You are all so fucking pathetic I swear. Constantly bitching about material designed to teach newbies and echoing the same dead memes about donuts and shitting on industry level work you wish you could have been a part of.How about this. One of you, please humor me and post some actually good 3D work of YOUR OWN. I am not talking the usual WIP stuff, I want to see some production ready assets, animations, custom materials, python scripts. Let's see some fucking work. And with that work of yours, I would love to see at least one bit of positive advice for the newbies here based on your work.I wonder how many of you can actually do this. Willing to bet this thread will die like the last thread I made calling you faggots out for how pathetic you all are.
P.SThis is in no way directed at those who regularly post in WIP threads with your own work trying to improve or with good advice and feedback. You guys are fucking awesome! Keep learning and improving! Rise above the scum here that would rather see you fail.
>>672456>Dat chromatic Abberation
Your first time on this board? This is pretty much how it's always been here, as long as the thread OP so much as even hints at a "is x better than y?" you bet your ass /3/'s going to argue over it. It won't be the v/3/terans, we know not to fall for that shit anymore. It's the newfags and dumbasses that get roped into the ring. If you watch any of these arguments, you'll notice one trend: one side of the argument will be a lowercase poster. Is he right? Well, maybe, I can't really care enough to debunk his shit. All I know is that he's goddamn good at inciting responses. Steadfast in his arrogance, persistent in his stance, he'll respond to you with increasingly absurd points until you just give up. And there's not just one, both Team Blender and Team Maya have at least one lowercase poster of their own. (interestingly, i've never seen them argue with each other before) They won't ever post any work, but trust me, they've worked in the industry or have used this certain software for longer than you've even been alive! They're really the only reason why software wars threads bump so quickly and have such inane posts, otherwise honestly you'd see regular posters try and rationalise with each other and attempt to reach some consensus. The threads are fun to watch, I'll admit, I like them as a mainstay of /3/ sometimes. But goddamn do you not want to participate in one unless you want to risk your sanity.
I'm not posting my Python scripts here as I'm actually selling them and they're worth quite a bit of money.
>>672455Piss off, pretentious cunt. Nobody cares about what you think or want.
>>672493Apparently you do if you took the time to make a comment
>>672530Because you killed a thread with your garbage you stupid cunt
>>672535lmao I love the projection and let's be honest, there was no threads worth reviving at the bottom anyways
>>672465>interestingly, i've never seen them argue with each other beforethere is no point arguing with yourself
>>672465>This is pretty much how it's always been herebut that's wrong you absolute retard./3/ used to be way more lighthearted with much more cool stuff mixed in. over the last couple years everything went full retard. it doesn't help that there are also many who openly admit they come to /3/ just to shitpost because "it's 4chan" and then return to their "serious" reddit space./3/ was never really good but it had a ton more value back then and the shitposting wasn't just shallow low IQ shitting on each other. if you don't believe it you could even check archives from like a decade ago. it was way easier to encounter good posts.
for all the >NO, YOUR PROGRAM SUCKSand shitposting, /3/ is still better than what happened to /ic/. /ic/ went from pretty decent in 2013ish to full blown Crabs-in-a-bucket mentality and hostility.
>>672579I totally see we're heading just there here too
>>672578if you think about it its not really surprising dude, last two years are more like prequel before the storm, people become jaded, even if they don't get it, they smell huge crash incoming
>>672580We just need a mod of the /3/eople to ring in shit threads like this. Right now we've got no one, so no wonder everything has gone to shit.I'm not saying this place needs some strict ass motherfucker, but this place does need someone to give a light guiding hand sometimes to stop places like /Wip/ from devolving into a cesspool. It's the last bastion of decent /3/ culture (what little there is). Everything else outside the generals is horrible, and it's starting to creep into them as well.
>>672582/3/ always has good moments when people have something to do, a purpose. when you have more threads that get everyone really involved into something, /3/ usually shines. it's when everyone is totally aimless things turn sour quickly and you get nothing but really stupid posts made by frustrated and bored people. the board is still small enough to be turned into something good if a couple people keep making threads that makes others like to join and model stuff together, so yeah, the wip threads are great for example.
If you can't handle 4chan culture then leave. You've outgrown this place and there's nothing wrong with that, but hanging around and trying to change it is just pathetic.
