I'm gonna try setting up an 500.00+ Bounty to get an addon for blender. Where other people can also up the bounty. More info:http://studios.disneyresearch.com/2019/07/12/tangent-space-optimization-of-controls-for-character-animation/Since this stuff is Copyrighted, and it seems like it would be a heavy task. It would be the only chance I see this being worked on. outside the foundation.
>>696333Good idea actually.I don't put too much hope in the whole animation 2020 hype the BF tries to stir up. Better to take addons in your own hands.
What is the chance that Pixar open source this stuff? Or at least sell a license to Autodesk.I want this.
>>696475That's the Disney side, I won't expect them to free their tech. But as long as it isn't patented, it can be implemented by others.
>>696490Yeah Pixar tended to make quite a few things open source but Disney loves to be an absolute cunt
>>696333500 bucks is a drop in the bucket, this research probably cost hundred of thousands
>>696494I think he meant the bounty for someone to take the paper and make a addon out of it.500 for the programming using the paper, not for developing a similar mechanism.
>>696494A bounty, and I'll continue to add to it over the course of time, And I welcome additional users to add to the funds if they wish. And with the paper thats open, it seems that a lot of the research is done.
>>696333Definitely worth a try! I don't want to be negative about it, but there's something you should keep in mind: Someone with the skills to write this could probably make a lot more money selling it as a Maya plugin than they could receive from Blender users.
>>696514I'm sure they'd might. But It is copy Righted by Disney. So good luck Trying to sell it. (Assuming they'd use the research) But, It might be possible to sell it, and I implore IF the user can sell it. Or change it so that any other program can use it, and then sell that aswell. Do it.
>>696490Or you know, just pirate it.
>>696919How? It's proprietary tech. Good luck with finding it outside Disney.
>>696333that vids volume is too low, but I think this blender addon does something similar, also where can I see this bounty? https://gumroad.com/l/motiontrail3d
>>696494Developing ideas is always more expensive than ripping them off.
>>696333>http://studios.disneyresearch.com/2019/07/12/tangent-space-optimization-of-controls-for-character-animation/Recieved funding from the EU it might not be as locked down as you think!
>>696971if it touches gov money, it's everyone's.
