Hi [3/, i need some help
Going back into 3D after 6 years of doing video editing.
Can anyone share good expert level maya tutorials to get me up to speed without having to go through piles of trash?

How are the sculpting tools? are they anywhere near as viable as a proper sculpting software?

Can i incorporate more pipeline into maya w/o having to go into other software compared to half a decade ago?

How does arnold compare to vray in popularity?

Are the UV tools still horrible?

>How does arnold compare to vray in popularity?
implying that popularity matters more than functionality
>>
>>692145
popularity often mirrors functionality

>Are the UV tools still horrible?

About Arnold... MAX removed vray and replaced it with Arnold, so donĀ“t be surprised if the same happened to Maya. Like all the fancy new renderers, it has its own materials, its incompatible with standard materials and has its own light and cameras, and takes time to get used to. About sculpting, you can always export from Zbrush directly.

Good lord...

>MAX removed vray and replaced it with Arnold,
such bullshit
Vray was always seperatetely availbable and still is
>>
>>692177
Back when i did CG i worked with both maya and zbrush and on complex projects it became an absolute nightmare.

shitposting/10
this anon doesn't know shit about rendering
Arnold is indeed native in both Maya and Max
Vray never was though, but it's more than ever a top tier renderer
Nobody uses "standard" materials and lights anymore

The jetleg from jumping apps becomes too disorienting as you go on into a very complicated project. I know this is lazy talk but you haven't seen what I've seen, an ocean of flipped texture maps streached beyond the horizen. A team of mimimum wage 3D artist staying in the studio with silenced phones up to 1am.

>>692256
Wow, it's f-ing nothing then.
>>

At first I thought you were doing next-level trolling, but considering your most recent posts I'm starting to believe you are genuinely retarded.
>>
>>692276
only noticed now that was a namefag LOL
>>
Back on topic, where's the high quality turorials?
>>
>>692256
it's literally nothing
any company that matters jumps from Zbrush to 3D softs like Maya, Max, or Houdini all the time
>oh no zbrush flips textures vertically
that's the fucking easiest thing to fix in the universe
stop whining, we know you're a young noob just by the fact that you called them "apps"
