What did Black Panther director Ryan Coogler mean by this?
>>
What's the issue here?
>>
>>689574
Well my friend.
This scene is notoriously known for its poor CGI. I wonder at the choice of using 2 assets that for the most part are exactly the same, yet one is so much more detailed.
For the information of the reader, the more detailed one is not even the main character.

a thread died for this!

/3/ is stupid at times. Who says this is the final subdivision level? Could be 10 times that at render time for the asset on the left.
>>
>>689593
this. you have to be insane to think render configuration is equal to the viewport.

*tesselation
nobody is that dumb or have enough money to subdivide that much before render

Why aren't they uniform? It doesn't make sense

Same shit you asshole

model/vertex count is rarely the problem in bad CGI

and also the cinematography is atrocious... the camera movements are straight out of a 2002 playstation cutscene and the dark-characters-on-dark-background setup reads terribly
>>

BS
>>
>>689823
why?

Cut the vfx team some slack. The director and producers changed their minds the last minute and gave the team 6 weeks to complete the entire fight scene.

He's clearly shitting on the director.

I actually just read about this. Long story short

>Higher ups paid for X minutes of video
>Team produces X minutes of video
>Higher ups don't like it
>X minutes of video is already paid for and has to be redone for free
>Team has no choice but to operate on funding leftover from previous work.

It's more complex than this, but thats the gist of it.

That scene is absolute shite, I really don't see where all the CGI money is going when they speak of costs. Basic fight scene, basic skin tight outfits.. very dark scene... I mean get your fucking shit together there is no excuse at all.

You make it sound so simple. Please. Create a better scene for us, for free.
>>
>>690522
Wow, that's steppy as fuck.
>>
>>689838
It took a team 6 weeks to deliver this garbage.
Keep in mind, what makes this scene absolutely terrible is the camera work and lighting/shading. Those are artistic decisions, taken long before and easily changed if desired.

>>690527
Oh really for free? What nice terms. Hand over the scene, tweaking lighting and applying basic camera work should suffice. Gimme an hour.
>>
>>690528
The gif is nothing, watch the actual catastrophe.

it's 75% camera I would say, and shitty shaders
>>
>>690530
I saw the movie and remember it looking bad, but not *that* bad. Is this a previz or what?
>>
>>690533
I hope it is, but I honestly can't say. Haven't seen the movie. But this is truly horrible work.

You get what you pay for. Also, deadlines kill creative energy. Been there, done that.

that's not how things fucking work
>>
>>690534
the movie is great desu, but the last fight scene's low quality is baffling
>>
>>690580
Consider the possibility of reverse image searches. If something is easy to find that way, then it's definitely porn.
>>
>>689571
I wish I could deliver even something near that level, but that's probably the wrong though process since movies are group affords and you're just a small cog in the machine.

I'd probably die from old age before I finish something like this on my own.

because the behind guy cloth has more solid details? and more edgeloop to accomodate it. look closer
