Just opened this program for the first time in months and it sent me into a nuclear rage, again. It's been 20 years, why wont pixologic just sort out the UI?
>>706310take a day, and streamline the UI for yourself. under preferences, in config, use the enable customize toggle to then move any UI elements with ctrl+alt, drag them into the middle and drop them if you want to just get rid of them. store config when youre done to save it as a startup file.you can also use the custom ui menu in there to create your own menus with whatever buttons or functions you want in it, and you can assign a hotkey to those custom menus to call them with whatever key you want.Zbrush has an incredibly customizable and flexible interface, you just have to know how to do it, and it isnt immediately obvious. i do wish they would enable edit mode by default though and just have you hit the load tool button to pick your file instead of having to draw it on and then activate edit mode
>>706313Moving buttons around and changing hotkeys wont cut it, it needs a complete overhaul.Every program in existence has file>open, file>import, create>cube to get shit into its editor, yet ZBrush does things as unconventially as possible. I don't get it, these are the same people that made Sculptris that has a very straigtforward and effective UI, it just lacks features. Yet it's like they designed ZBrush to be as illogical and inaccesable as possible.Scrap the 2.5D shit. Stop with the "tools" and "subtools". Stop tiling shit under a thousand drop down lists. Make it function like any other sensibly designed program.
>>706318Substance Painter used to be in this same boat to me. Now it's as intuitive as ever. Then again, I don't think much has changed with it besides cleaning up the UI.
I've heard that the UI makes more sense when you try it on a tablet
>>706310the UI is fine
>>706310Bro discord me Ill show you so much shitsLawlipopsicle#4865Disregard my pedophile name. I know its a frustrating UI so I enjoy helping others through it.
>>706310Press T to go into edit mode. Other than that whatever. Zbrush is no harder than any other piece of cg software.
>>706310What cant you do.
>>706310brute force yourself into the software by following pavlovichivichiv or whatever his name is, the fast talking zbrush guruafter a while you know where everything is and how to get things donesimple
>>706310Hey anon I really appreciate you making a new thread about Zbrush's UI as much as I liked the 100 before it. I'm sure this subject matter will result in a great discussion. Hopefully a higher up at Pixologic will even read this and radically change there industry standard software in the next release just for you. While your at it you should make a new thread about Blenders UI because we all know free software is shit software. Anyways keep at it and happy modeling -- or sculpting in your case.
>>706310Mate I get youI caved and got zbrush, got FlippedNormals payed tutorial and followed itI still don't understand what the fuck I am doing nwhen I'm trying to start a file or import somethingLike sometimes it just comes straight in with GoZ, sometimes I have to "grow" it or whatever before I can use it, sometimes after I grow it it just makes more and won't let me get to sculpting mode, if I want to start a new sculpt I have to like, choose a random star or sphere, then make it 3d, then SOMEtIMES it lets me sculpt like normal, other times it wond let me select edit mode and it just forces me to keep generating spheres until I clear canvas enough that it works. It's fucking weirdmDon't get me wrong, once I get started actually sculpting things are good, I understand and it works, but getting up and running is so hit or miss and I still can't figure out why
>>706365Maybe the hundreds of threads about it indicates that a legitimate problem exists, "industry standard" is just a buzzword since it changes every 2 years.
>>706376zbrush has been an industry staple for over a decade
>>706378And the interface has been shit for 2.
>>706368> caved and got zbrush, got FlippedNormals payed tutorialGiving two sweeds ur address.
>>706310no program ui is so difficult to learn that a below average person couldn't learn it in a week or two.maybe you're just dumb?
>>706318>Scrap the 2.5D shit. Stop with the "tools" and "subtools". Stop tiling shit under a thousand drop down lists. Make it function like any other sensibly designed program. And yet, those "sensibly designed" programs don't have 1% of the market share ZBrush has, so clearly playing UI wankery instead of adding real function doesn't actually help.
>>706368>Like sometimes it just comes straight in with GoZ, sometimes I have to "grow" it or whatever before I can use itBecause you need a base polymesh for it to override and instantly appear, if you subtools are empty you need to manually drag it out.
>>706413It's old, anon. Of course it'll have a huge following of boomers who refuses to learn new things.
>>706410Can you point out where I said I couldn't learn it? No you can't because that's not what I said you illiterate fuck. >>706413That's a false dichotomy.
>>706327>Disregard my pedophile name.Kek
Berserk Shitty CGIhttps://youtu.be/OmXwnQjB-Mc
I start 3d with zbrush so for me the UI is god tier
>>706465Can you point out where I said you wouldn't learn it? Stop making threads purely for venting your frustrations dumb dumb
>>706510Do better fgt
I'm glad zbrush has a pleb filter. If you don't like it I hear blender sculpt build is up to 1/10th the performance now. >>706318If they were to standardize file saving it would reduce the amount of fantastic forum posts where people who haven't learn the program fume over the fact that they cannot edit the file they were working on because they only saved a 2D image.
>>706610>waaaaaa I don't like people making art better than me>good thing they can't use the program so I look marginally better
>>706629Sounds like a loser describing a winner.
>>706310even if they did change the UI you would still be too lazy to try and fucking learn it.
