Yeah, strangely enough, every model seems to be packed with visimes, textures, and even LODs, so it would require specifically organizing the meshes as they're not named, and rigging presumably the high poly ones

That's exactly what face morphs might look like if they wehere. Tho the expressions similarity is strange since you should be able to get all those states with one target.
Coupled with the non-existing eyes makes me think these may be instantiation swaps with different textures for various facial expressions rather than used like standard morphs.

The meshes may be swapped from one frame to another to give a non-fluid transition between shapes to make it more akin to how 2D animation would look.

Oh that’s getting close to 2 months old. Tough to tell if he has both the modeling and texturing down a quick glance. I wonder if he will root around the rest of the game. I was thinking of doing so myself but not sure how to get PS4 game data in an unencrypted format that would allow me to root around in. So my gut feeling is, if he is doing that, he most likely has a hacked PS4 that can dump games in an unencrypted format and run games encrypted or unencrypted. The two meshes probably have different vertex orders.

In the python console editor type in "bpy.app.debug = True" and make sure the 't' is capitalized. Then in edit mode in the properties panel under mesh display you should see the option "indices", that displays the vertex order.

All that isn't necessary, just helpful, but this next part is: in the 3d viewport's header under "mesh" you will find the "sort elements" options. Here you can change the vertex order among other things.

You may be able to sync different meshes this way by playing around with the options.

However it requires that the model have connected faces to work. From the looks of the meshes in the file provided, all of the faces have been split from one another and merging doubles creates issues here. If you can you should try to re-import the meshes so that the faces are not split.

I was not trying to sound like reducing your effort to get to this point. Sorry if it sounded like that. I do like what youve done so far.

But as I said, you couldve learned how to redo the expressions yourself and done it twice in the time you tried to use what someone else already did (the face expressions). Even if you managed to do it, in the end it wouldve been more or less alot of wasted time and no noteworthy skill gained.

So it turns out I forgot to import with the groups. It is actually seperately grouped, and with multiple meshes for different faces.
However...

For the red dress mesh, there are 2 layers, seen here in this picture if it's visible. That means I have to weight paint 2 layers.
Why would they do this...

I started to 3d model last month, from scrratch with no experience. I'm very newbie, but I learned a lot and I can easily see this finished. However, there are some problems.

The models are really weird. There are duplicate vertices, there are holes and tears. I would have to merge many vertices.
Also in one of the above pictures of the red dress, the dress has 2 layers. Weight painting for that is really annoying, but possible. Doing stuff for free is, how do you say, requiring of motivation. I was excited when I got the models, however, I really wanted the tank-top and shorts model. I do not see it anywhere in the model pack, even though I see the textures.
There is a kit folder, for Kittun, and the first 3 models are named KID, not KIT. They are child civilian models, so maybe the ripper messed up?
Point is I was motivated to get a model that turned out to not be in the model pack! Or maybe it is there and I'm blind, oh well. Motivation destroyed.
With only a month of learning from scratch, it definitely doesn't need a year to progress, just motivation. And I am also working on a different project with much more motivation for that. I think you can get into fixing this model, it's not that hard, and motivation is the real fuel.

I hate maya but I learned that shit in the span of a week to be able to do rigging and animation because the tools are great for that. You have no excuse for not being able to read a few hotkeys and learn how to rig and weight paint something or repair the groups. You could have remade the entire character model with all this time. I'm someone else. I started 3d modeling 1-2 months ago from scratch on a different project. Gravity Daze is one of my favorite game series, so when I saw this thread, I jumped in.

Maybe I should state my goal.

I want to fully rig this character, including hair and the gun. I have only rigged a <1000 tri N64 model with separate intersecting meshes.

I want to figure out how to fix the eyes. There is an eye texture, but I don't know how exactly to put it on the character so I can rotate it in animations. In the game the eye is animated. I have another model that has a half eye mesh with texture on it, but this one doesn't have that. Maybe I should make one from scratch?

I want to setup the face for animation. There are a bunch of face meshes for that, but I may want to make new ones. I have never rigged/animated a face. I use tutorials, but sometimes they are out of date and don't work. That is when I come here to ask questions.

I want the finished file to be usable in Source Engine, VRChat and FaceRig. I assume those use different files, so at least a .fbx for most compatibility (I believe, could be wrong).

I am very poor and don't have money for anything other than Blender.

Right now I am currently weight painting, I am new to this and it kinda looks bad. Do you have any tips for this part?
How does my Rig look? I have no idea if it's good or bad. Should hair have IK? Poles? Does the gun need a bone?

Any help is appreciated, and if it helps, it feels bad when I ask for help, which lowers my lifespan, so every post here means I die sooner :D.

Another reason it takes time is that the auto rigging isn't perfect. Also the mesh has so many hidden vertices.
And here, these buttons are separate meshes not connected to the boots. I'm no game developer, but this looks unoptimized. I have to push the camera into her mesh to see the hidden vertices when weight painting. Now take this and apply it to her whole body.

When I last looked at it, I had a very basic understanding of the materials, enough to know what textures they used and write some fugly code for it. Aside from that, there are a few pointers to sections that I haven't figured out. In kit01_base.gfx, for example, 0x3E00 is the beginning of a section that I never figured out, and there's a pointer to it early in the file. 0xDF40 starts a bunch of info on each mesh, including vert counts, face counts, and a reliable clue for vertex sizes (meaning each mesh contains a different amount of info per vertex). 0x30, 0x5850, 0x018800, 0x0189C0, and 0xA56480 may or may not be useful, but as I write this, I think it may well be the case that weights are stored within vertex data. So maybe that's the best place to start. (0x019A00).
Oh, and here's the current script, with a Hex Workshop bookmark file that might help.

Purpose for the nude models was so I can rig clothing onto them in the future. I rigged ravens outfits onto this base long ago (image attached), never got to do Kats cuz I lost the models.
I used deviantart only for posting my MMD models. It's what ive always used and where I backup most of my files in stash. I just for some reason didnt with these models. The link above had them saved though, so I can go ahead and reupload them soon. My other gravity rush models on my page were restored (the raw ripped files).
