So I was just told that daz3d CEO Jim is in hot shit with the owner and other investors.I guess they are looking to off load as soon as possible and cash out. They want a big fish to bite but want out of the situation fast. This is where things get interesting. Talking with some people at hivewire it turns out that hivewire has traveled out to Israel and has had a lot of calls back and forth. What does this mean? Hivewire might get daz or they are trying to present themselves to purchase daz. Is this a good thing? Will this hurt or help the community?
Does anyone else have more to this or other perspectives?
Maybe Autodesk will buy them and cease development, finally ending the curse this software has brought upon us.
>>681076Imagine a world without DAZ
Daz is more or less a miracle comes true. A beginner-friendly waifu posing sex software with a very large community and an enormous library, most of which can be pirated. It is literally too good to be true. The Jews will most likely paywall it and paywall it again, and double paywall the community. That's what Jews do. That and there will be a lot more of black characters in the Store, also sexual poses between black men and white women. That's also what Jews cannot prevent themselves to do. The fall of the white race, money, and destroying everything good in the world.
>>681098> paywall it and paywall it againThat's been tried wigh cc3 and proven it doesn't work.
>>681094>>681096People are still using ancient versions of poser for their dollies so I doubt it.
>>681096>Imagine a world without DAZPorn artists would continue to do their thing, and low-effort pervs would go back to their usual harassing, stalking, and raping.
Fair enough reason to keep a backup copy of those install manager downloaded items.
>>681126>more like autists I still can't imagine you guys applying for a regular 3D job ever again. Do you show your portfolio full of porn to possible employers?

Adobe will hostile takeover of Blender once it becomes truly better than Maya and Max (very soon).Autodesk are shitting their pants as we speak
So is there a way to force the Daz Studio software to be always online? That's about the only thing that could ruin it at this point. The community and the library is too big at this point for the people to give up on it.

>>681221I meant that potentially, in the future. When DRM and copy-right happy kikes buy it out and they'll attempt to crack down on literally every single person using at least one illegally obtained asset. Or (((collect data))) for better performance and future products. I'd never in a million years would willingly go online with it as it is right now, but they might force users to constantly communicate with a server of theirs to (((protect the artists))).
>>681238Most professional software is always online and most won't even start without an internet connection (Marvelous Designer for example). If you don't like this development, don't fucking support those and use software that runs fine without a connection.Same with the subscription meme that is getting out of hand and is even planned for fucking Windoze.

>>681076>I guess they are looking to off load as soon as possible and cash out. They want a big fish to bite but want out of the situation fast.DS is by design a loss leader meant to contain users to the content store which at this point is largely AP-driven. Every 18-36 months there's a new Genesis figure which is consistent with expected earnings spikes. >This is where things get interesting. Talking with some people at hivewire it turns out that hivewire has traveled out to Israel and has had a lot of calls back and forth.HW is a tiny company owned and operated by Chris, the very person the Israeli VC firms replaced Dan to have fired -- and the first time they tried to bring him back into the fold suddenly he had to be fired again. This is the person you're trying to pretend could sweet-talk those VC people. The only thing DS has to do is render porn better than Poser out of the box and that's a pretty low bar. If Nvidia/Iray development tanks all they have to do is buy a different PBR that's friendly with ATI while still capable of using or converting Iray shaders. At least put some effort into concocting bullshit OP, not everyone here is twelve like you.
>>681244>different PBR that's friendly with ATI while still capable of using or converting Iray shaders.doesn't exist AFAIKAnd developing it will be time consuming and costly
>>681246>developing a renderer instead of buying one>DAZpick one
Ought to just make an "official" paid plugin/addon for Blender to read/write all daz types and libraries. One of the free plugins already works pretty well.
>>681250>all DAZ typesCurrently no one wants to write a JS to Python converter. Lots of Python to JS converters and transpilers but not the other way around. Two products for converting Iray to the simpler 3Delight but few if any PBR to PBR converters. No idea whether Blender can implement JCMs or not but most DS figures depend heavily on them. Anything is *possible* but the man-hours necessary to create a plugin for users who by definition prefer not paying for software might not have a good RoI on it. Also all HD morphs and dse script files are encrypted meaning you couldn't sell it in the US without a license from DAZ if the plugin decrypted those assets.

