anybody know how to give a shader a render distance in vrc? like so only when you shove it in their face it lags. because lod group doesnt work.

I don't get it, are you trying to implement frustum culling? Or are you trying to make a clipping plane-esque thing? Methinks the latter should be a matter of checking the distances of the camera and the object and rendering depending on that. Since it seems obvious to me, you could be thinking of the former case, or something else entirely.
