more (didn't help that she wasn't in PS). It was only after following the anime, the manga, and going back to the games that I got a really good impression of her. I'm a sucker for personal growth stories.
Although don't you think in a way all of the idols go through personal growth? One of my favorite things about the original game was the amount of effort they put into these characters and the sheer numbers of communications you had with them. idolmaster 2 was pretty dissapointing in comparison. SP did a good job with introducing Takane and Hibiki to the point people wanted to produce them, but when I did so in 2 it wasn't the same. I mean yes they were rivals before, but more like they didn't seem like themselves as much. There didn't seem to be much tension in Hibiki's story to me, and I think they could have come up with a better story for both of them. They also should have given them their own songs in game like they later did in Shiny Festa. idolmaster 2 using SP's song set two times in a row was a big mistake and S4U was also a downgrade from L4U. I can only hope OFA will do better in those regards. They seem to be focusing more on story this time, and if we get something like DS then that would be fantastic.
I loved Hibiki's story in 2.
What did you like about it? Honestly I don't remember most of it as I played it over a year ago and it just didn't stand out to me. Hibiki's SP route did, I liked how the rivals interacted with each of the idols.
I liked how it showed some of her weak points and how she over came those. How she doubted herself, despite always saying she's perfect, and wondered if she could really be a leader. How she handled her crushing loneliness and how she was devastated when she heard Producer would leave if he won but decided to put those feelings away. The night before the last festival where she let it all out showed how she really is, how she often tries to hide behind saying she is perfect. The ending was also something I enjoyed, although her reason to stay in Okinawa was kind of silly but it does show that she is kind of a baka but that she really really values her friends, which she learned over the course of her route as well.
Most of the idols doubted themselves as leader. I think it's a good idea, but the effort wasn't there. After the first few weeks they stopped referring to each other by name and most of the time the other two in your unit were just implied to be there. OFA seems to be trying to fix imas 2's fuck ups, but we'll have to wait on more info first. I was curious as to what situation lead Hibiki to an art museum in that preview image. What would you like to see about her in the next game? Surely there's some things you think they haven't covered enough yet.
I kind of like it. I'd like to see an anime edit of this version.
But they're both the same, aren't they?
I might be a little biased though, because Hibiki is my waifu.
And I didn't really liked the idea of a unit much, I'm more the type of producer who just wants to produce one girl.
If you are talking about the day to day actives, well. I'd like to see everything about her.
But story wise, I'd like to know more about her past, her father, and the rest of her family are a few of the things I'd like to know more about.
I hope they don't stress that she likes animals as much as they did in the anime. They didn't put them in 2 as much, and she couldn't talk with them like she did in the anime.
They are similar, but it's harder to make appealing short hair compared to long hair. You have to be more creative with it and some styles won't look good on some characters.
Not just similar, though. They look like they're cut at the same length. And I think it works well because of contrast.
On another note, cute Miki is better than sexy Miki.
To be fair I don't really like trios either. Duos sounds better to me and it's harder to execute multiple characters as well. You have to be able to not only have the individual right but also how they would react to the other members. Of course some would react differently to others and talk about different things. Like how in Shiny Festa Makoto and Takane had trouble getting a conversation going for example. In terms of depth and content I prefer solo producing as well.
Well OFA is aiming for more private life than before, so if that means we get more day off communications I'm okay with that. That also means we might see more of some of the idols families too.
The games have done a good job at not being influenced by the anime so far. It's not good to focus on only one thing, in the original game the idols had all these little details that are sometimes forgotten about.
>On another note, cute Miki is better than sexy Miki.
Why not both? Unless you're referring to her singing range.
>Well OFA is aiming for more private life than before, so if that means we get more day off communications I'm okay with that. That also means we might see more of some of the idols families too.
I'm really glad about that, I would love to learn more about their private lives. It just gives them so much more depth and makes them even more loveable.
Yeah, I really love to learn about all those small details. Although I think it's fair to say that I've learned most of it from the Station skits.
I think trios work out well if only because the third member typically balances out the other two. The dynamic can be interesting depending on who's there.
Not singing range, but I guess it just has to do with appeal. She seems to jump between the two a bunch, and I've come to prefer her cuter side.
I think the day off communications were some of the best. Sure the working ones were also nice, but some idols act differently when they don't have to worry about idoling. I'm kind of curious as to what the other slot in imas channel is. I wonder why Hibiki and Takane weren't added to L4U? SP songs were DLC and later on they added DLC characters in imas 2 too. I haven't seen Takane's old model, but Hibiki's looks so natural I forgot she wasn't actually in the game back then sort of.
Yeah the Station skits were fantastic. Each character got a good amount of focus and songs as well as group moments and songs, now that's how a unit should be done. I really liked the relationship between Chihaya Takane and Hibiki and later on Yukiho as well. It was interesting how they could switch roles depending on the skit too.

I don't know, to be honest I've never played 1 or L4U.
But yeah, the unit in Station was really freaking great. It just worked together so well. Although I'm more of a fan of the first station unit.