>>672587>/3/ always has good moments when people have something to do, a purposeYeah there were a few projects like those collabs years ago which were pretty good. There was also that Unity game that even though it went nowhere did bring some good times. Also even though jannies killed off the threads, I did like the models for the cup when they were posted. That slow evolution of WIP-chan was the highlight.
>>672588>If you can't handle 4chan cultureoh you can fuck right off, faggot.anyone who thinks currently displayed level of retardation is 4chan culture most likely arrived here in 2015 or even later.in many cases it has always been pissing in an ocean of piss but there were many gems to be found. the actual "culture" was that everyone was nameless and out of this actual opinions were easily told and people felt it's easier for them to be honest, as paradox as it may sound. for example for posting your artwork, out of 10 posts, 4 were "ok" shitposts and 6 were actually constructive criticism, even while getting called a faggot. if you had a big name somewhere, you usually get your ass licked and that's it. also, the smaller and slower boards usually had a lot of great discussions actually. now it more and more just becomes an absolutely brainless shitfest of the textual equivalent of plugging your ears and lala-shouting while trying to rile others up with repeating buzzwords as reply.
>>672578Hyperbole, should have clarified better. I've watched this board closely for the better part of the past two-three years, I know what decline you're talking about. >>672590Honestly, been thinking of ways to get the board to do something together but any collabs I fear will just flop given /3/ user culture ("we're all busy with our own shit", "sure but what's the pay like" and similar etc.) nowadays. Was thinking of dumber board events as well, shit like a smaller /3/ intra-Chan Cup, but those run the risk of low participation given this board's size and regularity. >janniesI highly doubt we have any, if we do he sure does a very shit job. The 4CC threads were all killed by global mods, those threads aren't allowed outside of permitted boards (/asp/ and one other, don't remember).>WIP-chanDo you happen to have a nice screenshot of her? Only got a glimpse before the thread got axed. She'd be a good starting point to develop some real board culture again, if you ask me.
>>672600nigga, aint no one got time to read all that
>>672607It's okay sweetie. Just because you're too dumb and retarded doesn't mean we still don't love you.
>>672590Yeah I miss the collabs. I remember the last big ones were that one wallpaper that only got partway finished (pic related) and the game like you said. It's been a long while since then though, but I remember it being about space or being on mars or something. At least initially. I didn't really feel like I had the skills to really help with either back then. Now though I'd wish we did have something like that to bring the board together a bit. I remember the fun with the duk threads. Maybe starting small and doing something like a collage would be fun. Where we all "agree" on a piece to recreate as a whole, and we each do a different part on our own in our own style. Less of a serious project, and more something like they do on /v/ where they recreate game covers via grid sections.
>Constantly bitching about4chan, in general, does this all the time>stop being a hater, post ur work, your all so toxicanyone can say anything about everything. that's how it works. either all of it is okay or none of it is okay.>but everyone working to get gud is okay keep up good work :), also did you know that the sky is blue? Why the fuck did you even make this thread in the first place? Venting? We have a thread for that in /ic/, but I doubt you even care enough to lurk. I can't really say anything because I don't know what your fucking message is OP, even a shitty /v/ meme thread with a dumb ass wojak/pepe has more meaning than yours.I'm going to assume that you want this community to be 'productive' judging by your last post. No one is obligated to do things for you, people don't owe you shit. If you hate this community so much, then go to reddit or somewhere else.
I'm seeing 0 work posted in this thread. What a surprise.
>>672718We have the /wip/ thread for that.
>>672724OP specifically asked for finished pieces.
>>672724Everyone has something to say but no work to post.
>>672455Can't do, NDAs are in place.
>>672729Starting with OP herself.
>>672455> Be me, a furry> All your art is furshit> Post on social media> "OMG LURVE IT, SO AMAZING" > Furries have no taste, uncritical> My art isn't much to speak of, don't care about +likes> Very few furry CG artists, most of them are pricks> Try posting my art anywhere else> "GTFO, furry"> Never get good crit or helpful advice anywhere> Not interested in making normie art> tfw
>>672736It's almost as if people don't like animal fuckers.Who knew?
>>672736I've made anthropomorphic 3D characters before although I'm not a furry. So if you want some crit. Go post it in the WIP thread here and I'll give you some crit.>>671879
>>672736You seem like a healthy furry. In your opinion, why do you think society (normies and most not-normies alike) holds your lot in bad esteem?
