hobbyist here. what are these dotted black lines and what do they do?
They tell you to ask in the all purpose blender help thread next time rather than waste space making a new one.
They are relationship lines. They show the object they are parented to.
>>685832Dude get in 2.8 already. Those dotted lines are a bug that happens from scaling then moving stuff in object mode after importing but before running the script.Should be done in edit mode always if you don't use a script.
That's the light direction.
>>685902Or he could use a good program instead of blendshit
>>685921There's no reason to switch away from Blender if he doesn't need any modern technology.
>>685832These objects that are connected with these dotted black lines....they are gay.
>>685902Not op, but i been trying to change to 2.8 and the changes are fucking my workflow up, im still struggling with groups and i cant fucking manage to show uvs in the viewport. Its like learning the egine all over gain, i simpli dont understand why do they take features away.
>>686034There is absolutely nothing and no one stopping you from using 2.79 if you find the changes are fucking up your workflow. 2.8 is still in Beta. Beta is not final. Beta still has bugs, crashes, and kinks to be worked out. Thus, why it's in BetaIt is like learning the engine again because they made it so everyone can understand it, unlike most of the shitty UI of previous versions. There's also a section in 2.8 in the keymap preferences that allows you to change the spacebar to search. So if you get lost or can't find a certain tool, just look it up.2.8 also recognizes that a lot of users from previous versions have been accustomed to old keyboard shortcuts and allows you change those settings to 2.79. I had 2.79 on my computer forever. I downloaded over 100+ gigs of tutorials, only to never open a single one because of how intimidating it looked and how much I was expected to memorize (my memory is already shit) But when i downloaded 2.8 i didn't really feel the same way. I followed some old tuts and actually understood them. I just fuck around in 2.8 and I'm having way more fun than I would have ever thought.
>>686041>There is absolutely nothing and no one stopping you from using 2.79And nobody say so, i was answering to the anon saying "get into 2.8 already" and the reason i did was because transitioning to 2.8 is not as easy as it SHOULD be.>2.8 also recognizes that a lot of users from previous versions have been accustomed to old keyboard shortcuts and allows you change those settings to 2.79. Yeah thats why i didint say anything about hotkeys...This is why people in this board cant have discussions on blender, you fags just dismiss any criticism about the software with bullshit like this post.
>>686045Just because you're having a hard time transitioning doesn't mean others are. 2.8 is way easier to grasp than any other version. No need to get butthurt, 4chan is a shitty internet forum anyway. Do you really and honestly think you're learning anything from here? If you want real discussion, go to reddit or the actual blender forums. Not this alt-right chink website
>>686047>buthurtYou are the one getting salty about your shitty modeling software. Enjoy your dead thread.
>>686048thank you, immensely, for proving my point :)
