Users with jobs
>>
Ask yourself, do you want a job?

If yes, don't bother learning blender

>But why?
It doesn't matter, do yourself a favor and don't get laughed out of the industry before you even get your foot in

I don't want a job, I only use 3D to make furry porn and I'd still rather learn fucking Softimage than Blender. 2.80 is nice but it's far from a miracle.

Wasn't the last build released like 5 years ago?

>Maya/Max/Cinema 4D/Houdini/SketchUp/Modo/Substance/Marmoset/ZBrush/Unreal/Nuke/V-Ray/Arnold

blender is done by dutch and international community with many russian programmers.

Maya/Max/Cinema 4D/Houdini/SketchUp/Modo/Substance/Marmoset/ZBrush/Unreal/Nuke/V-Ray/Arnold is made by Scientology and US defense department.

Nobody who is good enough with maya or max to work in the oh-so-precious industry posts here, because this board is utterly fucking wretched. The only people here are total beginners who want to be told what to do, the absolutely depressed looking to validate what little they're able to accomplish in life, the sexually desperate looking to get a quick tug, and the fucking site-migrant who wants epic up(yous) because that's what you do on le4channel. All of these demographics are are poor as dirt and looking for the path of least resistance, and that's why everyone uses cheap software like blender and houdini and UE.
>>
>>676641
if this place makes you so miserable why come here at all? honestly
>>
>>675829
I learned Maya first, other modeling software I can get into intuitively based only on my Maya knowledge. Blender however, is a mess.

you're wrong, anon
10+ years Max and Maya user with a full time job working with AAA companies here

i come here for the laughs, the cringe, and the occasional decent discussion

anonymity is amazing, the top lead AD of ILM could hang out on /3/ and you would still call him a talentless blendlet out of sheer spite
>>
>>676035
It's not THAT bad, but yeah Maya is powerful and it is the current standard for animation unless the company has proprietary software (which is probably designed around Maya familiarly)

You can still get hired if all you know is blender, but you will be working in the companies main software which will probably be Maya if you are animating.
>>
Realistically speaking is there any software encroaching on Maya's rigging and animation capabilities? Rigging especially has much room for improvement and could probably use its own dedicated software.
>>
>>676785
Plugins and proprietary in-house ones, sadly.
>>
>>676668
> he top lead AD of ILM could hang out on /3/ and you would still call him a talentless blendlet

Someone like that would never utter the sort of idiocy we hear from blendlets on a daily basis.

>>676785
There is no "encroaching" on Maya because the Maya paradigm is unique. The only way a piece of software could compete is if it had a complete rewrite of its rigging and animation system.
Blender has the "Animation 2020" project which is basically a node-based rigging rewrite. I doubt we will see it before 2021, but they have it planned at least.

Houdini is closest to Maya right now, and they have their sights on character animation. However they will also need a rewrite. I expect they will create a RIG context, but the earliest it could happen would be Houdini 19, since Houdini 18 will focus on LOPs.

>Someone like that would never utter the sort of idiocy we hear from blendlets on a daily basis.
why's that
it's all anonymous
nobody is going to out you on trolling
and trolling is fun
>>
>>676838
kek the amount of retarded comments on /3/ surely surpasses the troll ones though
but yeah, trolling is a art
>>
>>676839
my faith in humanity dictates that it's safe to assume that on dead board at least 90% of retarded comments are just attempts to fish (you)s
>>
>>676841
>faith in humanity
im afraid that's incompatible with 4chan (and most other social places on the internet..)
>>
>>676841
Why would people fish for (You)s? It's kinda retarded.

Wait a second... are you fishing right now?
>>
A decent method of setting up constraints and animation systems