>>672744Because most furrys are either raging homosexual deviants, female attention whores or stuck in a perpetual highschooler mentality.
>>672748And if you're not one of those people, chances are, you'll either be groomed into those mentalities or you'll grow out of being a furry.
>>672736depends if you're making shit that looks exactly like every fursona, like a blue fox with weeaboo eyes
>>672727no work is ever truly finished
There's a proven psychological effect of posting WIPs, so I don't do that. On the other hand, without posting WIPs and having learned everything about 3D somewhere else, it would feel weird posting finished work here, so I don't do that either.
>>672756Get over your anxiety because you're impeding your progression without crit.
>>672756>There's a proven psychological effect of posting WIPs, so I don't do that. What effect are you talking about? Just curious.
>>672757There's no anxiety. I'm already pushing myself with every model, and I think the results are beyond most posters here.>>672768According to some studies I've read about, showing off unfinished work makes you think it's more done than it already is. I don't know how to find the studies though, the wording is too generic for Google.
>>672780interesting. I can see why. But w/e. Its not going to stop me.
>>672780>According to some studies I've read about, showing off unfinished work makes you think it's more done than it already isSounds very plausible. Similarly, if I tell somebody that I'm working on something, I feel like it's a bit more "done", in a way. For some reason it seems to take out some of the pressure to finish the task, and that's why I don't usually tell other people what I'm working on, unless it's very close to finished.
>>672743I'll try posting more of my stuff then. Not done right this moment.>>672744Most furries are children, very immature, left wing, basically they hate furries for the same reason they hate Tumblr culture. There's something intrinsically creepy about fursuits the same way there's something creepy about clowns. I like fursuits but I see why they put some people off.
>furry derails thread to talk about himselffucking furries
>>672797not the furry guy. But derails the thread?Do you see any content in this thread?NO ONE is posting any finished work like OP is asking. The thread is kill if no one does anyway.
>>672749I don't really identify with the furry crowd, but I'll fap to just about anything if it's feminine enough. My dick doesn't care. It's pretty good to just find something new and be able to get off to it because you don't have very many hangups about things. Open mind and all that. Adds some variety when you get bored of something.
>>672835I hope you at least know to draw the line at 3D porn, anon.
>>672876What's wrong with that?
>>672891How can you willingly wank on triangles? You risk cuts
>>672897That's true, but I always subdivide to a smooth enough result.
>>672933Um, quads are converted to tris at render time, sweetie.
hehe, have a bump.
>>676398>sageru on dead boards
>>676406Have another one, then
>>672664Agreed, make your own community if you feel that 4chan is chaotic anon cause newsflash!!! sweetheart but that's what it is here, chaotic and I wouldn't have it any other way.
>>676411all it takes to nullify sage is to post before it's about to be flushed from last page, silly.
>>672736If you have stooped to making furry porn it might be time to neck yourself

>>672736hang yourself from a ceiling fixture or a doorknob. It's the only way to fix this.
>>672455Yeah I'll take it like a personal critique, thanks
>>672579Yeah but muh board culture, anon.
>4chan culture/3/ is especially filled with insecurity, stop claiming shitting on other posters to feel better about yourself is natural. It's a toxic mindset, many of us just want to learn and see others' work in peace.
>>672455Here's something I did for my studio in 2015. This was part of a sales pitch to the CEO to buy us Renderman for Maya. We needed to demonstrate the visible quality difference compared to using Mental Ray (not a hard line to cross) and it's ease of use since it needed to utilized by both the US and India team. Ultimately we passed on it, as our developers couldn't figure out how to get the tractor system to connect with our render nodes and it wasn't as easy as just using Afterburner. Still I had fun with it and recommend anyone to try out RenderMan. It's very easy to use and yields nice results quickly. Plus it's free to train on.My advice for other artist here is to target the studios/ styles you want to work for and just cater towards them. Don't try to be this unique swan that is going to impress everyone with how diverse and different your stuff is. Save that for your personal work. Studios want a tool that can do that job at hand. That also means not limiting yourself to just one discipline. If you like to model, you're going to need to know how to texture and light as well. If you like making characters, better know how to rig and animate as the knowledge of one helps strengthen the other. This all obvious shit, but you'd be surprised how many people don't understand or accept this.
