What's your motivation /3/?I often feel like "whats the point" and never finish anything i start.
Job by the end of the year when I graduate, eventually make my own games.Ask yourself why you started in the first place
I see individual artists make stuff like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-MteECxZUYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfGPMJ8A0QYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMGRa4_UjE4It lets me know how possible projects are.
3d is like drivingyou forgot 100 different mistakes at first, but you get used to it
I don't know about you but I end up not finishing a lot of projects because I get too hung up on not knowing how to approach specific problems, or worrying too much about getting something exactly right.I know why I do what I do, I want to make cool shit, but perfectionism always screws me over.
>>660601I'm working to get good enough in two weeks to become junior animator in local companyThen I will steal their secrets and get good enough to become senior animator at some pointThen I will get good enough to infiltrate pixar, steal their secrets and get good enough to start my own studioHaven't planned further yet...
I made my own engine, but the cost was incredibly high. Now i cant use unreal/unity without thinking of how my engine is easier to use in certain situations. But in reality, i can only achieve retro game quality, not indy current year or aaa or whatever unity allows. So, my endgoal is to make games within my limits, with my own hand forged engine. Feels satisfying but very slow to develop as a 1MA
>>660648>Haven't planned further yet...Get the chick?
>>660648>he thinks its that easylol dude...
>>660725...yeah I will also need /fit/ bf too>>660755let me daydream
>>660759im just messing with you, its actually pretty easy. as long as youre not a brainlet.
>>660760>as long as youre not a brainlet. That's the tricky part
You don't need motivation. If you want to read a book, you've only got to read a few pages a day. Eventually it *will* be read. Same with 3D. Throw some primitives into a scene to block out the forms. Then a couple times a day turn each of those primitives into the final shape. Is that Gundam? That model could easily be done with just a few sessions a day for a couple of weeks.
>>660601I think the biggest motivation is simply improving and challenging myself. With that in mind. Holy shit! That gundam is beautiful! Id love to see the textures and UV map for that.Would you happen to have the model? Or know exactly what game it's from? I know game model sites exist, can maybe find it there if know what game exactly.
>>660601I figure that if I'm not doing this, I might as well just kill myself.
>>660770nah i have no idea where its from i just like saving nice looking low poly models
>>660803low poly requires literally no experience in 3d, but baking textures. what you should be learning is how to paint, because thats basically 90% of the work.
>>660924actually you have to know a little 3D if you want to make animated characters, good lowpoly optimization must take animation in account
>>660925no you dont lol, rigging low poly is easy as fuck, for the simple fact that low poly models are forgiving since you can have quads and triangles in union, the only thing you would have to know is vertex painting and thats barely related to 3d.
>>660927>low poly optimization is irrelevant for animationso this is what brainlets believe
>>660928lol tell me what you have to optimize, poles? stfu retard
>>660929I can show you how wrong your ways areI don't believe it's worth it, but if you agree to humiliate yourself by apologizing later, I may give you a free lesson.
>>660924i dont really understand what youre getting at
>>660601i want to make cool ass animations like this one..and just as i was about to post it i noticed that another anon has already posted it >>660640we are going to make it my man
the promise of patreonbux
>>660640very possible if you have the skills that is
>>661238Man for some reason that doesn't even look low poly just low rasterization or something. Like low sampling on the render.
>>660601There is almost no artist out there who does good, high quality 3d animations of my particular fetish. The closest artists are just achingly far off from what I dream about. I have to try and show the world what’s in my mind.
>>661347do you have any examples you wanna post? i might take it up as a way to learn.
>>661348If you want to help me out and you’re not picky about the content I have no shortage of tasks that need to get done (animation, set dressing, lokdev and lighting, sims) but it’s not really something that can be tackled by a lone artist.
>>661349>not picky about the contentThat doesn't sound very inviting. What is your fetish, man?
>>660601To create sexy naked girls with nice jiggly boobs for porn stuff. That floats my boat high into the sky.
>>661238>he thinks thats hard to model, rig and animate lmao
>>660759Are you pretty, thin, fertile and lack a Y chromosome?
>>661356Nothing revolting, I'm just saying you'd need to be open minded to work on someone else's niche fetish
>>661349what's your fetish?
>>661517Really you'd just laugh or shrug if you're not into it. It's only that it's niche enough that explaining outs me here. The cg is fairly interesting though so that's why I bring it up.
>>661520Just spit it out, dammit.
>>661382There are no humans that lack Y chromosome on 4chan silly
>>661520Well maybe I am and would love to work on the project. I seriously doubt your fetish is that shocking. Just tell us already.
>>660601I want to get to a point where I can model my OC waifu
>>661548This is one of the most legit reasons I've read so far. Godspeed anon.
>>660601I don't have any. I started blender two years ago and left it a couple of months later. Wanted to go back in and I tried several times but I can't.Pic related. This was the model I did 1 hour in the udemy course that I've bought. Never completed it but I keep imagining me complete it. I mean, I wanna do it just I don't do it. Why?
>>661590>I mean, I wanna do it just I don't do it. Why?oh it's simple you don't do it because you don't actually want to do itbut don't force yourself, try other thingsif none clicks with you, then seek other hobby
My motivation is realizing that even if I take baby steps, they are still steps forward.30 minutes of learning a day is 182.50 hours in a 365 day year. This is already more effort than 99% of people make. The tortoise finished the race before the hare using this principle.Time is going to pass no matter what. The year will go by whether you want it to or not. You can either log the hours or you can't. 30 minutes is a low stakes commitment, but it's not meaningless. Every step the tortoise took was not meaningless.Just keep a steady pace. Not too fast, not too slow. Just 30 minutes a day. It's a positive number. You can objectively say "I made progress today".Don't focus too much on the big picture. "I'm not developing fast enough." Instead recognize that every step towards a goal is a SUCCESS. If you're working, you're succeeding.
>>661592So, I just wanna watch youtube videos all the time. There's something else wrong in me, but I'm not sure what.
>>661547>>661524Lol you guys are crazy. It's a gay furry topic, that enough of an answer? firstname.lastname@example.org if you are going to die without knowing or you're looking for work.
>>660601I'm making maps and characters for gayms.
>>661662how's the progress so far?
>>661657goddamn dude you acted like you were hiding a boner for giant cuntboys engaging in autocoprophagic ballbusting but it turns out all you want to do is sniff furry balls try harder next time man visit /d/ or something
>>661711Pretty good, but rigging using Physique is a pain in the ass, because you can't mirror vertex weights.
>>661652thats called procrastination and everyone have it at some degree
>>661712Oh it's def closer to the former lol
>>661621Thanks Anon, I honestly needed this.
Tomorrow I sat down, and Zbrush errored, then again, then again...,At that point I was already doing other things...
>>661621i love you anon, really needed this today
>>660927lol I bet you are one of those guys who do nothing, but think they could do anything. lol
>>660601What keeps me going day to day is I enjoy 3D modelling and it's fun to make pretty things. In the long run, I hope to make cool space animations for my research.
You can do literally anything you stick to.
