Alright, it looks like it's getting to be that time. Lot's of good shit as usual:

imagine 3d modelling in Houdini.
its only good for one thing: VFX

Imagine doing anything in Blender.
it's only good for one thing: The dumpster.

Blender: living 24/7 rent-free, now also in Houdiniheads!
>>

>Blender: living 24/7 rent-free
yeah living in the dumpster is free, who could charge for that?
>>
>>708092
nice try Houdinifag. how does it feel to know that your little memeware will be displaced by Blender after a few years more of funding and community development? all those years spent learning the way of Houdini, all for nothing. lel
>>
>>708080
And that's a huge part. I have yet to find another 3D package that exceeds it in that category. It's also the dream of every TD with enough mathematical knowledge.
>>
>>708096
At least we get paid regularly. Houdini is only for the high IQ juggernauts, not for Animu porn producing cave dwellers.
>>
>>708096

No other 3d software I have used allows me to set up a file node, do hair sim, cloth, whatever, change it with a newer iteration of my model, and not breaking in ten different places.

The hoops you need to go through to achieve this in other packages is crazy.

The workflow you use in houdini should be standard everywhere. Change my mind faggot

90% of western artists and 100% of Indian CG slaves are too dense to operate big brain software like Houdini.
>>
>>708096
Imagine the pitiful mind that is actually believing this.
Blendlets believe they have a chance at taking the Grand Wizard down, while they can't even hold eye contact with the bitchy sorceress.
Is that still the Dunning Kruger effect or something different entirely?

Why are Houdinifags such elitists, and so obsessed with "IQ"?

You've already lost if you ask questions like this
>>

I've tried, its great for hard surface.
Also, rigging is fantastic(if you're not a codelet) very logical n shiet

If you like Houdini's rigging, you'll love Maya's. Houdini rigging basically ripped off Maya but shittier and with slower single threaded playback.

Houdini is the future. You don't have to like that fact, but at least admit it to yourself.
>>
you guys talk as if the principles of one software can't be applied into another software disregarding the fact that only an idiot would reinvent the wheel every time

all software packages are built on top of others, but keep fighting
>>
>>708448
you think you are being smart with this post but you just reveal that you know absolutely nothing about Houdini

Anyone have any experience simulating snow around a buildig using houdini? Currently just using forestpack and 3ds max, but it takes long and doesnt look as good.
>>
>>708468
The gamedev toolset has a snow sop you can use out of the box. Or look into pop grains, their standard clumping behaviour is pretty snow-like.

What sort of pipeline is this?
do rigging/animation etc in maya then export alembic cache and apply hair/cloth/liquids etc.. in Houdini, the animation needs altering make the changes repoint to new cache and shit just works™ ?

if so I might need to look into this.

Why would I go back to the inferior solution? I literally switched to Hou from XSI and the only thing I miss is the middle click mechanism and the modeling.
