Holy shit I honestly thought those 'leaks' before were just a joke

West just can't into anime, that's why they look so bad. Western artists don't understand anime and how anime characters should look or move.
The Pikachu movements, with all those weird faces that Dreamworks characters always do don't fit with his clearly japanese design.

And Alita is just this but in 3D.
>>
>>679753
It looks so narmy. I think I'm in love. It looks so bad and retarded, the charm is plucking my eyeballs out. I love it.

>>679762
I saw Alita in IMAX 3D and its actually the best (western) Anime adaption that exist.
I didn't expect to like that movie that much but since i was invited into the cinema i went anyways and was pleasantly surprised.
Its not a great movie (just good), it has some serious flaws, but the look of Alita wasn't one of them. She looked great in nearly every single shot with a slight detour into uncanny valley in a couple of scenes. Besides that, the movie is absolutely gorgeous and the VFX are really top notch. I haven't seen such a good integration of VFX into live action since Mad Max and the action was similarly spectacular and beautifully choreographed, framed and edited.
I didn't know Rodriguez had it still in him, but its easily his best movie since Sin City.

3DCG is the wet dream of the movie industry that became reality.
They can save money by not having to have every role played by some actual actor and they don't have to do expensive drawing for each frame like in the cartoon days.
Designing and getting the initial 3D models done is a bit of work but everything down the pipeline from there can be outsourced to the cheapest labor places.
3DCG also enables fuck cheap sequels because then they don't even have to make the models from scratch and can just start cranking out shit without any limit. It's literally printing money for them.

So basically like 99,9% of all movies?
Is this supposed to be an argument against Maya and Nuke?
If yes, then it makes you look stupid.
>>
>>679838
Not the OP you're replying too but with the consistent shitposting on this board about the hate towards blender, I would say that this is a fair mockery of the argument on this board. Even a multi-million dollar movie with triple A software backing it, can still turn to shit.

I reminds me of the whole argument of it's not what you say, it's how you say it... It's not the tools you use, it's the artist behind said tools.

In all seriousness.. don't they have a fucking concept team to play out with proportions and overall character design before giving that shit to their 3D team? And the CGI supervisors don't attempt to make it better at all? It's hard to believe they have dozens of rounds of critical reviews before moving forward with such a disaster....

Sonic looks like a teen in a shit costume, straight out of a low-budget pajeet fan project.

Hollywood, if you insist on shoving a million remakes/reboots/adaptations down our throats, at least make your garbage visually pleasing... it's just as costly to animate a good looking character as a bad one; there's no reason to try to get away with the most embarrassing bare minimum.

Hear me out but i'm pretty sure this movie is supposed to be bad. Taking a beloved character that everyone knows and loves and making it look like shit will get everyone to talk about it and get a lot of coverage on how it looks like shit. A lot of people are already talking about it and a lot of people are going to see it since it'll be like watching a trainwreck. Don't tell me this movie isn't going to make money because it is, Despite the 1 star rating it will get this movie is going to be financially successful

i hope they don't change it too much.
it looks so bad, i love it.
>>
>>680167
i guess they won't, the movie releases this year... changes too drastic to the design = modifying the rig = redoing animation

though I guess they could just focus on the face and reanimate the eyes and mouth, it could fix a lot imo
>>
>>680161

so theyre just going to redo the whole fucking thing? how could you even change things this late in the game?
>>
>>680174
It's still half a year away. They can keep most of the animation and just apply it to the new character model. Of course not everything, but a lot.
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if they planned this all along for more media attention.
>>
>>680174
I really hate to say it but they might of had this planned all along. i know of some studio heads and marketing departments that drool over campaigns like this.

I'm not that anon, but I have to ask, are you just pretending to be stupid? This is literally a marketing strategy taught in business school and gets used everywhere all the time. I learned about dozens of hollywood cases of this in my first semester.

You're probably some overweight NEET with only a few patches of hair left at the age of 21 who is just bitter at life because he'll never get laid and is too ugly and introverted to find work or be included in society. Get fucked kiddo.
>>
>>680511
>I learned about dozens of hollywood cases of this in my first semester.
Can you mention some? I'm genuinely interested in learning about their strategies.
>>
>>680512
The biggest and most successful film my professor showed the class as an example of this was Forest Gump, but in that case the negative feedback came from the producers because when they screened it to critics and investors before the public even knew it existed, it got flamed really hard for its "controversial" themes, but the studio had already known ahead of time that this might be the case, and so they filmed variations of some of the edgier scenes with different dialogue. The movie barely got made in fact, because even after massive changes to the script at nearly the very end of the pipe, producers still weren't happy with it and just had to bite the bullet. Luckily it panned out for them pretty well and now it's like a legendary film.

With this Sonic film, it's obviously even more overt since they are pandering to the public. Back when films like Forest Gump were made, things like twitter and facebook didn't exist. Social media wasn't a thing, so you couldn't get away with this sort of tactic back then. Now it's a lot more common, and most studios have "fallbacks" to scenes or aspects of a film that they expect to generate controversy.
>>
>>680515
>>680511
lmao look at this dumbass. He thinks there's a conspiracy involving hundreds, possibly thousands of people, none of which would come forward anonymously in the age of the internet to reveal it. This is almost comedic

>marketing strategies and modern business tactics are a conspiracy
lmao look at this dumbass. He thinks hundreds, possibly thousands of people would be aware of or even care about what management thinks or does with their assets as long as they get paid and a spot in the credits so they can move on to the next project.
>>
It's just hollywood being obsessed with the pixar eye look, easier to animate too. Lets throw procedural hair all over it and just change the color in places rather than change grain. It's honestly all just down to laziness.
