If i render 24/7 for MONTHS, does the termal paste need to be changed more often?
>>704714why dont you just control the temp. and if you notice increase over time change it?
>>704718it definitely increased, i had to pull frequency down
>>704719then its definitely up for changing
>>704714Y-you need to... TO CHANGE THE THERMAL PASTE?!?!?
>>704739ow fuck, is this board so fucking slow?
>>704714do you even know what thermal paste does in the first place?
sysadmin answer: nothe paste will degrade over time, but we are talking decades for the best paste, years for the worst.just watch the temps, if the temps are under 80 degrees then who cares about the paste.
>>704897Do you ever know how to gtfo?>>704927So why my temps raised? Is it just dust?I had to underclock a little to stay under 80.
>>704739It can dry out and turn to dust. But does it happen often? Nah>>704927This.Give no fucks unless randomly the component is hotter than what should be possible stock.
>>705287Probably, I have computers with whatever paste came from the Dell factory over a decade ago and there more than fine, just dust it out and check and see if your cooler is working fine still.
>>704927would you consider arctic silver 5 a good paste? I just had to change mine out after 2 years of use. My cpu was idling at 50c and would cap out and underclock the cpu at 70c. Changed out the thermal paste and it idles at 35c, never goes over 60c now full load.Dust wasn't an issue.
>>706210No, Arctic Silver 5 is outdated since it's conductive and requires curing cycles. Noctua NT-H1/H2 or Arctic MX-4 are what I would suggest.
I've had the same thermal paste for 7 years.
>>704714I've been running my pc almost non stop for 5 years now, I've never changed the paste and been using it for heavy gaming, sculpting and modeling.it still runs 100% perfectly.it is also the first pc i ever put together
>>704714get yourself account at render farm you dipstick..
>>706210Different paste brands is a meme. Theoretically, you can crank temp down by 1-2 degrees, practically, it all comes down to you stop being a retard and smearing it all over like you're making a sandwich. If you really want to bring your temp down, install a single front fan or think about getting those compact liquid cooling systems for $175.
why use expensive thermal pastes when mayonnaise performs just the same?
>>707409Do render farms monitor the content of what's being rendered? Can I safely do my R34 futanari patreon work on there without getting complaints?
>>704927maybe stop being a sysadming and start selling newspaper since you still live in the 80's
