Pic related took me about 2 hours to render, I'm using a lenovo laptop for it, I know I could improve my performance by getting a custom built pc but for a taco like me that is a big investment.

How can someone learn 3D, in my case 3D animation, if it requires an investment in new computer hardware that will keep a lot of people away from even being able to try it?

Learn as much as you can using the OpenGL viewport of your app of choice. Animation principles apply equally in all software. Learn enough to land a job, get money, and buy yourself a better computer.