>>681594No, the install process of older builds doesn't require an online connection. People can just keep using the old versions. A lot of newer assets require newer releases.>>681602Yes, every lewd render should take 100 hours each to set up. Delusional elitist cunt.
>>681076Daz has literally half-assed everything they've ever done. They bought a lot of software and then supported none of it. They should have been focusing all their efforts on making Studio and Hexagon viable products but they went "meh, good enough".Hexagon was probably one of the best vertex modellers when it came out and had Daz kept its features industry current they'd actually have a commercially viable piece of software. Instead they let it languish for years hoping people would pay $100 for it.... $75... okay $50.... alright how about $20.... okay it's FREE.They literally left money lying on the floor with that program. Then there's Studio. The only reason Poser hasn't eaten its lunch is because Studio is free. But all Studio is to Daz is a delivery mechanism for Daz content. But Daz fucks over its content creators and Daz Studio is so fucking lacking in animation functionality that it's pretty much just a beginners software package and once they learn the basics on Daz they just move on to better software. Daz studio has mediocre FBX and DAE export capabilities and almost no fucking FBX and DAE import capabilities (yeah it will import geometry but the rigging will be fucked all to hell so why bother). Then the CEO decided to try and push Daz content as an alternative to the Unity Asset store but that was never going to fly because there's so much fiddle fucking going on with getting the content to work because most of it is using a weightmap system that is good for high quality still and animated renders but is too heavy for use in games so that all has to be converted. They should have just dumped Carrara as a dead end, taken what they could of Bryce's terrain generation and folded it into Studio and worked on keeping Studio and Hexagon cutting edge. But nope. They chased a game dev asset pipe dream and let their core software languish.
>>681696And gods help you if you try to point out their shortcomings to them on their forums because their forum moderators are the most anal retentive, nazi goosestepping, Kool-aid guzzling sycophants you've ever seen. They will not tolerate anyone saying anything even slightly negative about Daz on their forums.
>>681696>The only reason Poser hasn't eaten its lunch is because Studio is freeNope, the main reason is Genesis 2-8. I'm not sure if the Poser programmers are to incompetent to get later Genesis into Poser (DSOn for Gen1 was already a fuckup) or if DAZ is blocking their efforts on copyright grounds. Anyway, not that Poser is so much better than DAZ Studio but at least they are still getting Service packs out more frequently than once a year.
>>681076Talk with someone at hivewire. They want daz but arent willing to pay/buy out the VC. On one of the calls the VC said that they would stay on as a silent partner but take a cut until they are completely bought out.Talking with someone at daz it sounds like another round of layoffs coming this year unless something big happens... some top level people might get let go.

