What videogames does /3/ play?
I'm currently playing Warframe on my free time.
What about you fellas?

Vidya is a waste of time and mmo grindfests are the worst of the worst. I love warframes art but you gotta uninstall that shit. It eats up all your freetime. Dicking around in 3d, doing tutorials, watching stupid movies, painting gundams, pretty much anything other than gaming will give you something beneficial for your growth as a artist WHILE you relax. I was zoning out to mrs butterbeans cafe yesterday and thats literal garbage for toddlers with nicer animation than anything ive ever made.

This
Sometimes I get burnt out an start playing games, but it's just a time killer which gains you nothing. I find I fall into a trap where I will play games instead of trying to learn something new, then usually I got a point when I rebound the other way and go on learning spree maybe a new software or technique catches my eye and I go deep down a rabbit hole
>>
Ever since I started messing around with 3D, my interest in video games has declined over the past year or so, but if I'm playing something it's usually something that I can just sit back and relax with, like Binding of Isaac, or BotW. :)

I'm playing Dragonquest Builders 2. Good shit, lovely art.
>>
>>694750
Runescape.
While waiting for a test render or something I'll play.
>>
>>694750
I only play games with charming animations like Sekiro and Nioh
>>
>>694750
I don't have time or nerves for games anymore.
>>
i cant play fps because it makes me feel ill.
>>
>>694826

Just up the fov then.
>>
>>694851
it doesnt work and most games increase fov in the wrong way. Literally the only fps I could play comfortably is dead now, the halo series
>>
>>694857
What about fallout?
>>
>>694750

AC: Origins, I love the visuals, pretty inspiring.

The truth is, I've been unable to enjoy video games for a long time. I thought I just didn't enjoy video games anymore, but then I realized there are very few games that are worth experiencing to begin with. Hell, I realized the same applies to just about any form of media. At some point you need to focus on what you love the most and get inspired by them, instead of continuing an endless pursuit to find something else.

Ever since I got into 3D art, I've started using my lack of interest as a motivation tool. Even if I do consume entertainment media, it serves my purpose. I take notes, I take sxreenshots, video clips, audio clips, etc.

Don't let your dreams be dreams. Don't force yourself to enjoy sub-par entertainment just because your mind is conditioned to do so. Set your own standards, believe in your tastes and serve your niche. I wish you all good fortune.

I play a lot Simpsons hit and Run now, because I can do lowpoly characters and enjoy them in an easy-to-mod game.

I love cs 1.6 and tf2 as well.
And ooooonce in a while, I play strategy games like AoM or AoE
>>
- Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists
- Astral Chain
- Guilty Gear Xrd Rev.2
- BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle
- Gonna pick up Dragon Quest XI "Soon".
- Wanna play Daemon X Machina and Atelier Ryza when those come out.
- Recently finished La Mulana 2.

Picked Warframe back up after two and a half years, dropped it after a week. I hated it almost universally, I really don't understand how people can stomach it.

Yes, I model mostly animeshit.

I literally play wow.

Games are a culmination of several fields of art at the same time though. It's a little strange to assume you can't absorb anything art-related and become better the way you can with other art forms.

>it's just a time killer which gains you nothing

Time killers are meant for you to unwind and relax. Humans can't constantly be mentally engaged and on a grind, that's a self-destroying mentality. You need things to take the edge off.

Not every videogame is Warframe or FFXIV tier either, anons.

Haven't played anything in weeks to be honest. Though last game I played was Witcher 3 for the first time, definitely was a pretty good timesink.
I just that overwhelming drive to just create after spending a fuck ton of time doing nothing. It's been carrying pretty steady for a few weeks, so I've been pretty fulfilled spending my day making shit rather than playing games. Well, also shitposting here.

Mostly I just play shit like Monster Hunter though. Looking forward to Iceborne coming out on PC. I like Morrowind too, and Dragon's Dogma. And usually every so often I hang with my younger brothers and we play some Civ for a few hundred hours.

Games better be on point when you work 3d. Clipping triggers me, repeating textures trigger me, bad animations trigger me, etc...

The popular notion that you are wasting your time playing videogames is very flawed in my opinion.
It is seemingly based on the idea that only activities that counts towards elevating your social standing, amassing knowledge, monetary gain
or increased responsibilities are worthy endeavors to undertake.

The problem with this is whatever you are opting to do it will consume time, time that you can never get back no matter what.
Your time is worth so much more than anyone will ever be prepared to pay you for it so you wanna sell as little of it as possible as expensively as you can.

Maximizing and investing your free time in something you enjoy is actually the opposite of waste, it is winning.

Now perhaps you don't like any games out there, in which case you need to find something else to invest in
but if you're a gamer you should recognize that playing is life, whatever comes before or after is mainly just waiting.
In my view people who place no value on their own entertainment can't ever win in life no matter how many dollars they take with them into the grave.

If you are the kinda person who enjoy videogames it is one of the most easily sustainable time sinks available that will ensure you're having a good time on planet earth.

Doesn't trigger me at all, when I see something subpar it typically just inflates my ego knowing how much better I am than the clowns involved with that production.
There is a happiness in being better than others that stems from our genetic need of one-up another to prove ourselves worthy for reproduction.

It's ridiculous of course but since it comes pre-installed on our hardware it's just a question of using it to feel like you're winning whenever you're superior.

Whenever I'm playing something and comes across stuff that impresses me and is on the verge of what I can achieve is when I get triggered, but in a good way.
It places a lit torch under my ass to quit playing and go improve til I've learned how to make that stuff myself.
