Seems to have finally hit the sweet spot between specs and price.
>8,192Why is this necessary, especially in 3D? I could understand how 2048 might fall short in some scenarios but why no 4096 or 5555. Not a bad price if it doesn't have like 4+mm between the actual screen and contact surface.
>>690812because MOAR IS MOAR.my shitty old 2004 Graphire4 has like what.. 512? and it's still more than adequate for sculpting and texture painting.sure, higher levels mean smoother pressure gradient, less jaggyness but yeah, 2048 should do just fine even for really detailed painting.but the biggest annoyance isn't this but rather that you 80% just pay for the brand name and maybe support (of which I never made use) and maybe driver support. lots of alternatives on the market now.
>>690669>$1700>sweet spotI could literally build a god-tier gaming rig for less than this and still just use my Bamboo. It does the job just fine.
>>690828>god-tier gaming rigSo much for the industry professionals of this board.
>>690669are they still advertising with more pressure levels? what they should be doing is fix the form factor and reduce the parallax, the Apple pen has 0 parallax and the Ipad works wireless as a tablet for a macbook. Cintiq's on the other hand have parallax, are bulky and need multiple cables to work.
>>690837The newest Cintiqs were the first to have zero parallax. Heck they invented the zero parallax screen. I'm sure these also have that, otherwise why bother?
>>690846Only the Cintiq pro's have zero Parallax these ones do. Having seen the pro in action tho I don't like the coating on it. I bet it would get annoying after a few hours. I think a more glassy surface is better but I can see why 2d artists would want more accuracy.
Shit resolution, shit color. Personally I think you are better off getting a quality monitor and sticking with a tablet.
>>690669The price is still stupidly inflated. You can get a 2018 iPad for $249+$99 for the pencil. And if you use a Mac you can use it as display tablet.Wtf is wacom bringing to the table other than their brand name now?
>>6909702018 iPad for $249+$99+$1000 for a Mac that can run 3D applications in a reasonable framerate.
does using a screen really help? i've been using my screenless huion tablet for a few years now and i can't tell if i really would benefit from the upgrade.
>>690971Can you whoosh harder? The point was the tech is comparable yet the price difference for the tablet is in excesses of $1000. And this is fucking Apple that's beating them in price. But even using that dumb example:Mac+Ipad+pencil is $1350.New Cintiq 22in without a pc is $1200, which leaves <$150 to buy a pc to beat the dumb example
>>690977I wouldn't invest in a wacom display for a first timer. The price is too high.Check out this guys reviews for budget screen tablets.http://brad.site/reviews/wacom-cintiq-alternatives.html#thirteenThey are not wacom quality, but the bill won't kill you if aren't sure you need it.
>>690971it works for windows too you fucking moron
>>690977Haven't used one in years but the old ones was very underwhelming. You gained better hand/eye cordination ofcourse but instead you got horrible input lag and since there's a few milimeters of space between where the tip of the pen hit's the glass and the actual pixels the experience is still nothing like the precision you'd have with say pen on actual physical paper.Esp since you couldn't move your hand at speed.I'm sure they've gotten way better now days but I wouldn't buy one without having tested it first since the older generation cintiqs got two thumbs down from me.
>>690992Or just use a hackintosh installation, or third party software that does the same thing, or a Galaxy Tab, etc. But yeah, the point is that Cintiqs are ridiculously overpriced.
>>690669>1080>Input refresh rate is still probably shit like 30hz so you'll get a lagging trailing effect when you make quick strokes with your pen.
>>690992Sidecar works only in Mac, moron.
>>691031There's a bunch of apps that let you us it on windows.Though they are all laggy, even the Mac version is too laggy.
>>691031fucking looser please quit this board and go kill yourself.
>>691204Screen is way too small to be usable.
>>690669>sweet spot between specs and price Where? In Hamburguerland? Because here in Banania they´re still priced as brand new cars.
>>691231What the hell is this!? God damn foreigners and their crazy large money numbers and monopoly colored money! They use huge numbers to make their money seem more valuable when it's not.
>>690829>industry professionals>/3/oh so you got jokes huh
>>691204Enjoy your lagfest and brain damage. For art it's completely unusable.
>>691231You chose communism now live with the consequences.
>>691457please ellaborate, i'm neck deep in art.save me with truth.
>>690829/v/ just isn't working as a containment board, they're totally ruined /g/
>>690669>>690828you can get the Lenovo yoga 730 with a GTX 1050 and the Active pen 2 which is a wacom pen with 4000 levels of sensitivity and has 2 buttons for less money. Cintiqs are a fucking joke.
>>691512https://youtu.be/hldhNTeLSeY?t=211
>>691677Can that be used with PCs just like a Cintiq?
>>691724Yes, if you want to wait a minute until your stroke actually appears on the screen.
>>691653But the cintiq 16 which is the equivalent is cheaper than that? This thread is about the cintiq 22.
>>691741the equivalent of the yoga would be the mobile studio pro 16. which with the same specs costs 3000 dollars.
>>691880Nobody is talking about mobile computers. This thread is about the regular cintiq. Wacom is not a computer technology company of course they cant get the same economies of scale as Lenovo. They make a specialist product for a select audience.
>>690669>matte screen instead of laminate>no express keys>1200 burger bucksPretty ridiculous for a "budget" piece. If budget is your main concern then go for XP-Pen or Huion. At least you get a laminate screen with better color gamut + express keys.If you've got a hard on for Wacom then save up for their Pro series. The new Cintiq "budget" line is largely a response to Huion/Xp-Pen offerings, and somehow they've managed to offer much less than they do and demand that you pay much much more. Skip it.
>mobile computers
>>690669>1080p>8192 pressure levelsI would legitimately prefer 2k and 1024 pressure levels over this nonsense. Also, the price is still ridiculous.
>>691959>>laminateIt's no great shakes. All it does is put a sparkle effect like you are in a magical girl anime over everything. I tried the pro when they had this try it for 30 days thing. The default matcap gray in zbrush was fucking unbearable to look at for more than 20 minutes. I actually might check this one out as the coating is supposed to be way less aggressive. It also had this jet engine sound after you used it for an hour too.
>>691979I'm referring to a laminate bonding as in less parallax. Wacom's new budget cintiq line is still using the older matte method. More parallax. An obvious "bump the price up on brand name alone" since competitors are switching to laminate bonding and still providing express keys while charging hundreds of dollars less than Wacom.
>>691981So do you have one of these competitors and do they have the same noise on white texture.
>>691983see>>690985
>>691983If it's matte it has the noise. Be aware the matte is a trade off between drawing feel and control vs visual clarity. Some people can't stand the look, but the feel is utterly superior to glass friction.Honestly, I'd take matte any day. I can have a color accurate main monitor and a decent enough display tablet for work for well under any cintiq.
>>690985I would, I started off as shit and became good. I have several tablets. If you buy a cintiq from the start, then you won't need to buy anything else....if breaks that is.
>>690669>1080pTrash
Have an older 21ux I got off ebay for $200.21ux was "scratched" so I just peeled off the coating. Photodon screen protector is $50.$250 for a pro cintiq 1600*1200 with good color accuracy. looks and runs mint. Ergotron arm has no issues supporting it.
