Does anybody know if theres an accurate timer for projects in 3dsmax?
Something that will count how long you have been working on that file or something?

Use a billing program, they are made for this and some of them can auto pause on un-focus, check the project your working on, etc..

adjusting the autosave feature and the amount of backup files to stuff like 30 or 40 can often save your life AND give you an idea of how long you been working in a project - let´s say that you create a recovery every hour or so, the last 40 hours will be safe in the temp folder. If your scene has something around 2 Giga in size, that´s 80 Gigabytes you had to have just for the backup.