>>681311From what I understood...Morph3D was created because at the time they (Daz) were working with Mixamo to set Daz and Daz content up to be the next Unity asset store, however Adobe popped in and bought out Mixamo and shut down that lil 'deal' and without the big mixamo tie-in there really was little chance for Daz to go against Unity asset store as org planed.
>>681696At the end of the day though, Daz only needs to focus on hosting / selling 3rd party content, what many fail to realize is these f**** literally print money over there...They make little to nothing themselves, and yet take in 50% (or more in some cases) per sale from their store, they sub contract out to their vendors to create their 'core models' pay them lump sums and release them every few months and rake in huge sales...As for Poser, Poser's biggest issue always was and always will be the lack of CONTENT, Poser (owners) have always been SOFTWARE not content, and Poser total mismanagement is the only reason Daz is even a thing now, for those 'new' Daz used to be Zygot which created the bulk of the content that came with Poser (other stuff literally came from old school vendors and whatnot) there was a falling out and Zygot left Poser, formed Daz and created the software AND focused on what Poser always lacked... Content
>>681244Hive is and always will be a joke, they are a 2 person company really, 1 (Chris) one of the org members of Zygot / Daz and 2 (Lisa) a vendor who makes decent plants, trees and whatnot. The rest of their "staff" (QA, forum mods etc) work from home in diff parts of the world, but end of the day everything is done via Chris and Lisa. The ONLY reason they grew at ALL was they lucked out when Daz bought out RDNA and a good half of the poser users there wanted a new home, Poser made them (for a bit) their 'official forums' and Hive picked up the homeless from RDNA.However with that all being said, they have sense doubled down on their in house horrid figures Dawn (female linebacker) and Dusk (am I a man or a woman) and they are actually refusing Daz figures / add on's to be sold in their store because "we only want our own products sold moving forward"Meanwhile Poser moved their partnership over to Renderosity which now holds their old content store and new forums.IF OP used ANY OTHER name then Hive their post MIGHT have been a bit more believable (just a bit though)
>>682199>>682204THat's a really good summary. Should add that to the OG pastebin for /daz/ general threads.
>>682187>Strand-Based Hairso, it's the same crappy hair system Poser has since version 5 or so?
>>682204Dawn always looked like Gina Davis to me.
>>682199I thought Zygot didn't create fuck all in terms of software and just bought other lesser known 3D software from failing companies and then rebranded it as Daz software. Studio, Hexagon, Bryce, and Cararra all have pre-Zygot/Daz origins.
>>682145That floor texture is terrible.
>>682278as well as I can remember the org Zygot crew all cuts ties with Poser and created Daz Studio, pretty sure none of the parties involved actually made made the software outside of giving a 'wish list' to the hired programmers.Over the years after they did (tried) what Smith Micro does and buy dead software and sell it under their name, but as none of them are programmers and they don't really spend money outside of buying ads those titles never got the updates or love they needed to thrive.AFAIK right now the BULK of the actual Staff at Daz are VC's and or board members, (and when I say STAFF I don't mean forum mods, those are mostly 'remote workers' But crappy rumors like this (Daz is going under, loosing money, looking to sell ASAP) have been running for YEARS and nothing has happened yet, and as I said earlier they literally print money over there, next to no overhead, content is created by 3rd parties that they make half or more per sale. The BIGGEST joke I hear is "They are loosing money THAT is why they run so many sales, and sell stuff so cheap"In reality they could price products LOWER and still make profit cause they don't make them, they just host the images and downloads and make half or more per sale, it's the vendors that get screwed, BUT Daz is the biggest market so they deal with it.
>>682204>>682287Daz prints money? Sure that's why they had layoffs.Daz isn't going under? That's why morphs project manager and programmer saw the how money is printed and jumped ship. That's why other managers and employees are dropping their resumes.Hive is a joke? Why because they have remote employees like daz does but doesnt have a bloated ego and need an office? Hive is a joke because they save money to pass savings onto creator's and customers. Please go ahead and tell us more about how daz steals from creators and jacks up the price for customers as they bad mouth the creator of their fucking company. Jesus, how fucking retarded can you be? Daz has done little to nothing new after Chris left. I think it would be a good thing if hive took over daz that way daz would actually do something with the money being printed.
>>6823501: YES Daz prints money, as it has little to no overhead, and 90% of the content sold is created by 3rd parties, they host the products and collect money every sale.Layoffs don't just happen when a company is failing, MANY TIMES (and esp) in online biz, layoffs happen when the higher ups realize they do NOT need a bunch of people and or a company could literally be ran on autopilot. (I've seen it happen time and time again with online companies these past 20+ years) and truth be told, you REALLY don't need many people to run an online marketplaceIf by 'morphs' you mean Daz's failed crack at the Unity market, I explained that yesterday as to why that failed, (Adobe and Mixamo)2: YES hive is 100% WHY?:Their catalog in 2019 still looks like products from the 90's, They have NO idea how to handle releases, so many times the main page could be FILLED with just 1-2 vendors products (which then pushes everything else off the main page)(Other marketplaces have hard limits on how many products a vendor can have released in an X day period)Instead of accepting products that WILL sell today they double down and keep pushing their tired (and down right ugly) base characters and As for them 'passing savings to creators' YOU are truly speaking out of your ass...why?Because Hive features one of the most back asswards backends of ANY 3D marketplace I have ever dealt with, they run a points / coupon system that the creator gets stuck with loosing money (other stores SPLIT that with the creator but not Hive) I've had products where my cut is just over $2.00 while Hive's cut was closer to $5.00 AND it was a 50/50 split but cause of points uses and coupons used I as the creator lost money but they did not.Not too mention Hive has lost and or screwed up ever damn "deal" they've had between Daz, Poser, and most recently their 'exclusive' deal with Renderosity that lasted..... few months before that too went tits up J.O.K.E.
>>682363Get a load of this jew. Layoffs are a good thing for companies to do. Everyone involved with morph quits... normal everyday business. It sounds like you have plenty of experience pulling things out of your ass... pull that daz dildo out of yours.
>>682368lol never said layoffs were good, I said they don't always mean a company is doing bad. ESP in the online space.Everyone involved in a failed software quits... yeah sounds about right.Daz Dildo... sorry, I'm NOT a fan of Daz, never have been and never will be. but even though I don't like them, doesn't change the fact that the biz model they run on (do little to nothing, take cuts from 3rd party sales) is highly profitable with very little overhead. in fact ALL marketplaces do the same damn thing, and most run on the barest of staff because more is just not needed.