I think it'd be easier for the writers to do a duo as they only have to worry about writing three characters instead of four, including the producer. It also means less combinations to deal with. Although units in the original game were more of just a challenge then for new intereaction. You couldn't do units until you successfully produced a solo idol. I think imas 2 missed out on that point, and producing the unit was even easier than solo thanks to the removal of the character tension system for the danketsu system. I do admit those different morning greetings were great however.
Yeah I kind of get what you mean. However Project Fairy in general seemed to do that. Maybe it's because of their unit image while in actually they weren't really like that.
Thankfully SP includes imas 1 communications in free mode if you didn't know that already. Probably why the story mode was so short in comparison as they mostly reused communications from before. L4U is pretty fun and the DLC dramas are interesting. They even had some birthday ones too as well as some other weird ones like Yukiho shrinking.
Nothing personal, I also preferred the first unit. Just Takane and Hibiki isn't the same either I admit. Even though Chihaya was from a rival production they were still able to hang out like friends and I enjoyed that. The DS cameos were also interesting. I don't know who wrote Station, but I hope they continue to do so in the future. It's a shame the drama CDs mostly have stopped after the anime aired as some of them have the most interesting stories.
Trios may be more difficult, but I think avoiding them because duos are easier to work with is playing it safe. I think taking risks is better than staying the same, so I kind of respect iM@S2 to an extent because of that.
I wonder if I can still get those DLC's on SP, I never really looked into it. Actually now that I think about it, Hibiki only had one or two with the other PF girls, right?
And yeah, just Hibiki and Takane isn't that great either. I kind of hope that the ones who wrote Station will do some of the day by day stories in OFA. That would be great.
>It's a shame the drama CDs mostly have stopped after the anime aired as some of them have the most interesting stories.
Now that you mention it, yeah that's true. A real shame actually, I really liked the drama CDs.
I don't mind the change, but rather the lack of effort put into it. I think rarely units have been handled well, like in Station as we've been discussing. Those were simply short radio skits and yet they were more enjoyable than the whole game. It felt like they went halfway, or even shorter, they should have either added a separate solo mode like in the past or went full trio. If too many combos was a problem just have default ones like with PF and RK or like in Shiny Festa.
I'm not sure about the dramas, but otherwise I think you can. I wish there was uploads of the other dramas though as one of the birthday ones was only partially uploaded so it was left on a cliffhanger as to what present was bought and how the birthday idol reacted. What's interesting is group communications and special events like birthdays and valentine's were planned from the beginning, but only recently have they actually brought these things into the game. Similar to Takane and Hibiki's introduction I suppose.
Is there even a list of writers for the game and station like with the anime? It'd be nice to know who wrote what. I wonder how many people write per game. Maybe it was listed in the credits and I just wasn't paying attention.
Well there is that one lawson drama CD coming out at least, wonder how that'll turn out. The cover CDs for the anime manga and raffles were nice. I completely forgot we're getting another anime manga cover CD, but I don't remember when it said it was coming out or what covers there were.

I think it might be in the credits, actually. Pretty sure it's in the credits.
>Well there is that one lawson drama CD coming out at least, wonder how that'll turn out.
I did enjoy the Makoto&Hibiki one.
> I completely forgot we're getting another anime manga cover CD, but I don't remember when it said it was coming out or what covers there were.
Now I didn't know this, that's some nice news.
>anime manga cover CD
please do tell, i always welcome more music
The lawson drama CD is the one with Haruka, Yukiho, Chihaya, and Takane. You're thinking of the ichiban kuji cover CDs I mentioned. Do you think the winter one will get ripped? Those idols aren't really as popular and there's no Hibiki in it either.
I remember seeing a scan about it, but sadly I didn't save it. If I find it I'll post it here.
You guys talking about the Yuru yuri one?
>The lawson drama CD is the one with Haruka, Yukiho, Chihaya, and Takane. You're thinking of the ichiban kuji cover CDs I mentioned. Do you think the winter one will get ripped? Those idols aren't really as popular and there's no Hibiki in it either.
Well, I don't know then. Maybe I get it from YAJ but I pretty much only buy stuff with Hibiki or Hibiki only... but that's me.
The Yuru Yuru one was the first one. The scan I mentioned announced a second one. Maybe it was with the second volume announcement, has that come out yet?
Yeah I know, that's why I was worried it wouldn't get ripped as no one else would be interested in buying it. Those covers the announced sounded great and I'm sure the drama tracks will be too.
The second volume came out but there was no cover CD with it.
Ah really? I'll have to go searching for what that scan said then. I can't recall how long ago it was though.
Yeah. Those type of things are always announced with the magazines it comes with, especially considering one of the anime/manga that was covered was also published in that magazine. This time around it didn't happen. There was also no "special edition" version of the second volume. Maybe it'll happen with the third volume.
>There was also no "special edition" version of the second volume
But what about that second cover?
Second cover came with the order of the February Issue of All Comic Rex.
Damn, Hibikin looks really cute on that cover.
I want Taskmaster to teach the Idolmasters some moves.
M@rvel x IM@S crossover when?
