>“It’s a lot of stress to spend countless hours in front of Autodesk Maya and carefully sculpt a character out of a hundred thousand polygons, but I love my art,” said lead artist Brendan Wilson, completely unaware of the casual indifference Collett showed towards his work. “I’m just glad that our fans get to enjoy every second of it.”

>“I had to skip going home for my high school reunion,” added environmental artist Daniel Ngyun, “but the volumetric fog wasn’t looking quite right and I want gamers to have a flawless visual experience. Everything we do is for them!”

>“I missed my son’s first steps because I was adjusting the collision detection on Sgt. Pierson’s helmet so the straps wouldn’t clip through his collar,” said animator Debra Hansen. “Sure, I feel guilty for missing such an important milestone, but I always thought it was worth it for all the gamers who appreciate our dedication. I didn’t realize they were spending the cut scenes lurking their ex’s pictures. Oh god, what have I done?”

Doesn't matter, got paid

Highschool reunions and like social conventions are retarded. Most of the society is superficial anyway. I think we as humans can appreciate other people's happiness without taking a part in shit like social conventions. Being sad and angry that whoever didn't do what you wanted them to do inspite of their desires is immature as fuck and completely inconsiderate, ultimately makes the le social conventions guys hypocritical. I appreciate the fact that you got whatever good happened to you, but that doesn't mean I'll cater to you everytime it happens. I like my work, and if you want to force/grudge on me still, I wouldn't want to be in such a friendship.

>asset monkeys thinking they are artists getting offended when the only people who recognize that they put in work are other artists

100% his fault, especially when you take in the point of any work. Is he making it for himself, shareholders, other artists, or the viewer? what a fucking bitch of a person, hopefully they just quit now that they realized that their fucking work on a yearly release title means absolutely nothing and most gamers are more impressed by horse testicles and snow physics in games than anything pre rendered.
>>
>>658735
if they quit and someone else takes their seat you'll just get the same bitching though.

>Makes shitty cutscenes to push their own political bias and programming
>Doesn't include a skip cutscene button
I hope they get cancer and dies to be perfectly honest, putting cutscenes into games should be a dick-getting-cut-off offense.
>>
>>658722
This is still more recognition than you get in most lines of work.
>>
>>658755
Cut scenes are cringe af. I buy games to play them not to watch an overpriced movie
>>
Doesn't anyone realize that it is a joke?

OP here, yeah, it's an Onion-esque satire article. I thought it'd be pretty interesting to shitpost to /3/ though, since it sort of highlights how minutiae that gets slaved over for hours is typically overlooked/underappreciated by audiences.
>>
>>658722
I don't care and I never cared back then. I did just enough to finish the job and I got paid. Whatever normies think of my work is irrelevant to me as long as I get adequately compensated.

>how minutiae that gets slaved over for hours is typically overlooked/underappreciated by audiences
That's the way it is, but it won't make me settle for lesser standards for my *own* work. Paid-for work, well, that's a different matter.

Sculpting is the most artistic part of 3d modeling you fucking vertex pusher. I'm so tired of reading you non-artists complaining about people with actual artistic skill who can sculpt and draw.

You are confusing process and technique with art.
>>
>>658819
You are an asset monkey, just like everyone else. You will either sculpt generic space marine helmet No. 29489 or Pajeet & Zergling will do it for 1/20 the money.
>>
>>658821

I have studied anatomy (and still study it) and I can draw pretty damn well, I know what I'm doing.

>>658826

"Plebs" as you call them all sculpt characters before retopologizing them. It's this way in virtually every game and animation studios. It's not our fault if you're still stuck in the early 2000's.
>>
>>658851
sculptfag...please, it's not your fault that you are an egotastical delusional cunt.
>>
>>658822

Here's a perfect exemple of a guy who don't know what the fuck he's talking about.

I sculpt a detailed character/animal with millions of polygons. I export it as the high poly. Then I decimate this model a lot (with zremesher) until it has a much lower poly count (so that I can retain the essential shapes). Then I retopo it (because there's no point in retopologizing a multi-million poly sculpt), it's a fast process when you know what you're doing. Then I just bake.

People like you are just mad because you're too dumb to learn zbrush or too lazy to learn art. You're not an artist, you're a technician.
>>
>>658852

Nice argumentation there faggot.
>>
>>658853
You are no artist either. You are a replaceable technician, just like we are. Nothing you do is special and some Indian or Chinese probably does it better and cheaper.

Anon, that was a joke. An exaggeration for the sake of humor that was obviously such.

You aren't an artist just an autismo, my friend. Also
>implying I'm employed
Until then I'm an artist
>>
>>658857
we all are replaceable technicians, even 2dfags
but unlike 2dfags we don't have long-standing tradition... everyone are at each other throats, even here, in lairs we frequent at
all this is simply perfect to exploit us further

Heh.
>>
>>658722
>life is hard
Big woop
>>
>>658765
that just depends on what the cutscene is, if its some Call of Duty shit then i am not even gonna bother, but Warcraft 3 or some MGS cutscenes are absolute kino
>>
>>658839
Can you elaborate?
