They both suck, just in different ways.

At least Blender changed it a bit with the latest update.

Zbrush.. for the better and the worst
It's UI and some of the workflow is retarded, but it remains an amazing and all powerful tool in all accounts. It's just pain in the ass to learn..
>>
>>678369
nah, 3dsmax is probably the most straightforward of all the main 3D softs desu
Maya may be a bit more organized, but Max is quite intuitive
>>
>>678371
this. It's really powerful but the UI is unforgivable dogshit

Weekly notice that only subhuman morons dismiss the importance of a good UI because of a program's feature set.
>>
>>678431
what even is this damned atrocity?
>>
>>678441
Garbage. The editing programs for it also have terrible ui.
>>
>>678431
but mmd is actually fucking terrible, not just the ui but the animation program itself. it interpolates frame by frame on a weird ass box on the bottom left when literally any 3d software package including blender have it on a graph, the rest is just fucking awful to set up for animation, not to mention posing the fucking model.
>>
>>678441
Japanese software folded over 9000 times.

you wouldn't believe how popular this actually is. Japanese people never fail to amaze me, but more often than not it's not in a good way.
>>
>>678352
this pic is a little dishonest. unless you are messing with materials and shit, most of the time that left tray will be collapsed. the custom menus list area isnt there unless you make it that way, the standard menus arent in 2 rows unless you are on a tiny resolution monitor

it looks like this screencap image was taken off a 720p 13.5" laptop display. the ui on a 1080p or better monitor at 20"+ has far more breathing room.

also, most people tend to assign a majority of frequently used functions to a quick menu which can be brought up at mouse position with a keybound button press, which then functions similarly to something like maya's quick menus in that it allows you to access a variety of features and options very quickly without digging through menues for them
>>
>>678574
The screenshot is Zbrush 3.1 which dates it to around 2007.

How dare you reveal the way to make ZBrush's UI comfortable and efficient?!

Dude imo zbrush is amazing, it's daunting at first but after a couple years of using it i've become lighting fast at it. it all comes down to how you set up your ui, and really it's not as hard as people make it out to be, but people just don't even want to try nowadays man.
Also the new Zremesher is so fucking amazing.
>>678429
Also no, it's actually quite versatile, you can pretty much organize it in whichever way you want and it never feels clunky. you just gotta find what works for you.

It is impossible to create a good interface in ZBrush, even the language and terminology is fucking retarded

You can choose your workflow, what are you talking about exactly?
>>
>>678584
Did you buy it or pirate, I need to find a pirate copy of 2019.
>>
>>679222
Mostly the way it forces you to do stuff, aka not being able to do some things on some subdiv levels while it could switch them automatically, or how it handles textures import/export/overlay, how the layer system forces you to work destructively if you want to do certain operations after your changes, how the subtools generally work, no cameras at all, crucial stuff that has do be done through plugins, etc. By workflow, I meant whatever is retarded in how you're forced to achieve things.

>>678352
I hate the UI with a burning passion, but at the same time, it kind of has a "comfy" feel to it. Is this Stockholm?
>>
>>679489
You get used to anything.
If they changed it now, thousands of zbrush users would be rendered clueless by a new interface.
Assembling brushes and adding new toolbars is something that you need to be an advanced user to be able to do. I did it myself a few times, but i´m unable to to it again without following a detailed tutorial, step-by-step (everytime they do an upgrade of the program you need to reinstall it completely, and re-change the whole interface to be able to use it)
>>

i got it pretty cheap online.
>>
>>679223
I strongly suggest that you buy it.
The reason is simple: to force other 3D software companies like Autodesk to copy their business example.
When you purchase one version of Zbrush, you´re allowed to infinite updates, forever. You don´t subscribe or pay for an year... it´s yours and that´s that.
NO ONE should be allowed to pirate Zbrush - at least, NOT Zbrush. Pirate Maya, 3dsmax, Adobe. But BUY Zbrush. They need to learn how business work by going under and copying pixologic´s model to survive.

Lolnope not anymore Pixologic is going full Autodesk .
>>
>>680379
Is zbrushcore worth it?
>>
>>680408

Ya from 2020 onwards. It's stupid because it will segment the community. Tbh tho all zbrush needs now is a retopo system like 3d coat and proper uv functions.
>>
>>680427
Zbrush have retopology - is called Zremesher and even have it´s own control brushes.
The UV master only gives trouble with 'donut' topology sometimes - you can control density and the likelihood of seams by control painting the model - which Zremesher can do too.
If you´re going to complain about a software, at least pick a weakness - Zbrush is the best when it comes to retopology and UV mapping in my book.

Just because i was out defending their perpetual licensing model. Holy shit, those retards. I so fucking ashamed.

I dont know how you get any useable results from uv master. It never puts the seams where you want even after painting and polygroup uv islands never seem to work. Uv's were supposed to be updated this year but they pushed it back to 2020 so even they recognize it.
>>

just use maya 2019, it has the best uv tools by far. and it's free.

how does one get to be this fucking retarded
