anyone else here have a degree in 3d but forced to flip burgers to make ends meet? I just had to get a real almost minimum wage full time job. Was just in the interview today. Now I'll have so many less hours to git gud. Wat do?
>>665949Welcome to 99% of the 3D industry.
>>665949>anyone else here have a degree in 3d but forced to flip burgers to make ends meet?the hilarious part of this is that you actually went to school to be prepared for an self-employment and leading own company. if you you should rethink your education.
>>665949I dont have any degree, because i dropped out of college in order to work and make more money. 5 years later i have some savings which arent enough, and Im tired of pitching people on the phone - theres no career growth at all, no place for improvements. Thats why I picked 3d . I am planning to make a good portfolio and either do freelance or buy a 3d printer with my savings and work for myself. But, OP, thats not all, Im on hard mode, I already have a kid and a family to take care of, so just imagine how much less hours I have to git gut or even make a solid portfolio.Stop whining and use all that free time you have to actually learn and imrpove your skills. Godspeed
anyone itt: i need a 3d designer for a game im making. post your works and well figure something out
>>665949I believe that is the fate of anybody, degree or not, the entry is difficult and it's based around subjective opinions and skills and objective pipeline and software skills. I went to a games degree, though i feel like i wasted my years at the same time i dont really, an undergraduate will help you in other things like getting a masters in other subjects or doing the creative education route depending if you got the grades or requirements for entry. However i have been thinking of flipping burgs for a job too just to get money and save. No matter how hard you fall know that everyone is looking at the same strict listings the only difference between you and them is if you keep trying to make gainz and keep trying even if it takes you years.
>>665949looks like deadmau5
>>666076>I already have a kid and a family to take care of HA HA, IDIOT.
>>665949this is why art should be a hobby and not an industryflip burgers if you wantpersonally I'm not gonna quit my dayjob
>>666152jokes on you. you'd be surprised the motivational boost you receive from having a family to take care of. So instead of whining like OP, you will become even more organized and manage your time even better. You wont have time to think of depression or self pitty because you have to flip burgers in order to do what you like.
>>666225>motivation It's fear in this case. It's not motivation if it's necessary.
>>666229When is anything necessary in life. Fear is a form of motivation.
I fucked it up bros, there was an opportunity to get a jerb and I hesitated too much and thought I wasn't ready enough to apply
>>666291that'll teach you confidence for your next try, cheer up!
>>665949Furries will pay good money if you make their fursonas and shit. You should get into that.
>>665949well i signed a contract before i even finished my college. i guess you need to be in the right place industry wise. So yeah it really depends on the number of studios in your city and overall your talent and good attitude. contact too.
Ive been doing character design for 9 years and Ive been on the picks page of arstation multiple times with thosands of likes on each of the images, and ive never been hired for a job. Its over
>>665949>degree in 3d
>>665949Get a real degree fag lol
You have to be a real fucking retard to get into 3D for money.
>>668915Copy n paste chinks & pajeets have taken over. We cant compete agaisnt a billion uncreative pajeets and chinks that work for pennies.
>>668979I can. Its actually very simple. Create quality and have good communication skills.I had a customer who tried to cut my prices by threatening me with outsourcing to India. I laughed in his face and told him to try, but when he eventually has to come back to me i would increase the prices. He outsourced, then he came back, and then i made him pay 10% more. He was furious, but he paid up. He is still my customer.
>>668989This, if you're worried about chinese/indians, dont. Im british asian in the industry and if youve got skills youve got nothing to worry about, specially being undercut. If somebody chooses a low price over you then good, leaves more opportunity for you to do some professional work for someone rather than some shitty thing.
>>665949Just say your trans in the interview, i literally said i was gay even though im not and they hired me to fill their quota, otherwise as a white man i wouldnt have got in
>>669305So one are to identify as a female gender-swapped post op lesbian tranny, just one that happened to already be born male?
>>665949>get interviewed by high end vfx house straight out of uni>don't get it because you told them where you lived and it wasn't 5mins down the road>try applying for a few months with no luck and give up>NEET in parents basement for 2 years now>haven't done any work to improve my reel>literally wasting awayI'm not even shit, I just can't be bothered finishing anything. All I wanna do is go full 'office space' and do nothing forever. But I finally decided to make some progress on my reel. We'll all make it bro's. The rookies is coming up as well. Submit some not shit work there and maybe get noticed.