>>681076I'll be talking with a daz employee later today but here is the info from Hive.Hive employee: Daz3d has taken their most valuable asset and let it crumble in missed update, missed features and missed growth. The only value the company has is in sales. The amount of work and money it would take to fix the damage done due to miss management is not worth it unless the price is right and certain people stay on.The idea has been past back and forth to open studio to the public to help with the updates but that also brings problems. There are a lot of options and sadly Chris has had to watch his past work suffer. Hopefully something positive comes from these talks but Hive can only do so much. Hives first goal as a business is to help the community.
>>682554Sorry, it missed part of the past. Hives first goal as a business is to help the community. If that is to take on and rebuild Daz3d, Hive is ready to do that. If it is to take parts of Daz to strengthen Hive and grow the community Hive is ready for the challenge. (Part of the talks is to break up and sell different parts of Daz to the highest bidder). Hive is here to stay and here to grow with the community.
>>682554Sounds a LOT like the exact same drivel that's been floating around for 3-4 years now from various 'staff' I personally have been told 2 diff stories from them years ago. Please though continue with your story of make believe, I'd LOVE to hear more on how 2 people who can't even keep their own site up / manage their day to days are going to 'save' Daz or are even 'ready for the challenge'I NEVER thought I would see the day where I saw a shill for Hive of all places lol... With the exception of one PA who said "business as usual but to expect changes. That Jim got chewed out and certain people are not happy." Asking a few more questions "Daz management sounds shaken and doesn't know what to do to fix the the major problems."I'll drop an update when the Daz employee gets home. Should be in 30min to 1hr
>>682630The plot thickens!
>>682630>>682630From the Daz employee: As Morph3d was tanking the investors got antsy. Jim tried but failed to show that Morph3d could still work. This is when one of Daz3d's old managers bailed them out with a nvidia hookup. Things looked better for Daz3d but due to poor management and what Jim promised with nvidia and delivered the investors are looking to get out and away from the situation.Daz employee: No company would ever buy Daz3d. Daz3d looks great at a glance but when you get into the books and how things are setup and ran any company would walk away. As company's have walked away in the past. Daz employee: Daz3d cant keep up with the competition because they let go of all but two of their engineers and programmers for studio. Studio will be lucky to meet any deadline and will be phased out by the competition soon.Daz employee: The major problem is management. Jim needs to be fired. Matt should be made CEO. Steve should stay. Jon should be reined in or fired. But mostly we need engineers and programmers.Daz employee: No I dont think it would be a bad think if Hivewire took over. I think a few people would quit but overall I do think things would get better. But I don't think Hivewire would or could buy Daz3d.

Ok, so I was able to get some information out from Hivewire. Daz3d is still silent.Hivewire has been looking at what the best way to takeover/run Daz3d with the little to no negative effects on the community. So what Hivewire has been doing is talking with former and current Daz3d employees. >>684415>With and without, they are nothing.this superiority complex of Blunder-tards is ridiculous
>>684605I'm not saying Blender is superior to DAZ, but I'm pretty certain DAZ is inferior to Blender.
>>684634They both have their use.
>>684715blender is for modelling ( table, chair, blade, gun, dick, boob )daz is for composition
>>684816>daz is for compositionNo. DAZ is for keeping the special kids content until the time of the rope has arrived.
>>684818>No. DAZ is for keeping the special kids content until the time of the rope has arrived.don't be sad
>>684942the first daz pic in forever that wasnt autistic or disgusting or sponsored by the united federation of planets. nice.
>>684970>wasnt autistic or disgustingwait a sec
>>684816>daz is for compositionLiterally what features does Daz have for that that Blender doesn't
Hey any news about the merger DAZ anon ?
makehuman is buying them out
>>685608Sorry, nothing solid. From what I've been told Jim is on his last leg and things dont look good for him. It looks like layoffs and change in management at daz by years end.Hivewire isn't sounding to optimistic about the offer to buy. Really it comes down to price and that's why Squid pulled out. Daz is not worth what they are asking for. If Daz folds Squid will corner the online shop market and Hive will rebuild studio or a form of studio. However, it's been very very quiet lately.
>>685841The biggest tell is the sales lately, little to no theme and most items seem like they are just an overstock of PC+ freebies they have been sitting on but are now charging for.
testingggggg this tripcode cause i screwed up
>>685851but they updated Studio recently (wether this strand based hair system is really useful is another question). So is Rob Whisenant (or so) the last programmer at DAZ?
>>686000They did less work than you'd think since the hair system is just them buying out the Garibaldi plugin.
>>686000I believe Rob Whisenant will be the next to go or will be in the next round of layoffs. From what I've heard he has barked at Jim, Matt, and other management when they try shutting on him and the others.
>>685662Anything but adobe.
>>681113I'm still using daz 4.6 and my dollies are all victoria 4's.
>>687201It looks like all negotiations have stalled
>>687465Could that mean that the fall of Daz is closer?
Seems the only software that got sold is Poser
>>688580again? to whom?
>>688594renderosity now owns poser
I'm beginning to suspect that 'DAZ anon' was bullshitting us about the whole merger deal and 'inside DAZ' crap
>>691223it be like that sometimes
>>691223probably poserfags still mad that poser is shit
>>691223>Daz finally releases an IK rig in their beta.Yeah you may just be right.
I won´t give details, but I can confirm it was indeed 100% all made up nonsense.Just a bitter and/or a VERY confused Poser troll. In any case, yeah, Poser is the one that was getting sold.... to Renderosity no less XD.
>>691886>talking about past events in the future tensewhat did he meme by this?
